I'm somewhat satisfied with the video answer although the jokes were in bad taste. Too bad it took so much escalation to get to this point. Now we as a community have to watch them and hold accountable on delivering on the promises made.

I'm not gonna touch Madison thing with a ten foot pole. If true it can't be resolved with a simple video but it certainly needs to be addressed in some way and fast. The accusations are really, really serious and for now it's word against word and frankly nobody on this forum should cast judgment at this time.

"That's the way I feel about LMG recently. I'm a long time LTT viewer but currently I only watch it for entertainment value. I pretty much skip all of their CPU/GPU/cooler reviews. They're not reliable.

And that copper cooler review...man...that was outrageous. They specifically tested it with the wrong card on a premise that it might work and when it didn't they just said "Eh, it is what it is. It sucks". That's not what a journalist does. And the fact that LMG auctioned the cooler without permission is borderline illegal in my opinion."

Steve summed up what I've been feeling about LMG and more. I'm still gonna watch the WAN Show and probably most of the LTT videos but the company needs to get their s**t together. At the size of LMG (as much as Linus wants to call it small company) some things are not acceptable.

Steve said and I quote - "LMG has put one of a kind block up for auction". Whether it's for charity (which I think most of the people who watch GN nad LTT know it was) or not is irrelevant. So it the fact that you've compensated the Billet Labs. It shows a bigger issue within the company that's mixed up with lower video quality.

Billet Labs didn't just lose money on this but a great, functioning prototype. It's priceless in engineering. Don't be that guy that says "I compensated them for it, it's fine". Own it and apologize publicly.

Regarding reviews mistakes- you've said you're improving a bunch of times now and I don't doubt that. But at the same time you cannot use that argument for everything, especially with so many viewers onboard. It shouldn't be that every time you make a mistake (and there were quite a few recently) you just go "whoops...but...but... we're getting better". At some point it just starts getting old and stops being true (The phrase "Labs has tested..." became pretty much meaningless). Just focus at one thing at a time. Correct video procedures, testing procedures, instead of making a thousand new things at once. How can you trust in new things being good when old things are broken?

I think that GN did an excellent journalistic job and brought up something that a non-insignificant amount of the community was thinking but didn't have a medium to speak out (and making a forum thread by some rando' wouldn't be it). Putting aside his personal relationships and speaking what he believes in is IMHO a mark of a true journalist.

As I said in my previous post in the thread - I'll still be watching LTT but at the same time I want it to be the best version of itself. That's probably a lot to take in but everything that's being said is valid and should be evaluated.

Not going to disregard "he did it for a drama" thing completely but consider this- he made a ton of valid points backed up by proof. He turned off monetization on the video and didn't put any sponsor spots. And lastly, out of the ordinary high number of views in just one video can actually hurt a channel in terms of a appealing to YouTube gods. Linus mentioned it a couple of times on WAN Show.

If they didn't mention it people would call them out. They mentioned it and it's still bad because they said they could do otherwise? Gotta pick one.

As for "trust me bro" dilemma I honestly didn't care much about it as I live in Europe and wouldn't order anything anyway but I could see why it exploded to such a degree. And I could see why GN took interest in it. It wasn't all clean of course as they mentioned their own warranty policies (could be to clarify. Could be just to poke LTT. I don't know). They were expressing their concerns and communicating a change of stance towards LMG which I think is a valid thing to speak out about. Also it wasn't a dedicated video but a part of "HW News".

It's not like I'm desperately defending GN. I don't believe for one second there isn't even one bit of self-interest in all this but IMHO it vastly outweighs the issue at hand

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about both in terms of cost and design of the product. As a Mechanical Engineer myself I can tell you that the piece was a freaking work of machining art with proper fluid dynamics taken into consideration (which Linus touches on in the video too). Also you grossly overestimate how much copper is worth in volume.

Was the product stupid? Probably, yes. But it could find it's audience as all over the top things do

As for the review itself - It's like testing a cooler on an AMD processor with Intel Bracket and complaining that it doesn't dissipate heat properly. Bad testing completely invalidates the results. That's it.
