  1. My parents' TV has finally died, now looking for a decent replacement that's not too expensive - They just use it for Netflix and other streaming services, things like VRR are not a requirement. I've managed to find a Sony 65" X85K for ~800 CAD after tax which seems like a good deal, wondering if that's the best I'm going to do, or if there's something better in a reasonable price range.
  2. Noticed pixels kind of glitching/flashing in a square-like pattern. Not sure what to call it. I'm guessing this isn't normal? Playing with Fidelity mode on a 4K TV with VRR enabled. I can't tell if this is an issue with my PS5 or my display, I've never noticed this in any other game before. Any ideas? IMG_4569.mov
  3. Thanks! I can consider stretching the budget a bit higher, but not to the $1500 TVs that were being recommended. I saw that Costco also currently has the Sony X90K for $1200. Do you think it's worth it over the U88H and X75K?
  4. In the market for a 4K TV, I've never owned a 4K display nor am I too knowledgeable when it comes to displays. My budget is ~$1000 CAD My initial research pointed me towards a TCL 6-Series 55" R646 (2021) at Amazon for $900 CAD - I do have a PS5, so having 120hz would be nice. Unfortunately TCL doesn't sell the newer 2022 R655 model of the TV in Canada. Are there any other TVs that would be better value or is there something coming up that I should wait for?
  5. Unfortunately I'm in Canada where this deal doesn't exist
  6. I'm in the market for a mesh router and I've narrowed it down to the TP-LINK Deco X60 2 Pack and the TP-LINK Deco M9 Plus 2 Pack. I'm going to be using a wireless backhaul in a 3,000 sq.ft house and was wondering which would would have better real-world performance. I've read so far that the triband in the M9 Plus would allow the satellite to use a completely different band for it's connection with the main router, but I haven't been able to find how much of an effect this really has when comparing it dual band Wifi 6. The prices are within $50 of each other, so price isn't much of an issue. Any suggestions/recommendations?
  7. Sounds good, thanks! I'm running the 5600x with a Dark Rock Pro 4 (probably a little overkill ) and a 6800XT. In blender the frequencies hovered around 4100-4600 MHz and in prime95 they were usually at a stable 4200MHz all according to Ryzen Master, I think these are okay? Got it. Thanks!
  8. I built my new PC yesterday and this morning I realized that I only used half the thermal paste that came with my cooler and without thinking I removed the cooler, added in the rest of the paste and reseated it. Only after I did everything did I realize that it was probably not a great idea . I'm using a 5600x and right now my idle temp's range from 35-40C, regular use ranges from 40-50C and blender benchmarks went as far as 64C. I think I should be okay, but wanted some opinions on whether these temps are still okay and if I should buy and replace the thermal paste that's currently being used.
  9. My current phone's contract is coming to an end so I ordered the OnePlus 7T a couple of days ago for $669CAD. But now I'm reading some OnePlus 8 leaks that say the phone's releasing sometime in May. Is it worth it to proceed with my order or should I cancel it and wait for the 8? How much more expensive do you guys think the 8 will be? Is the 7T still worth it with the 8 coming out in the next few months?
  10. I'm interested in buying an iPad but with the rumors of the Pro 2019 being announced fairly soon, is it worth it to pick up a Pro 2018 right now?
  11. Hey guys, so I recently bought a laptop and I'm looking for a dock to get some extra ports. I'm looking for at least 1 HDMI port and another Thunderbolt 3 port as I might buy an eGPU in the near future and hopefully a couple of USB 3.0 ports. Any recommendations?
  12. So i just bought a laptop that has a 7500U, 16GB RAM, GTX 940mx and a 4K display and I also found a laptop near the same price with a 7700HQ, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050 2 GB and a 1080p display. Is it worth it to return the one i bought and get the 7700hq one? I'm primarily going to be using it for the university for computer science. These are the two: One I bought: https://www3.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/ideapad/flex-series/Lenovo-ideapad-FLEX-5-1570/p/88IP8FX0832 One I'm looking at: https://www3.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/Yoga-720-15/p/88YG7000828
  13. Unfortunately, the laptops you talked about aren't under $1500CAD, or at least couldn't find them :'). My priority wasn't as much productivity as it was in your case. I plan on just using the laptop for note taking, any class work and have a decent desktop at home. So I was more focused on battery life, some coding, Visual Studio and maybe some media consumption. For now, I've picked up the Lenovo Flex 5 I posted earlier : https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/store/d/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5-15-2-in-1-pc/8zv5zhq967h5/DSR2?activetab=pivot:techspecstab - i7 7500U - GTX 940mx - 16GB DDR4 2133MHz - 15.6in 4K Touch Display - 256GB SSD + 1 TB HDD It fit almost all my requirements, except for the GPU, although I won't be using it for gaming, it would have been nice to have a better dedicated GPU or maybe even a Thunderbolt port. My only concern with it is the CPU since it's a 7500U and as you mentioned earlier, it's not the best for actual work. But it should be okay for some in-class coding. Other than that, it's pretty solid. I'm going to keep on looking though, let me know if you find anything as well!
  14. Couldn't find one with an i7 in my price range How would this be? https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/store/d/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5-15-2-in-1-pc/8zv5zhq967h5/DSR2?activetab=pivot:techspecstab
  15. So i'm looking for a laptop for uni and I found a couple of things, but I want some suggestions. I'm leaning towards a 2 in 1, but im not completely sold on them. So far, I've found the Yoga 720 for $1364 CAD https://www3.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/Yoga-720-15/p/88YG7000828?menu-id=Lenovo_Yoga_720 (i7 7700HQ, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD version) - With tax, it ends up being about $1500 CAD Any suggestions? Also, im going to be going to uni Sept. next year, is it worth picking up a laptop right now since its the holiday season? I'm also going to be in a computer science or computer engineering program
