At the bare minimum pick up 2 WD Reds and raid 1 them, the couple hundred bucks is well worth it. Personally I'd get a 3rd drive to keep at your house and do a weekly backup or maybe even monthly if you can't be bothered.

I'm not going to suggest a motherboard based on slot spacing. Rather, you can use PCIe risers (preferably shielded) to extend the connection to the slot. That way you don't have to worry about them fitting on the motherboard, but that doesn't solve fitting them in a case or cooling them.

From reading your posts I gathered you'd want to Plug CC into AA and BB into CC.

AA is modem only so it acts only as your gateway to the internet
    CC is your main router
BB will be plugged into one of the LAN ports. Not the WAN port, unless your configuration page allows you to reconfigure the WAN port into a LAN port

Make sure all SSID, Encryption type and password are the same (you can use different channels). I don't think you can have the same SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, I've never tried that so give that a shot
Just make sure BB has DHCP Server turned off and pointed to CC's default gateway with CC's range of IP.

As long as any connected devices is connected to one of those 4 access points (they'll appear to be 2 when being detected) they will be able to communicate with each other.

Go to start and search for "Create and format hard disk partitions"

At the bottom, there should be a line (probably labeled "Disk 1") with the right size and no partitions (you can tell because there is no blue line like there is for your boot drive)

Right click the unallocated space (to the left of the "disk 1" box) and select "new simple partition."
Go through the wizard, selecting NTFS as the file system, and the entire capacity of the drive. This will give you a 2TB for use in windows!
