  1. Starcraft 2, since a good chunk of the game is free, and you'll need the Battle.net launcher anyways to play Warcraft. Age of Empires 2 is a classic. Creeper World is a hidden indie gem, brings me back to the old flash games. 95%+ on steam. Runs on a potato. I liked Halo Wars back on the console, not sure how it ported over. Also, Humble Bundle has a sale on strategy games $12 for 7 games, definite buy to get stared on your collection: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/strategy-bundle?hmb_source=humble_home&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_1_layout_type_twos_tile_index_2
  2. Lol, anyone remember the PS3 cluster(Condor Cluster) where the Air Force connect 1760 PS3s into a super computer? Apparently Sony allowed Linux to run on the PS3 at some point Circa. early 2000s
  3. Just ran the built in CPU benchmark under Tools, no idea what it means, but here are the results: 13-Mar-18 14:16:50 | | Running CPU benchmarks 13-Mar-18 14:16:51 | | Suspending computation - CPU benchmarks in progress 13-Mar-18 14:17:22 | | Benchmark results: 13-Mar-18 14:17:22 | | Number of CPUs: 14 13-Mar-18 14:17:22 | | 4566 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 13-Mar-18 14:17:22 | | 16817 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU 13-Mar-18 14:17:23 | | Resuming computation hardware: R7 1700 @ 3.7 GHz Anyone more learn-ed care to share
  4. https://imgur.com/a/rhFuj What do you guys think? Schedule Z is IMO the scariest, potentially illegal, acoustic mapping of your house? lol Hopefully the same situation as Activion's patent of matchmaking manipulation to encourage microtransaction purchases, where it is only a suggestion. SidAlpha did his thing:
  5. mining Ethereum only, CPUs are dedicated to BOINC and what little payout from Gridcoin. Got 2x 1070 stock atm at 26.5Mh/s each and 2x R9 Fury cards OC'd at.... see picture below
  6. at epoch 162 it looks like it is using about 3.2GBs of vram, as it goes up in epochs it'll keep using more also, yechspot posted a comparison of GPUs for ethereum: https://www.techspot.com/article/1438-ethereum-mining-gpu-benchmark/
  7. Check out Gridcoin in the grand scheme, you are only getting pennies per day for computing, but it's something, you could be mining with your GPUs, and computing for BOINC with CPU
  8. awesome, ended up going with BOINC then attaching Gridcoin
  9. so, I am mining with my GPUs pinned to max, but my CPU is sitting at ~10-20%, what could my CPU be doing, are there any CPU only coins out there, or could Folding and BOINC be adjusted to just use CPU? I guess I could just rum Prime95 indefinitley.... Important, my computer is my only source of heat in my room
  10. every little bit will make a difference, that is the very core of distributed computing, at one point they had a smartphone app for folding, it turned my little brick into a handwarmer, lol
  11. .........I guess it might be worth it to hop up to $500-600 for the UPS if it will also facilitate my FreeNAS and PfSense router....
  12. yes I did and it is wrong: http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-990FXA-UD3-Ultra-rev-10#support-cpu
  13. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BenevolentHam/saved/JvY999 pcpartpicker reads 908 watts but the list is not done yet, water pump, 2nd monitor, etc
  14. Building a computer here, I have a 1200 watt PSU, looking at a 1500va 900 watt UPS. Under load, my setup will be drawing about 950 watts, even more after overclocking. Will I have to look for a higher rated UPS (note: next step up is a 2x price increase) or will I be okay running my computer through this?
