Asus customer support does right by me
fordsrmaster posted a topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
I just wanted to take a minute to say that I had a good experience with Asus customer support. I had a Ryujin II 360 that failed. About a month ago it just died while I was playing Deathloop. It wouldn't display anything on the CPU screen, and the pump wouldn't pump, and my 12900K quickly overheated and shut down my computer. The Ryujin II has a 6-year warranty, so I contacted Asus support and explained to them what had happened. I explained that I tried the connectors in other motherboards and the unit just wouldn't turn on anymore. I was quickly given a RMA number and given instructions to mail the unit to a service center. I was NOT happy that Asus made me pay for shipping on a warranty item. I was not happy that this process was going to take weeks to get to a resolution. It cost me $25 to ship the unit back to Asus. They contacted me about 10 days after I had shipped it. They explained that the unit was failed, and parts were not available. They asked is I wanted to wait for parts to become available or would I except a Ryujin III ( refurbished ) instead. They explained that the Ryujin III would carry the remainder of the Ryujin II warranty on the original unit. I jumped at the offer because the Ryujin III has a larger radiator, and larger coolant tubes, along with a newer pump design. Fast forward about another 10 days and I received the Ryujin III at my front door. To my surprise it appears to be a new unit. If it is in fact a refurbished unit, there is no way to tell. It was packed in a new box, and nowhere did it state refurbished on the packaging. Turns out that the Ryujin III cools much better than the Ryujin II ever did, or at least it does on my set up. Before my fans would ramp up under a heavy CPU load, but now when I put my CPU under a heavy load the fans stay at the same low speed and my CPU still stays cool. I am really happy with the end result. I still think that Asus should have paid me back for shipping once it was determined that it wasn't customer abuse, but overall, I am happy with the experience. -
ATX case with USB-C 3.2 gen2 support aka 20Gbit.
fordsrmaster replied to honna1612's topic in Cases and Mods
MSI cases now claim to support USB type-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 on their new 2021 cases. Other than those, I have not found any cases as of yet that support the 3.2 gen 2x2 connector. -
I'm looking for some help in finding a case that will tick all the boxes on my wish list. I am going to build an Intel system using a Core I9 12900K and an Asus Maximus Z690 Hero motherboard. I want to be able to use the front panel USB type-C 3.2 gen 2x2 connector that the motherboard supplies. I also want to be able to use an Asus power supply that has the side mounted OLED display for wattage. I would like to find a black case ( mid-tower preferred, but not necessary ) that includes a window to view the side of the power supply, has air vents above the power supply, has good ventilation, and includes ( or has the option ) a USB type-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 front panel connector. Wants list: 1) Black case ( mid tower preferred ) 2) Viewing window for the power supply with air vents above the power supply 3) USB type-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 on front panel.

Yep, confirmed. Price is back to $1000. Also I checked the price on the HP and it's at $1200.

Hello all. I bought myself a LG OLED 65 B7A TV about three weeks ago and now I'm looking to upgrade my old receiver to a modern one that can handle Dolby Atmos. My head is swimming in all the different receiver information on the web. I don't have thousands of dollars to spend on the receiver, my budget is in the $400.00 range. I've found two different units that have peaked my curiosity. The first one is a refurbished Yamaha RX-V681 from accessories4less.com for $319.00, and the second is a new Onkyo TX-NR676 for $399.99 from Best Buy. Has anyone heard of Onkyo before? Do they make quality units? Would you lean toward the refurbished Yamaha that is 47% off the new price of $599.99? Or is there some other choice that you all think would be better yet? Let me know. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/onkyo-tx-7-2-ch-hi-res-network-ready-4k-ultra-hd-and-3d-pass-through-a-v-home-theater-receiver-black/5763442.p?skuId=5763442&cmp=RMX&extStoreId=869&ref=212&loc=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwuvWBRBZEiwALXqjw5S9W0OBPi_JTkJwtbWCZ6vDXch53uyrLpd8Njx7JLAC5cqxApKw_BoCOdQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrxv681bl/yamaha-rx-v681-7.2-ch-x-90-watts-networking-a/v-receiver/1.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwwuvWBRBZEiwALXqjw9UWOjzXdsf3uwYzvHt-PAssuWsksdRPz6h7GFJPKvC28QxQBnW1uRoC-tgQAvD_BwE

So here is my question. My father bought a Asus Z370-H motherboard that does not have a addressable, or regular RBG header on it. He bought a string of addressable RGB lights that he would like me to add to the case. Does anyone know of a way to use the addressable RGB lights in combination with this motherboard? Is there a add-in card that I could get him? Is there a additional controller that I could add to the case? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Asus Zenbook UX430UN or Dell XPS 13

Thanks for the input. I think that I am actually leaning in the direction of the Zenbook now. -
What fans are suggested to quiet Corsair H100i
fordsrmaster replied to fordsrmaster's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
I ended up buying the ML120's. Should be here in time to get them installed over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I am looking forward to having a quiet cooling solution. -
I have a 2 year old Corsair H100I AiO and I finally have had enough of the fan noise when they kick up above 50%. What would you suggest for a replacement that would greatly cut down on the noise? The included Corsair fans have always seemed to have either noisy windings , or a noisy bearing set up. It's never been the air flow that was noisy, but the motor itself. I was thinking about looking for some sort of fan that uses a magnetic floating bearing, but I wanted to check here first and see what other people would suggest.

Can anyone find the Core I7-8700k to buy?
fordsrmaster replied to fordsrmaster's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I was able to get my i7-8700k from Newegg this morning when they popped up in stock and my father was able to get his i7-8700 from Newegg also this morning. At first I had pre-ordered it from Amazon because it was cheaper, but then when Newegg showed "in stock" rather than "pre-order" I ordered the one from Newegg and cancelled the Amazon order. While the Newegg was about $50 more than Amazon, Amazon was going to charge me $35 in tax, making the difference only about $15. I was willing to pay the extra $15 dollars so that I could get it in 3 days from Newegg rather than the estimated time of November 14th from Amazon. -
Since I see that you paid for Bitwit Ultra, I have a question for you. Where are the Bitwit videos? How do you get to them once you have paid? Is there a separate tab for Bitwit like there is for Floatplane?
-
As I understand it, Vessel didn't fail, it was bought out by Verizon and shut down.
-
They are associated now. That is why I was asking. Kyle just posted his Floatplane announcement video.
