  1. I know, I'm at a point where I'm trying to decide if gaming will be a part of my future, or if my only audio needs are people talking on youtube, nothing that requires *good* sound. It's partly that I want a cleaner desk, and I want to give my current speakers to my mom and not have to buy new speakers.
  2. I'm not arguing that, I'm just wondering what the best option is for a setup without external speakers.
  3. I'm just wondering what brand/model of display has the best built in audio?
  4. I would expect it to be perfectly fine. 13A @ ~115V gives you a max wattage of 1495W. Also, I'm assuming that the system wouldn't be coming close to actually pulling 1200W, but even it was, I wouldn't expect any issues.
  5. Lian-Li has never been known for "value" or "intelligent design". Still look awesome and high quality though. I would lean towards guessing that Lian-Li's measurements were wrong on clearance than Noctua.
  6. I'm sure Unilever will find a way to ruin the product. That being said, I can't help but feel good for the guys who founded it, they took a chance, made it work, and effectively cashed out and can enjoy the rest of their days as they choose.
  7. Also look into running OpenELEC. It's XBMC that someone has converted into an independent OS. Similar to the XBMCbuntu option on the core site, but lighter code. I have it running on an AMD E2-1200 (I think that's the part) Zotac box thingy, and it runs Blu-Ray iso's perfectly. Also streaming from media server over gigabit Ethernet. If you're really tight for budget, I believe OpenELEC will install onto a memory card or usb thumb drive if you have to. I have no regrets using it vs XBMC inside a regular OS.
  8. It should remain a viable platform for a little while as well I would think?
  9. Long story short, helping out a friend of mine who is planning on getting a new computer and although she has a budget of around $1000, she's wanting to be able to play GW2 with all the settings maxed at 1080p Putting together parts lists, I've gotten it to an i5 4430, H97 mobo, and R9 270x I tried to do as much research as I could on the demands of the game, and I feel like the above should be able to comfortably play the game maxed out, barring the natural lag associated with MMORPGs. Any suggestions from people with experience with the game?
  10. I'm still due at 9pm Pacific Time. This has to be one of the worst countdown timers ever.
  11. Yeah, I think I'm waiting on that board as well. Still going to be using an ATX case for the time being, but I would like to be able to move to a smaller form factor case and that would help. I also only need PCIe slots for a wireless card and maybe a PCIe SSD
  12. Ah yes, the Gigabyte Sniper. I actually like a lot of things about the board, and it is a touch cheaper. However, I don't believe that Gigabyte has a CPU-less BIOS update feature (which the Asus has), and the launch BIOS for the MSI supports Kaveri. I would likely have to update the Asus BIOS before being able to use Kaveri (will be buying a 7850k, hoping to run it at ~4.5Ghz)
  13. So I've posted about a potential build before, but lack of funds and unavailable products got in the way. I think I'm about ready to actually place an order, but I can't really decide on a motherboard. I've narrowed it down to the Asus A88X Pro and the MSI A88X-G45 Gaming. They're within a few dollars of each other, so that's not an issue, but I can't decide which to get. I realize the MSI is brand new, but it seems like some people have gotten to play with it. Does anyone have any thoughts on which to get?
  14. Hmm, good eye on that. I may just make the jump and get that board then, though it is more expensive, but it has DP, which I'm wanting for the future.
