  1. Get back in your pram! I was merely making a suggestion based on experience you idiot!
  2. If you require precision then only a pro GPU will do, so yes go with a Quadro card. I would also suggest looking at the Supermicro motherboards (LGA 2011) that will support Xeon E5 v2 Xeons. If you're on a tight budget and don't mind used stock I suggest eBay as I've seen them being sold cheap and in good working order. (Tried and tested)
  3. Quadro is needed for the professional enviroment. If he was rendering or 3d modelling cars for fun then a GTX would suffice. If he has or is going to be carry out out professional work for clients using say Autocad, then the Quadro or it's equivalent should be used.
  4. Aren't LGA 2011 / 1150 good enough? If you were serious you'd buy a Xeon CPU I still suggest you do some serious reading before deciding on Skylake.
  5. Put this "skylake, is it worth it" into google and read the many articles. The 'No' camp seem to be winning hands down. If you already own a decent PC I suggest adding more ram if not already maxed out and spending the rest on a better GPU.
  6. I take all benchmarks at face value until I've actually tried the hardware with the software I will be using all the time. will you be using the machine for gaming? I suggest reading this and other articles before deciding. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2765861/worth-upgrade-skylake.html
  7. Do you know anyone who owns Skylake hardware? The reason I ask is that I would rather test drive the hardware before buying as you may find the supposed increase in speed slightly disappointing.

    Please Help!

You haven't told us what budget you have. K series processors will be a waste unless you overclock. You said you aen't overclocking so forget them. Personally I'd go with a Xeon. Choose your motherboard and see if it supports Xeons on the manafacturers website. Prices of CPU's will depend on what socket type you decide on. You can still pick up LGA 1155 motherboards that support quad E3 V2 Xeons fairly cheap.
  10. I'd take the advice of Naeaes and either RMA or swap hardware with a friend to narrow down the problem. Did you read this thread? The guy didn't get a reply but he too has the Anti surge warnings. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/443219-asus-z170-a-problems/ Also try the Asus forums to see if others who own the same motherboard have has similar issues, good luck.
  11. Forget that as it's not needed. I have 2 Asus motherboards with Anti surge protection. The warning you got is to do with what sounds like a possble surge from the PSU. the board has shut itself down to protect the rest of your hardware. Also check and see if there are any damaged cables.
