  1. No don't stay away from it or No, don't buy it? Or just No?
  2. Worth waiting vs what, buying an LGA 2011-3 platform now? The performance difference between DDR3 and DDR4 isn't astronomical. If you need LGA 2011-3 then buy LGA 2011-3, if not don't. I wouldn't expect DDR4 prices to come down too much until it comes down to the mainstream platforms.
  3. 100% sure it'd be fine, Linus did the same thing for his Razer build.
  4. Last time I checked Linus didn't want to be an accessory to murder.
  5. Linus clarified already, it's in the OP, seems like people aren't noticing it.
  6. I completely agree that he shouldn't try to make it to every event.
  7. As said above you either need to drain the loop and remove all parts that aren't secured to the case beyond doubt or you need to package it very well. SingularityComputers Packages computers with custom loops filled with liquid, watch one of the videos where he shows how he packages them.
  8. I'm okay with AT&T sponsoring infrequent events like this one. I don't mean that they could pay LTT to go to an event every month, but an event that is relevant to LTT and is of interest to LTT/LMG (CTIA, PAX, CES, Computex) that they would not otherwise be able to cover due to the financial burden. If I recall Linus said that he wasn't covering a few of the above events because finding sponsors for an event that had X amount of views previously was very difficult and not worth the time or effort of covering it.I'm fine with AT&T sponsoring in those types of situations. A last resort sponsor essentially. In the end I doubt Linus would let AT&T sponsor them all that often, because he realizes that it would create a feeling of distrust within the LTT community.
  9. Repost? The post I linked was made 5 days ago, and it sources the same information despite not mentioning it in the OP.
  10. He's referring to the protest dubbed "Day of Action" where multiple large companies are banding together to throttle their own services in an effort to show what the consequences of internet fast lanes would be. He believes it to be morally wrong because AT&T openly opposes net neutrality, they also promote fast lanes and pay lobbyists for the sake of having the government approve internet fast lanes and approve of a lower standard of internet broadband. In his opinion since AT&T openly opposes things that LMG/LTT promote, and AT&T promotes things that LTT/LMG oppose, LTT is ruining their brand recognition and is at the same time using said brand recognition to sway the minds of people who might otherwise oppose internet fast lanes and support net neutrality. This is why you oppose the AT&T sponsorship right @smjpl ?
  11. Since I've seen at least 5% - 10% of the people here describe an option they want available, but not one that can be accurately summed up in one option, I've created a general "I don't want AT&T as a sponsor because X, X described below" option. I've tried to quote all those who seemed to feel this way so that they might also be represented somehow.
  12. There was an awesome Australian deal, so go to Australia and enroll in a school. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/211940-australian-students-free-software/ What else do you call Free -Microsoft Windows 7 ultimate -Microsoft Windows 8 -Microsoft Windows 8.1 -Microsoft Office 2013 -Microsoft Office 2011 for MAC -Microsoft Office 2010 -Adobe Creative design suite -Adobe Photoshop Elements -Adobe Premiere Elements
  13. People who aren't sure of the consequences of net neutrality, people who don't watch LTT, those people will have to work really hard to find LMG/LTT on AT&Ts site. I mean I had to look for a good few minutes to find it, and I knew what I was looking for. (mostly because the AT&T at CTIA’s Super Mobility Week part of the page with hyperlinks that move the un-scrollable content broke and I couldn't see anything other than a blank part of a page) And then lets say they do find it, what will it mean to them? Some tech guy in Canada is covering CTIA. It's like if you show some random non tech person a video from MKBHD, or any other large Youtube tech channel. You and I and the people who are a part of this "tech world" realize that Linus has a decent amount of authority in this tech world, to a random person though he won't be some tech aficionado, he'll just be that one guy among many other guys covering an event. He has power in the community's eyes because we give it to him, a random person won't just see another random person and decide to give them an authoritative status based on a small stub on AT&T's site. You could run into some foreign political figure on vacation, not realize who they are, and treat them like a normal person. To a normal person not acquainted with the tech world Linus has no influence. To a person acquainted with the tech world he has influence but they, like you said, understand the implications. As such I believe that allowing AT&T to sponsor them does not cause nearly as much harm as you would like people to believe.
  14. It works, I just decided to publish without the image since LTT won't allow me to use the source site for the image. It doesn't allow images from newegg or amazon apparently. I found a new image and have it inside that last spoiler.
  15. Well first off we've got an 80+ Platinum kilowatt power supply from seasonic, the SS-1000XP. It has an RRP of $200, and occasionally goes on sale for $180. Currently Newegg has it for $159.99 and it comes with an additional $20 MIR for a total of $139.99 promo code: EMCPAWW24 Up next is the SanDisk Ultra II 240GB which is once again on sale for $99.99. It has 500MB/s sequential reads and writes with random 4K reads and writes exceeding 80,000 IOPS. Needless to say it performs quite well. no promo code is needed for this deal. Not as much of a deal as the other two but still a great price is the Corsair Vengeance K65 mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX red switches. It is typically available for $79.99, however it's been dropping down as low as $59.99, bouncing up to $64.99, $69.99, and then back to $79.99. Right now on newegg it's available for $64.99, and on amazon for $69.99 no promo code needed. From Corsair again we also have the H100i, it's available once again for $89.99, not a record breaking low price but a good deal nonetheless. promo code: EMCPAWW42 That's enough Corsair deals, next we have the Acer G227HQLbi IPS monitor for $109.99, again not a record breaking low as it's been hitting this price multiple times in the past few months but still a great deal for anyone looking for a monitor. promo code: EMCPAWW45 If there's anything wrong with the post just member tag me and tell me what it is, early in the morning and really long post so I might have made some formatting error.
  16. Look at it this way: If KFC for whatever reason gave money to or sponsored a gay rights group, while maintaining their opinion on gay marriage, would it degrade the gay rights group in any way? Aside from it looking bad publicly it wouldn't, the group would have more money to reach out to more people and make a larger impact. That's how I see the AT&T sponsorship of LTT. LTT openly expresses their opinion on fast lanes and net neutrality, and since according to Linus this sponsorship will not prevent them from expressing/acting on these opinions I see no reason to worry. Linus has not yet given us reason to distrust him, not to say we should believe every word out of his mouth, so if he's confident that this sponsorship won't impede his ability to oppose fast lanes and promote net neutrality then I see no reason for him to not take their money. Sure, given the opportunity he should pursue less toxic sponsors. But if one such sponsor allows him to cover a new event like CTIA without compromising his beliefs or content, and no other sponsor gives him a similar opportunity, I feel he should take the sponsorship.
  17. Congrats on reaching 1,000,000 subs. Which style content do I like most? - Well I like your content now quite a bit, but your videos now feel more like you're presenting the product to the audience rather than meeting it for the first time. This undoubtedly is because you switched from having the LTT channel as a secondary channelto it being a primary source of income, and it isn't all bad, by presenting the product to us you give us higher quality content. So my answer would be I really liked when you would walk around and maybe go plug something into a system to see how it would look, because you didn't already know, and do it on camera. Then again I also like more recent content like your Samsung U28D590D review which I have a quote from in my signature.
  18. The tech community is usually already aware of AT&T and other companies that are all over tech headlines, typically in a negative way, on an weekly basis internationally.
  19. I have no problem with AT&T sponsoring people with views contrary to their own, Linus has already made a statement that AT&T will not censor their videos, the sponsorship is only valid through the end of the show, and all they have to do is ensure that they cover certain AT&T parts of the show and show the intro + outro informing viewers that AT&T sponsored their coverage. @smjpl
  20. Do you trust the content produced by LTT at CTIA to be representative of their (LTT's) actual views despite them being sponsored by AT&T? Will you trust them in spite of the sponsorship or will the sponsorship make your trust in them wane?
  21. I created three options because I felt there would be people who A.Trusted Linus but not AT&T. B.Trusted Linus and AT&T. C.Did not trust AT&T and by relation any content of this show generated by LTT. I didn't think there'd be anybody on LTT forums who did not trust Linus or AT&T, and I felt that knowing how people felt about the sponsorship was the point. Had I wanted to know "do you want LTT to allow AT&T and other similar sponsors." I would have made that topic My poll allows the above question to be answered and the question of how people actually responded to the sponsorship to be answered as well. I didn't expect everybody to love the way I created this post though, and since only a few of the 1600 people who've seen this post,100 or so of which have participated in the poll, voiced concerns about this being a bad poll I'll take it that most of them had no problem with it. The options were already saying that, and I don't plan to rename it. I simply made it more clear for you.
  22. It has a "I trust LTT to give us content that represents products and services correctly and fairly to the best of LTT's ability, despite any problems I might have with AT&T sponsoring the show" option. "I trust LTT to give us content that represents products and services correctly and fairly to the best of LTT's ability, and I see no problems with AT&T sponsoring the show" option. and a "I do not believe the content that will be shown will represent all products and services at CTIA correctly and fairly to the best of LTT's ability due to the AT&T sponsorship" option. I feel I expressed all valid choices.
  23. @peanutsrevenge Our leader has spoken, and he says that you should vote in this thread if you want your opinion on this matter to be heard.
  24. I hope you don't mind but I added your post to the OP for the sake of anybody viewing this thread for the first time.
