  1. @Moody Catastrophe If you want in depth then PCPER. I mean look at PCPER's FreeSync vs Gsync video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkrJU5d2RfA If you're also open to reading instead of watching videos then in addition to PCPER there's TechReport and JonnyGURU. There's also OC3D, his videos are fairly good and are very exhaustive in covering all the bases. His videos aren't quite as in depth and investigative as PCPER and JonnyGURU but they're great for getting a large amount of information on a single product from a single video.
  2. I think he benched with DX11 but had DX10.1 selected when recording the menus to talk about settings.
  3. In that case he'd A.wait for a patch to come out or B.comment on the game being unstable on DX11 and explain that because of that he's using 10.1....which I don't recall him doing. But making a video using DX10.1, a.k.a The way it's not meant to be played and the way that many people won't play it, is pointless as a benchmark.
  4. Not sure if he actually benched it using those settings but it seems suspicious. @Slick menus, graphs, and screengrabs still look pretty bad in videos on Vessel btw........ It's less noticeable on regular footage though.
  5. @Vice_Stojcic Well according to core temp your min temp is 4C. So I'd assume the ambient temp is lower right now than when you tested last time.
  6. @TERAFLOP Already posted in Hot Deals........and it isn't Tech News....
  7. @SamStrecker@ONOTech@dalekphalm@imthewalrus@Aniallation@givingtnt Actually you have to install it, register for the auto-renewal programRequires a valid credit card so that they can charge you upon the expiration of your 1 year license for multi access , and you must stay enrolled in auto-renewal for the first ten months of your 1 year subscription. By claiming your rebate, which you can do right after you install McAfee and sign up for auto-renewal, you are legally obligated to remain enrolled in the auto-renewal until the 10th month of your free 1 year subscription. You have to remember to cancel your subscription in 10 months, and you have 2 months to remember to do so before you're charged for the renewal.
  8. I think adding with the purchase of a qualifying card would be a bit much for a title.
  9. If you purchase one of these two GTX 970 variants from a participating retailer in your region you get a free backplate for a card that typically wouldn't include it. You can also purchase it from the EVGA online store and get the free backplate. This deal applies only to cards purchased from the 17th through the end of April.
  10. @mattchew1991 updated post. Have you considered a Roku?
  11. @mattchew1991 @TheKDub An android platform will definitely be cheaper, however the AppleTV has one thing going for it that may justify the higher price, HBO NOW. There's also the option of a HDMI based streaming box/stick like a Roku which can be had for $40.
  12. Considering the way that they attach the drivers/speaker units to the headband I doubt it would be too difficult for them to add a mic option.
  13. I can't seem to install it. There's not even a process in task manager. Tried redownloading it 4 times, still nothing..... Anybody else having issues.
  14. @Victorious Secret repost? http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/348244-murderbox-available-for-preorder/
  15. I'm quite confident that Asus will release a GSync ,120-144hz, IPS monitor as a successor to the original Swift. Though it'll probably be $100-$200 more expensive than the Swift is right now, so somewhere in the neighborhood of $850-$950. That's if they release it fairly soon, if they wait a while to release it then they'll probably wait for the stock of PG278Qs to be bought up, phase it out of production, and then release the second generation 144Hz, IPS, GSync ROG Swift for the same price that the current one is selling for.
  16. Since the new post about Asus' MG279Q got locked I updated my post to include the relevant information....would make a new post altogether but Glenwing said and I quote "It's not enough to warrant a re-announcement thread for the same product." Link to my updated post. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/343403-updated-april-11thasus-mg279q-rog-dominator-amd-freesync-cerified/?p=4678044

  17. Because monitors with HDMI inputs almost always have built in speakers? Most 1440P monitors cost $350-$400;this one has a high refresh rate FreeSync enabled IPS panel, and the build quality of the ROG swift based on the outward appearance. Expecting it to be less than $599 or even $699 is like expecting Intel to release their Octa-core i7 for $400.
  18. That post is so short. You could have at least said something about it being the long talked about MG279Q....I mean the Dominator name is quite new, or you could have quoted the monitor specs embedded an image of it or at the very least mentioned that it finally went on pre-order with an ETA of May 4th after months of juicy rumours, rather than simply implying it offhandedly by saying it's £100 cheaper than the swift.
  19. @Blebekblebek 5GB per 10 min? wut? Netflix claims 7GB/hour for UHD. That's 120MB/minute or 1.2GB/10minutes. 16Mb/s. Netflix delivers 4K at a highly compressed bit-rate of 16Mb/s. So forget triple digit internet, Netflix is barely using double digit internet. Yes there are people who lack access to even 4Mb/s connections, but (according to the FCC) only 17% lack access to 25Mb/s internet in the U.S. That means 83% of people can drive a Netflix 4K stream in addition to other content.
  20. They've been using their own chips for years now, at least they have in their Asian and international models. They're the second SoC name I mentioned in my post which you quoted. Exynos.
  21. HTC's Vive uses two 1080x1200 panels. Oculus' Rift, the Crescent Bay one, has a 2560x1440p panel. And even if that is their plan it won't work because there's zero chance that a Snapdragon or Exynos processor can drive anything worth doing in VR in 4K at an appropriate frame rate.
  22. Air bubbles dislodged and randomly went away? That'd be my best guess as to the drop in coolant.
  23. I think the Snapdragon and Exynos lines of SoCs will struggle to drive the 4K display. And if they somehow manage a smooth experience the battery life will still plummet. It was difficult to retain battery life with less than double the pixels of 1080p (WQHD)........so lets make it impossible by quadrupling the pixels. Best.Plan.Ever.
  24. I can't believe that it's been well over a year since Netflix launched UHD/4K streaming and there's still no way to stream UHD/4K on PC. Who thought it would be a good idea to lock down the UHD/4K streaming option to a small handful of TVs and Blu-ray players? I can't think of one good reason for them to do this.
