  1. In theroy, build a shed at the location of choice, run power and fiber from the house and stick the modem or router in the shed and run a new network with QoS traffic shaping on the internal side, limiting all uplaod to 150kbs and downloads to 2500kbs.
  2. As an experienced tech with 20 years of service my top power supply brands for reliability and longevity are as follows in no particular order. Antec Silverstone Seasonic EVGA Corsair Be Quiet Cooler Master Sometimes (Thermaltake and Fractal) I say this because I have actually witnessed someone dying because of a cheap Chinese knock off or off brand like Delta, short circuiting and electrocuting him. You have your preferences and I have mine.
  3. see if there is an update for the controller. Not exactly sre how to on pc though.

Will the forum access resume at some point? Sub…

    No
  5. Yeah same. Currently relying on some Ubiquiti for enterprise.
  6. What's your monitor. If it's refresh rate below the frame rate your tearing.
  7. He's not beacuse thats the Spectrum webui on those modeam, router combos.
  8. Avoid everything except cosair, evga, seasonic or silverstone.
  9. Okay the second one either looks like the local router DHCP server (what assigns your ip) or your ISP's DHCP Server is getting ready to assign a new dynamic ip address to the router and modem, or a device on the network. The third one, the router is "smartly" changing your primary wireless channel which is basically the section of the band you're on to a channel with no or less interference than the one before. The first I have not a clue maybe a device going dark on the network?
  10. Dude he said he has a Z390 board. If it were me yes 16Gb of any decent speed ram (2666 MHz or higher) and for a cpu a few options: i7-8700K if you plan to eventually upgrade your system and aren't looking to piss away $500 on a Core i9 9900K i7-9700K if you plan on gaming and streaming a lot and don't have any reason for 8C /16T i5-9600K If you need something for straight game and overclocking. Remember that none of these chips come with coolers so you have to get an AIO or do some sort of high fin density cooler. Sorry I know this is a lot to digest at once. For a PSU aim for a Gold or Platinum 850 Watt or higher, because those cards draw 200+ Watts if my memory serves me right and if you overclock one of those chips you're looking in the high 600's for a draw. Hope this helps :)
  11. Yes That's what I do. Make sure the server has access to the subnet the server is on. I.E. if your openvpn gives out 10.1.2.1 and your server is on 10.1.1.1 then change access permissions to 10.1.1.1 and internet.

  13. This isn't a maybe it's a yes. Because they were delayed and owe $3 million in fines they have 60 days to stay on uninterrupted and have to help NY find a provider to cover. I live here and it's a fucking nightmare. I hope we don't end up with xfinity. I have never had a problem with spectrum and if i do they handle it professionally. TWc was a literal joke but the overtake fixed a lot. 14. Agreed since most games are gpu bound these days, a few extra slower clocked cores won’t hurt anything and will also allow for better streaming performance.

  17. Hello, I'm looking to build a pc and buy parts asap as I need an upgrade. I want to spend between $800-900 USD and want to have the following components in it at minimum R5 1600, RX 580 8GB, 16 GB RAM and I want somewhat of a theme of a monochromatic build. Thank you.
