  1. You enjoy the monitor though? I've never seen a TN and an IPS monitor side by side, so I don't really know how big the difference between them is. That Samsung one looks nice and is decently priced. Then again, the one I linked is only like $10 more and it's IPS. As for the 144Hz monitor you mentioned, unfortunately, the Canadian exchange rate is a bitch...
  2. Unfortunately, they cost around $800 here It's less money, but it has that "hunk of black plastic" look going on that I mentioned. I'll keep it in mind though. Do you use it? I don't play many intensive games. I'm pretty softcore in general, but I do enjoy some JC3 or GTA V every now and then. Oh, and Sims 3 seems to max out my GPU for whatever reason I'd downscale some of the more hardcore games to 1440p. I mostly want the 4K for media consumption and graphic design (hobby, not a job), but also to play lighter games at 4K would be cool. Would it happen to be this one? It caught my eye just today.
  3. I am in desperate need of a monitor. I've been using my old 720p TV from across the room for a while now, but it's gotten to the point where I have to squint to see anything. Couch gaming is fun sometimes, but not 100% of the time. So, now that I've saved up some money, I figured why not go for a really nice monitor, now that my new GPU (Gigabyte 1070 G1 Gaming) can support it? I looked at 1440p and 4K monitors, and it seems right now they're costing in the same ballpark, so I've decided to go with 4K (though I would be willing to look at a nice 1440p monitor worth its value). I've seen the LG 27UD68, which looks intriguing. It's currently sitting at ~$560 CAD, which is a bit pricey (gotta love the Canadian dollar), but okay as far as 4K monitors go. I don't want a generic hunk of black plastic; I want something nice – elegant, even. But I also don't want to break the bank on an $800 bezel-less monitor. Any of you have suggestions? I'm preferably looking for something <$600 CAD.
  4. I know this was a long time ago, but I can answer number 1 for you. I'm in Toronto, Canada, and I didn't pay anything in import fees. Not a penny. As for the GPU, I'm wondering the same thing, and I haven't gotten mine yet. And I don't have any water cooling set up in this build, so I can't help you there.
  5. I have the same issue! It just doesn't do anything when you click the app you want. It doesn't let me set Chrome as default at all, and for some reason, it doesn't show that Firefox is my default (which it clearly is, because that's what everything opens in).
  6. Okay, thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'll hold off until there are sound benchmarks for the r̶e̶f̶e̶r̶e̶n̶c̶e̶ "Founder's Edition". If I think it's too loud, I'll wait for different coolers.
  7. So I'm building a SFF gaming build in an NCASE M1. I have a working computer atm, but it has a crappy (borrowed) GPU in it, as I was waiting for Pascal to come out before I made a purchase. It is a small form-factor build, so I've heard a blower-style card could be beneficial. However, one of my goals here was to make a small, silent gaming PC. Everything else in my build thus far is silent, or close to it. I'd trade thermals for silence, personally (to a point of course; no 90ºC GPUs for me just for silence's sake). Any suggestions? I know we haven't really heard any of these nitty gritty details yet, but any speculation based off of previous events?
  8. Thank you very much! And never mind; when that day comes, only THEN will you have my dream setup!
  9. Also, where can I find this version of this song? Shazam told me it's called "Вэлетай" by Problema, but I want just the instrumentals, like you have; not with the guy rapping over the first bit.
  10. Holy crap. That's amazing! I've never seen anything like that before. How??? Also, I've been lurking on this thread for quite a while now, and it's all very impressive; not just the sweet LEDs. Pretty much my dream setup, you've got there
  11. I'm quite partial to the NCASE M1. Mine is in the mail as we speak!
  12. Putting aside my general preference of OS X over Windows (which I don't hate, but it's not my preferred main OS), I would go with the MacBook. They look good, the build quality is hard to beat, and it'll last you a long time. Plus, if you need Windows or OS X for anything, setting up Bootcamp or a VM is a breeze. After being spoiled with one for a while, I can't get used to using my little plastic Windows laptop, because most laptops I've used just feel kind of cheap compared to the high-quality full metal body of the MacBooks. Also, if you do end up going for the MacBook, you might want to wait just a little while; their previous update cycles suggest that a refresh is right around the corner (some are saying maybe even this month). Even if you don't end up wanting to shell out the cash for the latest and greatest (and I don't blame you; they're pricey), you'll likely find a better price for the 2015 model. That's my plan actually - if I'm not super wowed by the new models, I might try and grab an older one for cheaper (Protip: Try the refurb section of the Apple website. No refurbished Apple product I or my family have bought has ever had any problems, and they're typically a decent amount cheaper than they are brand new).
  13. Okay, I'll look more into a 390 then. Thanks
  14. My reason for choosing the 970 was simply because of the MSI 970 that has the zero-fan mode on idle. I'm also building in a very tight space (NCASE M1), so heat is a big factor, and I've heard that the 390 runs a bit hotter than the 970. If I can find a cool, quiet GPU that handles 1440p fine, I don't care what colour the box is. Heck, I might even wait for the new cards to come out a bit later this year. I've gone this long without a GPU; I can wait a little longer.
