  1. I suggest you read this article: http://www.aviom.com/blog/balanced-vs-unbalanced/ Basically a balanced cable cancels out most of the noise a unbalanced cable would pick up, though the difference is most likely not audible with cables shorter than a few meters.
  2. Your brain getting used to the headphone has a much, much greater impact on the sound than what physically happens to the headphone after a burn-in period.
  3. Going above 16/44.1 for playback will at best do nothing, at worse degrade the quality. Pointless.
  4. Nope. Talking about mixing and mastering. Also, software eq can be pretty bad but finding a decent one is easy.
  5. One of the reasons I use EQ is because my right ear is messed up. I have to dial down the 4-6 kHz range in the right channel as these frequencies are distorted and painful for my right ear. Other than that, I sometimes add a subtle bass boost on certain headphones because I feel they benefit from it. There's nothing wrong using high quality equalization (by high quality I mean it has to be reversible), your audio has been eq'd many times during its production anyway.
  6. I believe he tried to overclock his memory and got this crashing driver error, when he put it back to stock it solved it. In your case, you might have to go under stock (I agree this would be pretty terrible)
  7. My buddy had this problem, he had to underclock his gpu memory.
  8. You can't enhance audio. Software like that uses effects and compression, all of which actually degrades the signal. It's fine if you like what it does, but if you're looking for hifi avoid it.
  9. It should be fine really, my ODAC's been sitting in my O2 enclosure without any kind of screws holding it (I didn't have any and I was lazy) and it's been like 2 years, no issues.
  10. I can easily hit the 3072 MB cap of my HD 7950 at 1080p when playing my modded Skyrim or GTA V.
  11. I think i7-4790k is the obvious choice here. Hyper-threading will help you a lot.
  12. I know that's not very helpful, but you should really spend the extra 100 or so to get both the 970 and the i5-4690k with a Z97 mobo. The sweet spot for a gaming PC is at around $1200 CAD right now and you have to go for it.
