devbox got a reaction from Deletive in Will i7 6700K and Z170 get cheaper in a few months? (wrong section, please move)
From what I have gathered on the forums...the skylake chips won't be getting a decrease any time soon, but the Z170 boards, DDR4, and pretty much everything else should be getting price drops , DDR4 especially

devbox reacted to Sakkura in Intel Launches Skylake-K and Z170 Chipset
Intel certifies that it can do 2133. Anything above that is considered overclocking. But there's plenty of room to scale, from what I've heard practically all chips can easily go above 3000, and many handle 4000+ just fine as well.

devbox reacted to Agosto in Intel Launches Skylake-K and Z170 Chipset
Both Intel and AMD say "up to x MHz" on unlocked processors, but they actually can go much higher
In theory Sandy only supported 1333 MHz DDR3, Nehalem 1066 and so on, but it was only official speed and not what you could actually reach

devbox got a reaction from FellTheSky in Should I build a new machine or push current one for another year?
I think I'll wait for skylake.
lol no more AMD for me. I've always gone with AMD on the desktops but they're performance hasn't been good for a very long time. I really wish I could support AMD but their processors aren't worth it.
