  1. Not too excited about this. The Fury X is just AMD's way of keeping up with NVidia's TITAN and 980/980Tis. Probably isn't but feels rushed. Just not something I'd be interested in.
  2. Umm...the update times are stored with Microsoft to send out the update to be download. Not stored on your PC.
  3. Taking off your CPU Heatsink and cleaning up the fans. They can get really dusty and it does affect CPU temps. Maybe also dust off the interior space and all drives (ODDs, HDDs, SSDs, etc.) as well while you're at it.
  4. Best way to learn about tech is hands on experience. That's how I learned it and I'm a lot more literate than you might think. I got some help from a couple online courses and a friend's help, and then once I built my first computer, everything else was self-taught. So I'd say play around with tech a little bit. Start small. Get an old $10 Pentium G2030 Dell computer or something and take it apart. Look around and look up what you think each part is. Figure out the difference between PCI and PCI e. Just get curious in general about each part, what it does, how it does it etc. and look it up in a book or online. Do it piece by piece and you'll be a genius by the end of the day. Or just build yourself a computer and learn from that. Hands on will always be the best route for learning technology hardware, and just look for a free interactive online website course for software. I would definitely recommend www.codecademy.com
  5. The whole thing to me seems like the war between computers and consoles. The facts are that computers are capable of better graphics, run games better, and you can build a computer for $300 that's still better than a PS4 or XBox One. But so many people still like consoles more than computers for simplicity, easier setup, and other reasons. Its just their opinion. The same applies here. HTML embedding will always be better than flash when looked at from a technical and factual perspective, but flash can still seem like the better option to many due to whatever reasons. Its not something to get worked up about or to take sides on, but opinions do matter, and actually help out the world a lot by giving different perspectives.
  6. Not my original quote and wasn't from the source so didn't use the quote tags.
  7. You said that it was obvious that HTML5 is better, and that may be subjective to opinion not a fact. I do agree with you, but some people may not.
  8. Because there may be people who disagree with you for whatever reason is all.
  9. Source: http://www.technewsworld.com/story/Twitch-Yanks-Player-Controls-From-Flash-82306.html Through many stages, Twitch is going to leave Adobe Flash Player for their streams for security reasons. They have already begun the transition to the more secure HTML5, CSS 3, and Javascript. They plan to, with the aid of Apple, and other technological companies, use their new embedded code to prevent against stream hackers and other threats that could shut them down. Adobe themselves seem to be moving on from flash, which was never secure in the first place. Especially in games, where simple programs such as Cheat Engine could easily access and permanently modify embedded code with a bit of user know-how. In fact, Google's Chrome and Modzilla's Firefox internet browsers have specifically removed support on their platforms for Adobe Flash because of this. So what do you think? Is Twitch making the right choice in making this migration that will surely make the system unusable at times while they work on it? Should Adobe permanently get rid of their flash player system? Or are they overreacting to this minor issue that could (possibly) be fixed by some more intensive security? Leave your thoughts in the comments or vote at this poll*: http://strawpoll.me/5058962 *NOTE: This poll is simply for public input and will not have any effect on Twitch, Adobe, or any other company's decision about this matter.

    how/what to buy

But note that, like @spartaman64 said, you won't be able to overclock your CPU since its not an unlockable. So just find a heatsink that will keep it a bit below the Tj. Max at 100% load (find this out by running an intel burn test) and then use that.

    how/what to buy

You need one that has the right mounting hardware for your specific socket. In this case for the i5-4590 you'd need an LGA 1150 supported heatsink. I would suggest either the Hyper 212 EVO or the Hyper D92. Both have support for it and are both great at keeping even hot AMD CPUs cool.
  12. Update: Found it: http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/05/08/microsoft-windows-10-last-windows/?utm_campaign=yahootix&partner=yahootix (using Forbes link for same reason. Google it to find Microsoft's official writing). Windows 10 is the last in its series and from then on it'll just be a subscription plan called "Windows" as I said before.
  13. A subscription would suck for an OS. Especially in Elcld's case. I'd like to have a one time payment of $200 and then be done with it and not worried that my computer will shut down if I forget to pay yet another bill. You have to look at it from a consumer who isn't in a position to spend $100-$150/yr's point of view. Just my opinion and by the way, Microsoft themselves said it. I forget where but I would give the link if I knew where it was (promise I'm not faking this).
  14. And I'll go ahead and repeat what everyone else said. NO! Do not go past 60-65C on an AMD CPU under any circumstances! Tj. Max is 70C but don't even go near that. If you want more room to maneuver then use an Intel CPU. They can go a lot hotter without throttling.
  15. You may need to clean out your heatsink/re-apply the thermal paste as suggested by the guy above me. Make sure you only put a little bit, and don't spread it. Putting the heatsink on will do that. It might also be your case's airflow. check to make sure all your fans are facing the right way and that there is air flowing through your CPU heatsink to cool it off.
  16. Its been confirmed http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/05/12/free-windows-10-has-high-cost/ (Just using Forbes since its the first one link I came across. Lots of other sites say the same.

That's a spot for a 240mm water cooling radiator. You can put fans there but I'd leave it alone unless you absolutely need to I would also definitely recommend getting a new CPU heatsink (cooling system). Intel CPUs don't run too hot and have a pretty high tj. Max but cooler = more performance with less risk of overheating and BSODs. Besides, you can never be too cool. B) Water cooling is only necessary if its specific parts that need the cooling such as the CPU or GPU. If its the tower as a whole that's getting the bad temps get some case fans and mount them to create a path of airflow. When using case fans check the arrows on them. That'll tell you which way the air is being pushed. Set it up where you have an intake in the front low and side if you want and the exhaust in the back up top. Just my opinion. Good luck with your temps!
  18. If you have a clicking drive you may want to go ahead and (if you still have it under warrenty) move your files over and get a replacement laptop. It may seem fine for now but laptop HDDs are really unpredictable when they start showing symptoms of hardware malfunctions. Just my suggestion.
  19. He needs a device to backup to. Not just software to do so.
  20. If you don't have any money or a way to get some don't upgrade to Windows 10. Its going to be part of a subscription known as "Windows". So even though its free now, in a bit there's going to be an annual fee for it. Just stay with what you've got for now and wait for Microsoft to realize what an idiotic move they've made, and remove the subscription.
  21. I don't believe there's any universal account for all of those sorry. They're all different companies and have competition with each other so wouldn't really want to merge to make one login for all of them.
  22. No you can't combine a Apple or whatever account with a Microsoft account. There isn't a universal one either. Just use the same login info for both and it'll be pretty much the same.
  23. If they're Windows 8 and up computers just link each with your Microsoft account and then use that to login on all of them. Or of course you could just set the passwords to be the same. Not sure about Mac though.

    Gaming Hype!

Will this didn't take long to die. At least we got some good ones in the meantime.
  25. just thought of another one haha. Its more like 2 actually. Me and my friend are the idiots in this. I'm about 7-8 in this and am really tech iliterate. Part 1: So me and my friend got MCPE (Minecraft Pocket Edition. Yes, back when Minecraft was still a thing) on his ipod something or other (know nothing about mac products lol never bothered with them) and I got it on my Kindle Fire, and we kept wondering why his was lagging so badly when mine wasn't. Our brilliant conclusion? Well my device was bigger, and bigger = more space, more space = more places to put processing power units, more places to put processing power units = the more you have, and the more you have = the better your device is. I went on believing that for months DX Part 2: So we went to do multiplayer but had no idea how it worked, so we both went into bluetooth (or "the connector wifi stuff" as we called it) and basically started pairing with every random device in the house. His mom's phone, dad's pc, his alarm speakers, even the smart TV. For some reason they were all unlocked and we were suddenly controlling the house. O_O Didn't even realize it till the TV started randomly turning on/off when we pressed buttons.
