  1. That's actually a pretty cool looking projector. Will you do an actual review? The 200" is neat, but as you said complete darkness. How would something like that work else where you don't have complete darkness?
  2. Any particular reason behind that statement? What I've seen of benchmarks the 6700 does as good or slighty better than the 5820k. Atleast single core comparison. King, why Intel vs amd? You gave no reason
  3. So big argument among my nerd family is what I should use for my new build. I'm building for gaming as well as streaming, video recording and rendering. I've always used amd in the past due to my budget, but this time around I'm more flexible. I was originally planning on an I7 5820 until I saw skylake came out. Now I'm thinking 6700, but some folks are pushing for the 9590 for the fast ghz and higher number of cores. So I'm expanding the argument. Most games won't take advantage of anything more than 4 cores. So when it comes down to rendering and multitasking aspecta, what's the better choice? Is it the ddr4 with then 6700 or dry with 9590? What would your choice be if money wasn't a factor? Would it change if money was a factor? Why your choice? Thanks, if you can add anything that helps support your thoughts would be appreciated.
  4. Hey everyone, So here's the collected list so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Fp3yNG I'm based in the USA and I'm replacing a machine that is over 6 years old. I'm planning on doing more FPS gaming and in particularly planning on getting Fallout 4 once released. I'm also doing more movie recording & rendering on my machine and right it takes forever. Basically I start the process and go to bed and hope that it's done in the morning. I also will be using this machine to record my podcast, so I'll like it to be fairly silent so fan noise doesn't get picked up (like it does now and it's a PIA to try to digitally removed it) Some of the thoughts: 1. I'm looking at the 5920k Haswell 3.3 GHZ. From what I've read/seen this may make sense from the standpoint of all the things I tend to ask the machine to do at once - especially if I want to render my video mid-day during other activities. Is this the appropriate CPU? Is there a good way to make sure that the software I'm using is going to take advantage of the multiple cores and multi-threading. (I'm not using Adobe, using Sony Vegas right now) 2. Video Card: The 980TI is probably overkill for about 60% of the games I normally play. I chose the card partly because I'll like to play FallOut4 somewhat maxed out and I may not need to upgrade the card again for a few more years. I debated using the 970 instead but not quite sure 3. Power Supply: based on the partpicker I'll need around 500W. I was thinking 800W just to give me some future expansion. I've been told by another group of folks that I actually need a larger power supply if I want to use the i7 chips. Not sure what the right answer is. I do want to be able to have a quiet fan option so when I'm doing my audio recording and not pinging the heck out of the system the fan won't be so loud. So I'm looking for PS suggestions & thoughts on wattage amount ... And any other suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. I'm still using anow old Microsoft red light mouse from at least 2009,maybe earlier. Maybe time for an upgrade
  6. Didn't AT&T get slammed with a multi-million dollar fine for doing the same thing just a few weeks ago?
  7. Thanks for the feedback folks. I should've added that I'm in the USA (Wisconsin). The rig I have now is doing most of what I want, but there's definitely some big gaps and more coming once the fall hits (based on E3 at least).
  8. I'm working on building my first high performance gaming rig in 7 years. I'm planning on using this as my main machine for both gaming as well as doing some light video/audio editing and rendering. I'm also hoping that this is a rig I can use for another 5/6 years with recognition that I may have to gradually reduce my quality settings on same games to get them to play well. I started to go through the various reviews to start choosing components and then I listened to last week's WAN show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gad3h8yLA1o where Linus said that now wasn't a good time to be buying/building a new computer. I think I recall correctly that it was in regards of some of the new hardware that is set to release. So what do you think? Is there an over reaching reason I should wait until I start buying components? If so, how long should I wait and for what? As an aside - apologies if this is in the wrong forum. First post wasn't quite 100% sure where this should go. - Moderators feel free to move or direct me where to move the post if I"m able to do so. Thanks.
