  1. Recently upgraded from a i7-5820k, MSI x99 Gaming 7 Mobo, and 16gb of GSkill Ripsaw to a i7-8700K, ASUS 370-E, and 32gb of Gskill TridentZ My roomate really needed a new CPU, he had a 4th gen i5 from a prebuilt so I thought I would give him my old CPU, Mobo, and the ram I had in the System. My previous build was a mix of red and black, and with the Asus board being silver I thought I would switch it up and paint the case white along with the GPU shroud and backplate let me know what you guys think! 2. I actually just got that same monitor and a 1080GTX ~ a week ago. Have no issues running games in ultra, although you will not hit 144hz consistently on ultra settings in games like BF4, GTAV, ect.
  3. Its a typo lol sorry I never really noticed it. Its a 5820k. I noitce huge differences if I put games on the 950 since it does have upwards of 2200 MBS seq read speed. I'm just not 100% sure if putting the OS on it will make a huge difference other than boot time and system speed. I do recommend the M.2 though, its insanely fast and I've tested a few games on it and the load screens are pretty much non existent.
  4. Oh sorry I guess I should have thought about that. By migrate I meant a fresh OS install on the 950 :P. I've heard some bad things about the migration tool from samsung. Would it be worth it though to use the EVO for recording/editing and the 950 for the OS? Or would the difference even be noticeable?
  5. So I recently picked up a Samsung 950 pro m.2 256gb SSD and I'm curious if it would be worth migrating my OS to it, or simply using it for OBS file output/video editing which is what I'm using it for now. The drive my OS is currently on is a Samsung Evo SSD.

  8. I agree with this quite a bit actually. It's not just kids either... I've met quite a few adults who talk about their "godly" systems and hating on consoles when they, 1. Didn't build their PC/ Have any idea what the specs of it is. 2. Just bought a prebuilt PC that would give them X FPS @ X Resoultion in X Game. Don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of PCMR. The worst thing to come out of the PCMR "community" is all of the people who troll console players and any real PC gamer/enthusiast with b*llsh*t like I need a TITAN X to play games in 1080p @ 60 fps.
  9. If you figure it out or have any better results be sure to post. I didn't have this same problem but I can't OC my 5820k very high. Running a GTX H100i Cooler. Reseated it 3 times when I first did my build trying to get lower temps. I must have lost the silicon lottery, cant get above 4.3ghz @ 1.25v w/o getting too hot - 80c @ full load.
  10. One day when I went to biology class and this kid brought his laptop. Him- "dude check this out" Me- "Oh nice you brought your gaming laptop?" Him- "Yeah dude it has 32gb of VRAM" Me- "Oh so your laptop is running two titans in SLI?" Him- "No I had them install a 32gb kit instead of a 8gb" Me- "So what graphics card does it have?" Him- "Oh some beast cards, I spent 1k on it!" I just ignored him at this point. Later I learned it had a 780m which is a good card but seriously lol
  11. If everything is now hooked up right, you should be able to right click the H100i fan in the Corsair suite and choose its mode. Quiet mode, Performance mode, fixed %, ect. Basically just click the picture that tells you the RPMS of the fans and you can change how fast/slow it runs. Same goes for the pump. You can set both to quiet mode/peformance mode.
  12. Honestly keep your 970 and get another as others have stated. the 970 is SLI will run games at 1440p no problem. I might be a little biased, and the 980ti wasn't released when I purchased mine but I don't have any regrets with having the two cards as apposed to a 980 or a 980ti. Really the only game that has caused me any issues is Arkham Knight. And pretty much everyone else had issues with it regardless of SLI so you will be fine to enjoy games Plus even if the 900 series cards arent supported by DX12 for "Vram Stack" its not like you are going to have to run games that come out next year at low settings.
  13. In that case I would go with the 970. You wont have the Vram ceiling of 2gb and you wont be waiting on games with DX12 Vram stacking support. Also, you could keep the 960 and dedicate it to physics while your 970 does everything else. Plus later down the road you could always SLI the 970 and get even more performance and take advantage of vram stacking once it has become more supported. You also wont have issues with SLI in games so thats definitely a bonus too.
  14. My last PC was a laptop, i7-4700MQ and a 770m GTX with 24gb of DDR3. I recently built a new PC with a i7-5820k and two 970s in SLI. I pretty much had the same idea in mind but I'm already creating a lot of content and the 5820k was an ideal choice. Paired with 16gb of DDR4 @ 2666. I7-5820k overclocked @4gz with no voltage change and water cooled. I usually record at 80,000KBS in OBS and edit/render with Adobe and have no issue with frame drops during games like BF4 running in ultra with AA on with two 970s in SLI or any issues with the 5820k being able to handle the workload in adobe or OBS. Thats just my experience of what the 5820k and 970 SLI can be capable of. IMO if you are really going to get into content creation I would opt for the 5820k as said previously for the "workstation" like power. GPU is totally up to you since I can't really say if the 390 is worse or not since I don't own one to compare.
