  1. Still no uk release date for the air? I keep checking scan and still says pre-order
  2. Other than better gfx how is pc gaming better than console? I see a benifit to consoles being that you don't need to upgrade them to play the latest games. To upgrade my pc would cost more than the ps4 or xbones release price. (not including a new monitor) I am the last remaining person i know that actually has a desktop, everyone else i know has a laptop or an all-in-one. I will however be building a new pc at some point in time as i hate laptops and prefer to have a desktop with a large monitor, it won't initially be for gaming as i will keep costs down by not buying a gfx card till later.
  3. Both consoles having AMD did concern me as well, maybe this is why there desktop chips have not been too good lately, too busy designing console chips. From what i have read on IGN only 1 of the consoles was downscaled while some devs are supposidly saying they may have to keep one version of a game down to not make a clear devide. I'm not saying which console is which as i don't want to start any fanboy war. I know which i will be getting and mostly its down to the pad i like the most and which company i trust the most
  4. I stopped playing PC games other than tower defence and cim city over a decade ago. The cheaters that would hack into a game and basically be invisible in unreal tournament or delta force 2 ruined it for me. I'm basically just not willing to give it a go anymore purely to have higher resolutions i can't play at due to my monitor only being 1080p This is how i feel as well but couldn't put it to word as well organised. I wouldn't game as much as i do if i had to sit at the pc.
  5. My mums laptop is better spec than my pc, makes me so sad. Been waiting to buuiild a new pc but keep spending on other things like cars
  6. NVIDIA GeForce GT 520, 0dB edition lol. The last "good" gfx card i bought was a 3dfx voodoo 2 more than a decade ago, i had to trade in my sega dreamcast to buy it
  7. my main and only pc is stll a core 2 duo with a whole 2gb of ram.
  8. I really like these full aluminium htpc cases and am interested in building one soon. My question is about the pico power supply, if the case had room would you be able to have another ssd or maybe a 2.5" hdd or is there only enough connectors for 1 ssd and slim optical drive?
  9. Supposidly GDDR5 although good for gaming isn't good for system running which is why its not efficient and uses more than it should, not sure why they didn't use seperate DDR3 for the system and the entire GDDR5 for the gfx. 4.5Gb of GDDR5 though is still more than most gfx card out at the moment and if programmers are going to be coding for multiple cpu cores it can only help the pc side of things utilise more cores as i believe most games at the moment don't really use cores, or virtual cores effectively
  10. Then you'll love the UK, its cold damp and generally raining. We have a few beaches though so check before you go to a shoreline town. The summer is unbearably hot, luckily it only lasts a month.
  11. Looks nice, hugely benificial for me as i've been looking at that case for a while but not found any build logs or youtube vids of builds in english. Your 1st "damn it" with the heatpipes not reaching could have been solved by getting the extended heatpipe kit. What was the 2nd motherboard you ended up using? what was your 2nd "damn it" moment refering to as not being standard?
  12. surprised nobody has recommended the smaller corsair 350d that came out just after the 900d
  13. The baseball game on wii was the only motion game i found any fun at all
  14. Thanks for both reply's. I am aiming for completely silent as it sits next to the tv and the standard intel cooler drives me mad.Thought about things like closed loop water coolers but my brothers single rad cooler fan and pump are louder than the intel fan so that put me off. Will be building a complete new system soon so i guess it all comes down to what coolers fit on the new motherboards for Haswell. The Noctua NH-D14 coping at idle then spinning up a fan when needed might be the optimal answer. My system spends 95% of its life basically idle, I never turn it off as me and the gf are always just popping on and off it.
