  1. Hey all. I recently found photos of a old PC build I made 7 or 8 years ago using a Behringer Amp and converting it into a PC case. I no longer have it due to a house move and not having space to keep it, which was a shame as it was a good looking build IMO. USed a 200mm fan in place of the speaker at the front and used a sheet of aluminium to create a new top plate to fit the PSU. Thought it would be cool to post up hear and see what people think. I originally used this for my bass which I'd owned since i was 16. It was damaged by some old house mates during a huge fight at 3am, including the bass guitar. I was gonna throw it out, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. A few months later I lost my job and had to sell a lot of stuff to make rent, including my gaming PC at the time. I had some old spare PC parts to use in the meantime, but lacked a case. I then found this amp and thought "This would make for an aweome looking retro build", so I ripped out the old guts of the amp and went from there. I can't remember the parts i used. It had an old core duo I think and a old ATI HD something. Later I switched out the parts to an i5 second gen and a GTX 750 ti so I could play fallout 4. Shame I got rid of it in the end, but such is life.
  2. This sounds like a cool little project. Look forward to seening more progress
  3. Thought I'd post up a few photos of my personal build. I'm not really into RGB, but white lights with a Tron feel to them? Sign me up. It's been awhile since I had the chance to build a new system and what we parts being as expensive as they are right now, this is what I could afford for the moment. The system runs all the games I play perfectly fine at 1080p and my Oculus Rift S is very smooth on harder to run games such as HL Alyx. I was going to have a slighty better CPU however the company I purchased it from screwed me over so I'm using a different one for now and the NVMe is a small place holder till I can get a larger device. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Cooler: Cooler rMaster 212 Hyper Black edition Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Ram: Corsair Vengance Pro 16GB (2x8gb) 3600 RGB GPU: Palit Jetstream GTX 1070 SSD: WD Blue 250gb Nvme & Sandisk 250GB SSD (Games) HDD: 1TB 2.5 WD Blue & 2TB 3.5 WD Blue Case: Phanteks Eclipse P350X It looks amazing at night and and fits in with the rest of my setup in the living room next to my black retro Windows 98/XP PC box and VR setup. What do you guys think? Could I do anything better?
  4. With all that's been going on this past year I was really looking forward to building a new system. My Part list changed a bit, so I now have an MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk motherboard, 16gb (2x8gb) Corsair Vengance pro RGB ram and a 250gb WD blus NVMe drive in the living room waiting to be setup. However, I think i may have got scammed with the CPU. I ordered a Ryzen 5 3600x from a company that has great reviews and I got it for a decent price. Unfortunately, it hasn't arrived. I was given a shipping tracking number which doesn't show anything and when I try to call the company about it, no one picks up. I've emailed them with no reply. So yeah, feels like I got scammed out of £200. Maybe i should have done more research on the company, but it's such a kick in the teeth. I lost my job at the beginning of the pandemic because if it and it's been a struggle money wise, staying a float. VRchat saved me from going down the mental drain. The people I've met there really kept my spirits up and when my current system started to fail, knowing I couldn't interact with them was a downer. I did land a new job that i'm waiting to start next month which after a whole year is just a bloody amazing feeling, plus I came into some funds so I could build this system after moving into a new home and then this happens. I feel robbed, which until the comapny responds to my emails makes sense imo. I don't have another £200 to get a replacement, so yeah thanks shitty scammer. Beware of deals that look really good, even slightly. It may bite your arse off.
  5. Ok so it seems my budget might not allow me to get the Ryzen 7 3700x so i'm wondering if a Ryzen 5 3600 will be a worthy downgrade and still allow me to do the things i've listed in my original post?
  6. Budget (including currency): £600 Country: UK Hello everyone, So it's that time when the old system is just not doing as well as it used to do, so i'm building a new one. I wanted to get an opinion on the parts i'm selecting and see if anyone had any recommendations. I'm keeping the GTX 1070 as this has been running fine for the last two years I've owned it, plus buying a new one is impossoble. It's mostly going to be used for VR on my Rift S and some games like Doom eternal, Battletech & Cyberpunk 2077. Parts are a follows: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Processor DEEP COOL GAMMAXX GTE V2 BLACK ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3600 MHz Old system Intel i7 3770 ASUS Sabertooth P67 r3 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3 2133 MHz Cooler Master Evo 212 Palit Jetstream GTX 1070 Phanteks Eclipse P350X Case I've posted up a photo of the PC. It's an old setup but I try to take care of it.
  7. I like what you've done with the internal frame to mount everything, plus the neon acrylic adds a kinda late 90's vibe to it. Not exactly in keeping with the case, but I lke it dude. That power "button" is making my eye twitch though lol!
  8. Budget (including currency): £900 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Doom eternal, CS:GO, Apex, ect.... Hey all. So a friend of mine has a son who wants to build a new gaming PC for Christmas. He has a budget of £700 for a pc and then £400 for two monitors. I feel that £400 for two monitors is way to much and would rather spend £900 on the PC then £200 for either one good montior or two if possible. I think an AMD platform would be the way forward due to price to preformance. Minimum 16gb ram, A pretty good GPU and of course............RGB I could use some advice and maybe some build ideas as it's been awhile since I've built a brand new system. Last thing I want to do is recommend some parts and they're not compatable the the like. So yeah, any help would be great!
  9. Hey folks. A friend of mine wants to get a pc system that can run basic gaming like Vrchat on desktop and watching streams. The issue is she only has £300. Not a lot to work with, so I'm looking for some advise. What do you all think I can get part wise for that amount? I'm looking into second hand parts too so maybe that will help. Found this as a starting point: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LGA-1150-Gaming-Motherboard-Bundle-Intel-i5-4th-gen-Corsair-Vengence-8gb/324152340467
  10. The Sony NetMD Drive is really unique. I've not seen one of those in years. It's a shame you can't hook it up directly to the audio pins. Still, it's perfect for the old retro sleeper look. Look forward to seeming more progress on the build. Good luck ?
  11. Looking great! I love the work with the loop, plus the colour scheme, can't go wrong with the red and black look. Not too sure on the colour of the fluid mind you. Still good stuff.
  12. Good work for a first build. Maybe add some custom cables for the PSU and GPU and that would add to the look.
  13. I like it! I agree with _d0nut, Custom GPU backplate and PSU/GPU custom cable extensions would help it pop more ?
  14. Very cool case conversion. Gotta love the G5 case. Nice work ?
  15. I Really like this build. Any updates on how you're getting on with it?
  16. Loving your build so far. I'm a bit partial to the scratch builds but this is a very interesting setup so far. The cost of the frame work isn't too bad either. Are you looking to paint the frame or keep it natural? Look forward to seeing more ?
  17. I really like this idea. Sure it's not exactly going to be the most portable version, but a great build to look forwards too ?
  18. Cool project! I did the same with a Dell Precision T1650 and moved it into a Bitfenix Phenom M case. Look forward to seeing what else you do with this build.
  19. I'm currently running an EVGA GTX 750 ti sc on my Guitar amp PC build and it's killing me. I do love the card, but the sheer amount of noise it creates under load is slimier to living next to an airport with 767's flying over our head constantly while trying to play fallout 4 or Doom. Somewhat killing the immersion levels of gaming. I'd love to get one of these cards so I can play games with "hopefully" a quieter card and also look to maybe setting up for some VR, maybe.....
  20. Hello people, i've just got a new laptop and im looking for a wireless mouse to go with it. I was wondering if anyone could advise me of a few ideas of what to purchase. I have a microsoft 3000 wieles but its crap (the scroll whell never worked) so any ideas would be geat. I dont want to spend mega money, maybe £25-£30 or so.
  21. I think i'm lucky, this laptop has bluetooth installed which is normally connected to a second mPCIe port, so this would be better to lose than wifi i suppose. I think i'm gonna get this and see how well it works. Looks like it might be a good idea to build an enclosure to contain the PSU, GPU and board together, that could be fun to design.
