  1. So a while back I had a great Sony soundbar. Unfortunately it bit the dust due to a common software brick and the price to repair it isn't worth it. It's entirely software related, so I really would like to utilize the speakers themselves in some way. To do so, I figured I'd convert the wireless subwoofer into something more versatile for a future home theater setup. It's fully enclosed and sealed off, but I had a quick question. Coming out of the enclosure are these 3 cables. The largest is a 2 wire (most likely power delivery) plug header, the smaller is a 3 wire/pin connector, and the last is a ground. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm what types of cables these are, I'm imagining they're proprietary, but I figured I'd go ahead and ask. Last resort I will probably bust the enclosure open to check the speaker's terminals, then build a new one. I would much rather prefer to keep the current enclosure if any wire splicing or adapters are available. Thanks for any info, I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to speakers. I've only really done car audio and a simple 5.1 setup at my parents.
  2. Holy cow, checked out 3 Legged Thing's website and the travis tripod looks amazing. Folds up, super robust, and can even turn into a monopod. Gonna snag it once I get some funds in my possession. Thanks for the help both of you guys though!
  3. Looking to upgrade from my piece of crap 20 dollar cheapo tripod that I bought ages ago back at bestbuy. I already have a pistol grip ball head, so if the tripod comes with a mount, a video pan head would be nice. Hoping for something that could shrink down to fit into a backpack, it's a travel pack so nothing incredibly small. If not, just general suggestions for good tripods. ~$100 budget, give or take a bit
  4. I'm in this same boat. And as others have said, top picks are XPS 15 and Razer Blade. I also wanna add on a third option. The MSI GS Stealth Pro lineup is pretty decent as well, I just can't stand the damn dragon plate on the cover.
  5. Lol, lemme whip out my alienware to play some hunie pop in lecture but yeah, I'm so tied on the aesthetic. It'll save me some easy cash
  6. So a few weeks ago my old laptop, a Dell Inspiron 2in1 got stolen along with some other items from my car. Tried getting insurance money and failed, so now I'm gonna be using some extra money from my student loans to pay for a new one. I'm looking to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $1400, but im okay with budging just a tad more if I get a fantastic product. I currently have a gaming desktop that I bring to and from school, but next semester (Spring) I plan to study abroad in Japan. I have been planning this for quite sometime and even recently bought a DSLR camera to do some scenery videos whilst traveling, timelapses, and general photos. Anyways, with that all aside I'm really only looking at these few things with this a new laptop: Ability to Video/Photo edit Lightroom 6 Adobe Premier/After Effects Not taking 10 hrs to render SD Card slot not mandatory, I have a USB 3.0 card reader Ability to do light gaming Rocket League at playable fps, dont care if settings are maxed League of Legends CSGO Nothing nuts like GTA V or anything, just stuff to tide me over Not ugly gamer looking This thing is for school too, nothing stupid and flashy that is a cringe centerpiece in the classroom. Even if I am a Tech major.... With that down the only 2 things I've been recommended or seen (mainly at bestbuy where I used to work) was the Dell XPS 15 (most likely what i'm gonna get at the moment) and the MSI GS Stealth Pro 15.6" (If it didn't have that damn gaming badge plastered on the cover....) Any other suggestions? I don't mind if it comes with a crap HDD as I can swap that for an ssd if need be. Aiming to get something with a 1050, 960m, or other along that tier
  7. So recently I purchased a Nikon 3400 at my local BestBuy and I've been loving it so far. The only downfall is that it lacks a microphone input on the camera body. My question is, how would I go about incorporating an external recorder to my rig without having the damn thing just dangling around. In the next week or so I plan to buy a cage and want to mount the audio recorder via 1/4" so that its close and well held. I realize I could quite honestly just use some tape or some ghetto crap, but that's just not my style. Anyone got any clues? I was figuring maybe there are some recorders that have thread adapters built into them, otherwise perhaps just getting some kinda 1/4" clamp thing if that exists.
  8. Out of nowhere, my computer now takes 2 attempts to start itself. When I initially power it on, I am greeted by the Asus BIOS Screen. However, all peripherals are unpowered, and the startup gets stuck at this screen. Pushing the reset button immediately solves this and the computer boots up just perfectly and there are no issues. I've tried re-seating all components and clearing CMOS. Anyone have a clue on what this might be?
  9. Currently have a GTX 980 that's been serving me well for quite a while. Saw GTX 980's on Ebay selling for ~$260 which is insane. Wondering if it would be better to buy a second 980 (and a new PSU lol) or sell my current 980 and find a new card for ~$550 Thanks
  10. Amazing phone for the price. Need an unlocked phone for when i travel, especially with dual sim.
  11. GTX 980. Looking to do an overall downsize of my build since having a full tower seems to not be for me. As I'm currently a college student with a tight budget, I can use any bit of help I can get! =)
  12. Agreed, Jaybirds. Bluebuds and Freedoms are both some of the best ear buds I've ever used. Battery life lasts me over a week with daily use of up to an hour and a half.
  13. I currently have Logitech Z506's as my speaker system and i'm in the process of updating. I definitely don't have space or need for surround sound, so a 2.1 setup should do me fine. I'm looking to spend anything under $275 or so. I'm looking for the best sound for the money first and foremost. Would like to have multiple input's so I can use my TV and Computer, but it's not mandatory. If anyone could leave suggestions or experiences with speakers i'd be super thankful. Also, soundbars are another option. If you know of a solid soundbar then let me know!
  14. Actually now that I think about it. If I sell my 980 to get a new card, I can easily afford a 1080.
