I know this is an old forum, but I thought for anyone looking into laptop cooling I could help out in some way.
I personally have used many laptop cooling methods, including a lot of DIY stands and many different brand name cooling pads.
The pad I currently use is the only one where I noticed a considerable difference in temps.

I am extremely happy with my setup, and it stays completely silent even when on full blast (which it always is)
 
 
Hope this information was use to SOMEBODY, as I couldn't find many resources on Laptop cooling pad setups when I was trying different methods & products.

I would package them all up as if you're planning to RMA the whole lot. As far as the case, go to home depot and make a makeshift box with some bubble wrap or pillows or blankets to save some money. Ship it. I used to work for UPS and they do not handle packages well at all. Tossing boxes is common practice in their shipping facilities. Take no shortcuts. They hire teenagers, treat it as if it will be handled poorly, because chances are, it will be.

This post is exactly why I always keep the boxes for all of my components. You NEVER know when you'll need to transport them.

I want this to happen.

I just moved mine to not appear in the taskbar and not give notifications, so I don't have to see it. It does the same job, and doesn't require uninstalling anything.
