  1. After reboot I tried the vncserver command and I get the same error. Can't connect to the server via my Mac. I can SSH in to the server on MacOS and Windows however. Im guessing something is misconfigured but I dont know what.
  2. Sorry it took so long to get back, life happend. I installed Tight VNC using the command listed. When attempt to do the command to start the VNC server it comes up with the error : Warning: plex-server:1 is taken because of /tmp/.X1-lock Remove this file if there is no X server plex-server:1 New 'X' desktop is plex-server:2 Starting applications specified in /home/plex/.vnc/xstartup Log file is /home/plex/.vnc/plex-server:2.log This is where I get stuck every time. Like I said, not a Linux expert by no degree.
  3. That I can’t answer, I tend to use more consumer based solutions and the ER605 seems a bit more geared to business and higher end users. The big thing to look for is how fast the router can do NAT as that will be how fast of internet the router can handle. TP Link may or may not have published those stats. But you’re looking for the WAN to LAN and the LAN to WAN throughputs.
  4. I have a Plex server that runs on Ubuntu. I need to be able to remote desktop in. I do have SSH capabilities but Im not as well versed in the Linux command line and some times I need a GUI. For the record I intend ot remote desktop with my Mac, MacOS has a built in client. I used to have this setup but have since reinstalled the server due to upgrading to the latest LTS version. For the record this is version 22.04 desktop version. I run the server headless (I have a dummy plug for the HDMI) but I might occasionally need a GUI.

I just learned there are people in the world th…

My mom keeps some plastic containers or uses aluminum can from canned goods and fills them up. Then after the container is full she puts it in the trash. You should NOT put grease down your drain. You eventually will need to call a plumber because your drains can get clogged. Had a neighbor that did that for years, I think they had to have all their sewer lines replaced.
  6. I think AT&T was looking to offer something like that here in the US. Not sure if they did. Im pretty sure they launched the 5 Gig service. Granted not as cheap as this ISP is offering, definitely was over $100 USD. Comcast my ISP will provide 10 Gig I think, but you have to be with in 1/3 mile of their Fiber network, pay up to $1000 for install and activation, pay $299 a month and have a 3 year contract. Otherwise you mainly get stuck with coax based internet which we pay $96 a month for 400/10 with a 1.2 TB data cap, overage charges if we go over.
  7. You have two options, you get a PCIe WiFi card that has Bluetooth capabilities. You WILL need a USB 2.0 header as the card will have a USB 2.0 header on it and you are expected to connect a cable from the cards USB header to your motherboards USB header because that's how the Bluetooth functions. Second option. Buy a USB Bluetooth dongle. The benefit here is you dont have to open up your PC. The second benefit is you can place the dongle in a place where you would get good reception. Only advice I can give here is spend more than I did. Bought a Bluetooth adapter for $6.99 on Amazon way back in the day. It worked for the most part but Id probably recommend buying a better one.
  8. Bear in mind that you have to put the AT&T provide gateway in to IP pass thru mode, AT&T requires customers use the gateway device it is also your ONT. IP pass thru will by pass the router functions on the device. Then you connect the ER605 to that and it should recive your internet IP. Dont. WIFi never lives up to its full advertised speeds. Many times speeds are limited by the devices connecting due to antenna designs or the amount of antennas the device has. There are also tons of things that just interfere with WiFi. That being said, being mounted to the ceiling will do a lot to spread the signal and you should probably get decent speeds.
  9. AT&T provides a modem/router with their service. Most American ISP’s provides a modem/router combo.
  10. I have a Synology RT2600AC, it wont do Gigabit internet tops out at 850 Mbps or so, but they do have an updated WiFi 6 version id imagine that probably will do better. The router has been operating for 4 or 5 years with no issues.
  11. Most co op multi player games. Golf with Your friends Baulders Gate 3 Killing Floor 2 Grid Legends (fun with mulit player or without if you like racing games) Dredge wasnt bad Vampire Survivors is a great game for killing time, very easy.
  12. Not that sneaky. The NSA was caught with a box connected in to an AT&T Data center.

My sister in her infinite wisdom had the follow…

In the 15 years of driving I have never had snow tires. We just use all season tires. I however drive like a civilized human, while everyone else drives like this stole it. The reason Ive never owned snow tires is tires are fucking expensive. I spend $750 on the ones currently on my car, which includes life time balancing, rotation and road hazard. Plus Michigan doesn't see the snow like it did when I was a kid. We might get one bad snow storm for the season, I work for a company that if its really bad we get a snow day. We have been sent home early due to weather before, with pay I should mention.

Its a mixed bag in the US. Some states have emission testing and annual inspections to states like mine that dont do anything. Before Obama did the cash for clunkers, you would see a lot of "wow, how is that piece of shit still on the road?"

My sister in her infinite wisdom had the follow…

One of my co workers wanted the boss to let her off early due to snow because she had bald tires. She likes to go out on the town and didnt do her responsibility as a car owner and buy new tires. Needless to say my boss didnt let her go and told her it was her problem for spending money on bullshit instead of buying new tires.
  16. Did the board have WiFi included or did you add a card? Because PCIe WiFI cards that include Bluetooth have a USB connector on the card that connects to a internal USB 2.0 header I believe because Bluetooth is delivered over USB.
  17. My mom is also trying to loose weight. She stopped smoking 15 years ago and gained a bunch of weight and has been trying to loose it ever since. My dad doesn't give a shit, hes actually has Diabetes and takes a pill before he eats to help stabilize the sugar, he seems to be cool with that. For the more part my mom does make veggies with all dinners. I just got better at making sure I eat them. Most of the weight I have accumulated over the last 25 years of my life is on me. Food is my vice. I used to eat when ever I was stressed, and back in the day when I worked fast food I was always stressed. Used to leave work, head to a store and buy bags and bags of candy and consume them over the next day or two. Used to eat fast food all the time. For lunches its all on me. I do buy my own food, I take my mom grocery shopping each week and she buys her and dads stuff. I help with dinners in terms of covering some of that cost. I buy all my lunch items. All my beverages and such. Dinner is on her, as I really never learned the skill of cooking, maybe I take that up this year. I eat 3 square meals a day at least during the week. Dont always eat breakfast on the weekend. I know I was over eating because your not suppose to eat dinner 1 and then dinner 2. I was buying two big bag of chips each week to eat on the weekend, as well as Jerky and beef sticks. Not to mention some candy. Id say I was eating well over the 3000 calories a day. Plus I didnt eat much if any fruits or veggies. Ate lots of prepackaged shit. Now Im trying to eat more fresher things.
  18. In my experience most modems/routers dont collect that info. When I last replaced my router I specifically looked for a router that did that. Because Comcast back in 2016 implemented data caps in the area and I wanted to have my own reporting to ensure their data meter was within a margin of error. For the record Comcast supplies that info on their website when you log in as a customer as well as their App. Maybe Century Link has that info on their website?
  19. Im staying away from the frozen foods. I dont really eat Fast Food any more. Im making better choices when we go out to eat. I also stopped with the snaking. No more chips and such. I got some Honey Roasted Peanuts if I want a snack. I started eating Greek Yogurt for breakfast (I like to add some type of berries as well) instead of one of those Jimmy Deans Breakfast sandwiches. The biggest thing for me is I dont eat after dinner. I used to eat a nice sized snack many days. The other biggest thing is Im limiting how much sugar Im consuming. I gave up on Candy. I do get sugar from my Liquid Death teas (about 4 mg) but I choose those over the sugar free pure life because the Liquid Death's have less caffeine (30 mg vs 75 mg). But I dont drink the teas at work for lunch, helps me get through the day. I also started eating less bread. Using wraps as an alternative. Basically im replacing all the bull shit I was eating with fruits and veggies. When it gets warming hopefully some walking. If I drop another 28lbs I should be able to use my mom's treadmill, because its only rated for 220lbs. Current plan its to walk Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturday and Sunday. Im also going to try to get out of the house more this year instead of being a shut in.
  20. At what age is legal to work in your area? Here in Michigan for example is legal to start working at 14 at many jobs. There are jobs that you cant do, due to hazards and have to be 18 for, but there are tons of jobs for younger people. Many times however there are restrictions on how many hours you can work during the school year and the hours you can work. I dont know how things work in your area. But im part of some Facebook groups where I have seen people ask for help with odd jobs. One of the groups Im part of is a job group for several communities in the area. I see people posting all the time who need jobs and they get responses back. Maybe look at staffing agencies if they exist in your part of the world, they might also be known as temp agencies, as these are for companies who need temporary workers for specific time periods, etc. One of the old past times here in the US is kids would do yard work. Mow lawns, rake leafs, shovel snow, etc.
  21. Ah yes. AI the new hotness. I will not be using that feature.
  22. Thats kinda an edge case however. Most people wont pay for two services. Like I said you just buy the phone out right. Or buy directly from the manufacture or an unlocked device and there isnt an issue. Because the people financing their device, if they cant afford the device they likely cant afford two service. On the side note, how do you like Visible?
  23. Ive never used a second sim when I had a phone that did have multiple sim slots. Its not really common in the US for my understanding. Most providers offer "Unlimited" plans. I know T Mobile offer calls, text, and data in Canada and Mexico at the very least on many of their plans. Granted data might be lacking a bit but is probably fine. What exactly is the purpose of the second SIM?
  24. What speed is the Ethernet ports rated at? If your Ethernet ports are only rated for 100 Mbps for example then yeah the WiFi can be better than a cable.
  25. My advice. You might need to look in to "Business Internet". It will likely cost a ton but if you want 10 Gig that might be the only option. I know ISP's in the US will install business internet at a residence.
