  1. Excited to see where I land on that R20 sheet as it gets updated, I should hopefully be able to pump out some more scores soon with my new job giving me enough spare change to actually save up for a more sophisticated cooling setup! I'm gonna blast past that 4000 barrier
  2. There are many videos on the topic, especially with the 5000 series right now on youtube considering the 5600 xt snafu.
  3. I've seen green screen issues with AMD graphics cards back when the fury series first came out, and was fixed with bios revisions. I'd say update to your cards latest bios.
  4. Damn that's probably THE cleanest optiplex sleeper I've seen, cleaner than a lot of systems in modern cases even haha. Absolutely awesome job!
  5. Whew boy that's a beast of a first build!! You did an awesome job, looks rad as hell!
  6. Ah good ol crosley cruiser record player, vinyl elitists love tricking people into thinking they destroy records when really the tracking force is acceptable and the stylus is easily upgradeable to diamond. But anyway, this seems cool I love suitcase style builds. You should try to make some front I/O in place of the speaker grills on the front.
  7. I think that definitely explains my troubles lol. Maybe I'll borrow an A/C unit and jayz2cents my way past 4k. Appreciate the help ?
  8. Sadly while I was able to push my cpu to 4.03ghz after dropping my ram to 2666, I still got between 3980 and 3990. I'll try and work on it more next weekend because I'm obviously missing something important. I'm thinking it might be a thermal limit since I'm still only air cooled, I'm definitely pushing over 80c under load with these ocs.
  9. I'm even more tantalizingly close to 4000. 4.02ghz is the furthest I've been able to get this thing, and adding @Tristerin's realtime trick gave me that little extra boost. I think I can get there if I can work out another 10 or 20mhz. My system is just so sensitive past 4ghz haha, it's such a gamble whether it'll crash or not.
  10. That's awesome to see, I've been trying to hit 4k on my 1700 since r20 came out haha, best I've gotten is 3975. Sadly I cap out at 3.93ghz in bios before failed boots, and cinebench crashes with ryzen master over 4ghz. Tweaking memory pushed me past my initial 3935 barrier, but 14,16,16,32 at 3200mhz is as much as it can handle. I'm sure if I invest in a bit better memory I could get there.
  11. I prefer simplistic monochrome aesthetic with an accent color. Example, my setup is black and grey with violet accents. I don't want to sit at a desk that gets my heart rate up with big flashing red lights.
  12. I think perfectionism plays a big role into it for me too. I worry about getting the absolute most for my money, even if anything I buy is a massive upgrade from what I already have. And since the market moves so fast it's difficult to just buy something because people are already building hype for the next generation of things and I OBVIOUSLY wanna wait for that before upgrading. Pretty much all of my hands on computer skills and knowledge nowadays comes from fixing and upgrading other people's pc's because mine is so rarely touched haha.
  13. That's fair to be honest haha. I hate having the worst system out of my friends, but I just can't bring myself to buy better parts. My only other upgrades have been because the old ones died haha. I DEFINITELY worry about all those things too. I've had two msi motherboards come DOA when I was first getting into computer building, and I always second guess whether I really need new stuff or not.
  14. I'm pretty far behind in upgrading a lot of my parts, but for some reason I get a lot of anxiety about buying new stuff? I have a really shitty case, a terrible tv as a monitor, and a fairly old R9 380x gpu, but I can't bring myself to upgrade even when I've had multiple chances to. The only reason I moved up to the ryzen platform a couple years ago was because I had my partner click the order button for me. Has anyone else dealt with this type of anxiety, or am I just an idiot? haha
