  1. What do you mean by good battery life? On a day to day basis I'd be plugged in, but I fly home 5-6 times a year and I'd like to be able to watch a movie or two, during the 4 hours I spend at the airport /on the plane. For me 5ish hours at a lower brightness would be enough.
  2. I'm in the market for a new laptop. My budget is around 1500 Euro.I use my laptop mainly for youtube/netflix, video chats with my girlfriend, when I'm on the go some SolidWorks modelling and the occasional gaming (LOL and Forza). Right now I have a Lenovo Y580, which I've had for the last 7 years and it's finally giving up the ghost, so I'm looking at replacing it. For now I've narrowed it down to the Triton 500 and Legion Y740. I can get both with an I7, however 9750h for the Lenovo and 8750h for the Acer, 16 GB of RAM, RTX2060 and 1TB HDD+128GB SSD for the Lenovo or 512GB M.2 NVMe for the Acer. They both retail at 1700ish Euro, however I can get 20% off for both, so they are in budget. Or I can get both with an I5-8300h, with 16GB of RAM for the Lenovo and 8GB for the Acer, for about 300 Euro cheaper. Right now I am sort of leaning towards the I5 option. My reasoning behind this is that I have a Deskop PC with a 4 core 4790k and I've never managed to reach a point, where that wasn't enough. If i were to go I5, I'd probably get the Lenovo, because it is easier to upgrade and I'm probly going to ditch the HDD for a 2.5 inch ssd. My main question is has anybody got any experience with these laptops and what do you think of the I7 vs I5 question ?
  3. I'm in the market for a new laptop. I've had my Lenovo Y580 for close to 7 years now and it is starting to slowly give up on me, it has random crashes, it is slow and dimwitted even on fresh windows, it's just old. Since I fly on a semi regular basis, I want something lighter, like sub 2kg, but I'd still like it to be able to perform. A SSD is also a must, at least 250GB, 16GB of RAM will be nice, but not a must, if not 8GB will suffice. I'd also like it to have a dedicated graphics card, something in the range of a GTX1050. I mainly use my laptop for surfing, watching videos on youtube and schoolwork, but I sometimes have to open CAD drawings and work on them. I don't want nor do I need a 4k display. As for display size, I'd like it to be 15 inches. For now I've been looking at mainly Lenovos, mainly the Ideapad 330s, Ideapad 720s and Yoga 730 and ThinkPad E580. For now the E580 is my favourite with a I7-8550U, 8GB of RAM, 256GB PCI-E SSD and RX550, even though it weighs in at 2.10kg. Priced around 800 Euros it's well within my budget. I looked on the internet and I can't seem to find a review from a reputable source on any of these. Does anyone here have any experience with any of these laptops or have a suggestion for a comparable one?
  4. Right now I have a AOC i2369vm, it is a 23 inch 1080p 60hz IPS panel, however I am looking to pick up a second monitor. The only reason I got it was because I was short on cash at the time I built my pc and the monitor was 150 Euros. I use my computer primarily for school work (I am a mechatronics student so lots of CAD rendering) and watching movies and some gaming on the side. 4K is out of the question, because I neither need it nor can my R9 290 run it at a decent frame rate. The debate is between 1440p and 1080p. I am looking at a 27 inch-ish monitor. However a 27inch 1440p monitor is a bit over my budget of 350-400 Euros. And I can't shake the feeling that 1080p at 27 inches would look shitty. Should I save my pennies and go for something like a Benq XL2730Z or shoud I just get something in like a Dell U2515H or even a 27inch 1080p. I am also planning a GPU upgrade in the near future to maybe a 1070.
  5. I am not going to be overclocking. I would love to get me some type of AIO liquid cooler, but my case doesn't really support it.
  6. I built my PC a couple of months ago, ever since I've been getting a black screen crash even if only watching videos on youtube. The thing is when I built the PC I didn't really think much about cooling and after troubleshooting everything else I have narrowed the problem down to having only 1 intake fan in the case and no exhaust. I have a 4970k with the stock cooler and a Powercolor R9 290 PCS+ so it get's hot even if only idling. As of writing this with only Mozilla open I have 58 C in Core 0, 54 C in Core 1, 54 C in Core 2, 53 C in Core 3, 57 C Package temp on the CPU, GPU is running at 50 C and my 850 Evo SSD is running at 38 C and the case I have is a Cooler Master K280. I am thinking of getting 3 new fans, scrap the one that came with the case and go 2 intake on the front and one exhaust on the back. The case supports 3 120mm fans. Right now I am looking at getting 3 Noctua NF-F12 and later on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Cpu cooler. Are those any good ?
  7. My rig has no name. CPU : I7 4790k at stock speed GPU : Powercolor R9 290 at stock speed RAM : 2x8GB DDR3-2400mhz
  8. I tried removing one RAM module and after a couple of hours it crashed as it did before. Then I put the other one in same thing happened, but this time the audio didn't stutter, it remained quiet.
  9. So I built my pc just about a year ago. In the beginnig I didn't have any problems with it. But then it developed a very annoying bug. It just black screens for no apparent reason. Funnily it only tends to crash while doing light loads, like browsing the internet or watching videos on youtube. What happens is first the screen turns black and then the audio starts to stutter. The only solution to this is to pull the plug and reboot. It is really getting on my nerves and I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me resolve the issue. The build consists of the following : i7 4790k at stock speed with stock cooler, G.Skill Ares 2400mhz 16gb, Msi Z97 PC Mate, Powercolor R9 290 PCS+, be quiet! B8 550Watt and a Samsung 850Evo 250gb.
  10. Has anyone got exprience with the U2715H and the BL3200PT ?
  11. I wouldn't really do it any other way, but I still tought there would be an obvious difference.
  12. Hey guys, I need some advice. Right now I have a AOC i2369vm and I am looking for a second monitor, so I can do my CAD modeling on one and watch tutorials on the other one. I really want the second one to be 1440p, but I am not sure how it would make the 1080p AOC look. The 1440p panels I'm looking at are Dell U2715H and BenQ BL3200PT. I like the U2715H, because at a later date I could buy a second one and it would not be bizarre, my dad also has one and it looks pretty darn good. On the other hand I like the BL3200PT, because it is bigger so the pixel density would be closer to that of the AOC and also it is bigger, so I can use it to watch movies on it, so there would be no need for me to buy a TV for my dorm. I do the occasional gaming, but nothing too serious. Have you guys have any experience with these monitors or with 1080p side by side with 1440p ? P.S. I have a R9 290, so it would not be much of a problem to run the monitors.
  13. Right now I have an Iphone 6, but I am really starting to miss the QWERTY phones of the good old days.
  14. I just stumbled onto the Blackberry Priv and it got me wondering if any other QWERTY phones are out there ? I did a quick search but nothing came out. Do you guys have any ideas ?
  15. For you budget I go the following : CPU : I7 4790k MOBO : MSI Z97 Pc Mate RAM : G.Skill Ares 16GB 2400mhz PSU : Be Quiet! 500W non modular 80+ Bronze Graphics : Power Color R9 290 PCS+ Samsung 850 Evo 250GB Case : Cooler Master K280 With a lesser CPU u can spend some more cash on more RAM and a bigger SSD.
