  1. Since upgrading to win 10 have a recurring issue where my connection will completely die on my main machine (wired) this is after hours or use, verified when it occurs other wired and wireless devices are fine, so I'm pretty convinced its an issue with drivers (potentially something else causing a conflict?) logic behind this is that removing and reinstalling the driver fixes the issue (ip/release renew do nothing nor does diabling and reneabling the adapter) The driver in question is BigFootlan 1.154.1334 (latest version for win10 64bit) I have also tried to roll back the driver to the previous win 8.1 version (10.0.39.1003) has the same issue but also adds a Ram spiking problem where with 3 Chrome tabs open 90% of 8GB is used (googled this error seems common). Just wondering if there's anything anyone can suggest? I'm assuming im not the only person using this board. other than that I think I may have to go back to 8.1. 2. Was going to reply on the same lines, honestly even if you went with the i7 5 years is a long time. Minimal settings in five years *should* be attainable but who knows honestly.
  3. I use an i5 with a GTX 980, since the majority of games still rely on single thread performance currently there's not a real reason to go with an i7 unless you do a lot of video encoding or rendering which would make use of the extra CPU threads. The question of whether that is a future proof answer is more difficult for all we know every developer could start creating games reliant on multi threaded performance, personally for the short term (maybe 2-3 years) you would be more than fine with an i5. I'd also recommend a K variant CPU with a Z97 board so you can overclock.
  4. What do you get if you run an ipconfig command? Windows firewall on/off? and the most obvious have you accidently removed drivers?
  5. Windows firewall? I've been using w10 since release yesterday I had the same error, firewall had somehow turned itself on. Yes I had the correct drivers installed as explained by the connection previously working in w10.
  6. Think I've figured it out, somehow Windows Firewall had turned itself on, upon turning it off I am now able to use a dynamic IP.
  7. I took the latest version from Gigabyte, and even tried the previous one still wouldn't work. Like I say setting a static ip manually has done though
  8. I've had a fine internet connection for months and this translated well since I migrated to windows 10. however earlier today my connection suddenly stopped, I phoned my ISP as its quite common for issues in my area, they stated after troubleshooting that my network cable wasn't plugged in correctly which it obviously was, to fix the issue I tried numerous things, different Cat5, disabling and re enabling the drivers, ip release and renew to no avail. I have somehow managed to fix the issue by settings a manual/static ip and DNS, Although my issue is fixed I don't really understand what's gone on, Id like to know if anyone can explain this please.

  11. No, I'm 100% serious my old H60 had the same issue.
  12. Try the O-ring mod for the H60.
  13. iirc its an issue with 64bit Chrome, I've taken to just using Firefox to launch Battlelog.
  14. Yes I realise there's legit reasons you'd want to rip DVD's.
  15. I mean that does make them uneducated in regards to bandwidth units though, doesn't mean that he/she lacks an education (might be a history genius or a great mathematician) but in this scenario... Is is polite or tactful? nah, is it true? yep.
  16. Check driver version numbers? make sure it's not the same one. Wasn't 14.12 released before xmas?
  17. Coming from an owner of a completely different GPU I tend to agree,
  18. Was having issues with the same driver last week, again seemed to be linked to Chrome as in game was fine, I ran DDU and reinstalled them had no crashes since.
  19. I have the game on Steam, can't remember buying or playing it. I'll download it now see if I run into the same issue. EDIT: I didn't have any prompts asking for a disk, only securom asking for the cd key, and then GFWL asking for the same. Just checked through my emails apparently I bought it from GMG too.
  20. For some reason I always think of convective rather than passive when radiators mentioned.
  21. I didn't realise the Athlons came with an AIO water cooler tbh. If it really was 114c you'd know about it lol
  22. Thanks for posting this mate, I've just gone from 18MB/s downloads on Steam to over 40MB/s. I suggest everyone use this method, the guy also has a guide for increasing wireless signal! I'm going to try that later after I run to the store and get a metal wisk! (one of the required items)
