  1. Will be submitting my 1080 scores as soon as nVidia ships the damn thing and I've had time to fool around with it. Hope to get it by this weekend.
  2. So this is confirmed 4K BDRom?!?! In that case this is a must buy for me!!! It will compliment my 4K tv perfectly.
  3. I said screw it and bought the FE yesterday. I'll leave the stock cooler on for a bit then replace it with my H55. Tired of waiting so I jumped on it.
  4. The 1080 is certainly an upgrade over 2x 970's. I'd even argue the 1070 as well. You'll have more and better performance.
  5. It's fine. As long as it's non conductive you're okay. You can use 91+% iso alcohol to clean off the transistors. Just be delicate because well... they're delicate little things. I suggest coffee filters to clean with.
  6. When I bought my 980 Ti it was all nVidia branding. Warranty went through nVidia and everything. I saw a post elsewhere stating this time nVidia is randomly picking a vendor, but I don't know how accurate that is. As for the physical components well, TSMC makes the GPU die, but I'm not sure what company makes the PCB. Obviously it's all engineered by nVidia.
  7. Is nVidia trying to price themselves out of the industry altogether or what??? I mean, yeah, there's people (like me) who's willing to pay for these products but good lord... most people can't afford that and/or not willing to pay that much for a mid range card. I can easily see the Ti going for $900 USD FE and the Titan $1200. For people wanting/needing 1070/1080 performance and not being able to afford it, then with AMD's continued incompetence to challenge nVidia leads to a very bad position for PC gamers. The prices for nVidia will continue to rise. I am quite sure Volta will receive another $200 increase in prices to the point of mid range cards costing as much as a Titan X. It may sound wrong to many, but AMD is to blame here. If they were more competitive we wouldn't be seeing this shit to begin with. nVidia can get some blame. I mean there's no reason for their cards to cost this much. I find it hard to believe that going to a new node costs so much that they have to increase prices. Even Intel went to 14nm but the prices remained the same. But AMD deserves a lot of blame for all of their fuckups over the years to the point they can barely challenge nVidia toe to toe whilst bleeding money left and right. I can't blame nVidia tho; people will pay. I'd charge more too with the cesspool of incompetence known as AMD, and knowing is easily get away with it.
  8. eBay has a bunch of em..... well if you're willing to massively overpay for one. I use the website nowinstock as it alerts me the moment they go in stock. Very useful. But you have to be quick, like... logged in to newegg / Amazon 24/7 and already have payment info in with fingers as fast as lightning.
  9. So if this supports 4K, does this mean it will have a 4K BD-ROM, or just support 4K playback?
  10. Well, the 980 was $549 at launch. It dropped to $499 when the 980 Ti released at $649. That's a $150 dollar difference. Seeing as how nVidia upped Pascal cards by $50 dollars over the previous x70/x80 cards, I don't think it's too far fetched to believe the 1080 Ti too will have a $50 dollar price raise. Another thing to factor is Vega and AMD's price positioning as well.
  11. $899 FE and AIB starting at $799. That's my guess. It all depends what AMD do as well.
  12. I'd be willing to bet most people would go for the cheaper solutions over 1 person sample. MSI card is not some god card, it is (to me) not worth spending over better alternatives. Hell, for that much I'd rather get a Classified, not some overpriced mid range MSI card. Regardless, it's moot. It's not going to launch at that price once available.
  13. I just find it hard to believe that MSI is going to overprice themselves out of their competition. Who is going to pay $720 for MSI when you can get AIB cards anywhere from $50-100 dollars cheaper.
  14. Newegg is notorious for price gouging new cards. That $720 is in no way real. I bet the X version will be $649 and the Z at $679 once more widely available. Another thing, Amazon prices are not from Amazon direct, they're from scalpers. There's dickwads that buy these cards to sell them $100-200 dollars more. I can't stand fuckers like that.
  15. Still wish nVidia would abandon the SLI bridge once and for all. Looks so much cleaner to me and scales way better.
  16. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure some may find this helpful. Im waiting on the EVGA FTW.
  17. Welcome to the world of reference coolers. I made that mistake with my 980 Ti. Never again. Make a custom fan curve in Afterburner. It will be louder but it will bring temps down.
  18. Looks like VRAM is dying. That's what usually causes artifacts.
  19. Gigabyte has released 6 firmware updates since that article was published. I'm sure it's fixed by now.
  20. The new Strix cooler is loud AF! Sounds like getting sucked into a Boeing 757.
  21. GTX 1080 outperforms them all, if you need it and have the money for it. Other than that, if not a 1080, I'd suggest you wait for the 1070 as it'll release in 6 days. You can also wait for the 480 as it releases on the 29th.
