  1. Hey y'all, Trying to decide on something. I got an Asus FA506IV last month but have been debating to take it back to Amazon and get a Lenovo Legion 5p or keep it. The FA506IV I got has coil whine when using the RTX 2060 (not incredibly intrusive, can't really hear it when the fans rev up but annoying since I know it's there now). A few other software related annoyances have cropped up, not being able to reverse the Fn keyboard function in Armoury Crate/Bios, WiFi card being troublesome and preferring 2.4GHz over 5GHz networks with no option to set preference in Device Mangaer and VariBright re-enabling itself constantly messing up the brightness and gamma being common, but I also noticed the 5P has better thermals, a higher TDP 2060 and a better screen, while being similarly priced. FA506IV - £999, 4800H, 2060 90w, 144Hz BOE 100% sRGB Display 300Nit, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM (Since upgraded to 16GB), 48wh Battery, 2.5" Bay (already fitted 1TB SSD), Realtek WiFi 5, AURA RGB Keyboard, Webcam Legion5P - £999, 4800H, 2060 115w, 144Hz Panda 62% sRGB Display 250Nit, 256GB SSD (slot to upgrade), 90wh Battery but no 2.5" Bay, Intel Wifi 6, White LED Keyboard, No Webcam There's pros and cons with both but trying to decide if I should use my return window with Amazon to swap the machines or if I should just keep the Asus. Far as I can see it, the Lenovo would run faster and cooler, has a better screen, much better battery life, better WiFi card (although both are user up-gradable) but the ASUS has more storage potential with 2x NVMe and 1x SATA at the expense of battery life (I get about 2:30hrs on it, not great), an RGB Keyboard with real physical touchpad buttons (albeit smaller keyboard arrows) and a Webcam (albeit a basic one). What do you think? The 4800H and 2060 combo performance wise is definitely suitable for the games I run so happy to stay with the same or similar config. -Mark
  2. Tyler seemed like such a soft spoken and nice fella on Camera, can't believe he's gone.
  3. Which would be better? Acer Nitro 5 AN515-44: AMD Ryzen 4600H, 1650Ti 4GB VRAM, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 144hz 15" Screen - £770 -OR- Asus Zephyrus G GA502DU - AMD 3750H, 1660Ti Max-Q 6GB VRAM, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 120Hz 15" Screen - £732 I'm leaning to the Zephyrus for it's better GPU and slimmer design, but the Nitro 5 does have a significantly better CPU and a 2.5" Bay for an SSD upgrade (although the Asus has a 2nd NVMe). I've whittled down to these two based on current offers and sales in my area, anyone have either or have advice on which is better? Thanks!
  4. Went with the Plus, no regrets great speaker, thanks for the help guys
  5. Hey there, Deciding on which Echo to get during the Black Friday sales. Would you get the Echo 2nd Gen for 59.99 or the original Echo Plus 1st Gen but with a Philips Hue White Bulb and an Amazon Fire TV Stick for 89.99? Wondering which is the better smart speaker sound quality and microphone wise? 6. That projector looks SAVAGE! 60 inch screen on my bedroom wall.. pretty frekkin sweet if you ask me
  7. As a cheaper option a friend told me of the Lenovo Y700, price is pretty awesome (starting at $700 on the U.S Store), but the use of plastic throughout doesn't scream quality, and I would have to wonder about that Radeon, doesn't seem as powerful as the others. Otherwise looks not too bad for the money http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y700-series/y700-14-inch/
  8. Has anyone seen or had any experience with the Aorus X3 Plus V5? http://www.aorus.com/Product/Features/X3%20Plus%20v5 Looks pretty cool but trying to find information on where to buy and price. Seems to do well in the reviews
  9. Hi There Guys, I need your help on an upcoming purchase. I'm planning to get a new laptop to play games on for travel. I seem to be out of the house more often nowadays and I need something both powerful enough to do some 1080p video editing and play GTA Online, Cities Skylines and Metal Gear Solid Online. I've looked around at a few systems, I want something portable that I can take with me on flights and general travel, so I'm looking in the 12-14 inch size range, anything more is just too big to be practical for my use, as at home I'll have my gaming desktop. Whats made my shortlist so far: All Prices Here Are Quoted From The Websites Listed in Canadian Dollars The New Razer Blade 512GB http://www.razerzone.com/ca-en/store/razer-blade $2999CAD Pros -Great Form Factor, Well Made with a nice size and weight -Powerful, with a GTX 970m and a Quad Core Skylake -Looks, which are awesome, Love the Backlit Keyboard Cons -Price, which is a lot... ------------ Alienware 13 http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-13-r2/pd.aspx#overrides=nae132_f_h4e:8~640SSD $2799CAD Pros -Looks cool, like the Alienware styling and the Backlit Keys -Cheaper -512GB Drive has a 128GB M.2 SSD as additional storage for the price, which is useful Cons -Slower, Only a Dual Core Processor and a 960m by comparison to the Razer, -Thick Chassis, not as thin as the Razer -While cheaper, not a lot cheaper at this config, and compromises are being made for not a lot of savings ----------- Microsoft Surface Book (okay not really a gaming laptop by any means, but very portable and at least has dedicated graphics) http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msca/en_CA/pdp/Surface-Book/productID.326660400 $3499CAD Pros - Great Design, really thin and light, two in one design very versatile, especially on flights or trains - Awesome Battery Life - Has an nVidia Dedicated Graphics Card Option - It's a tablet and a Laptop, leading to less bulk when travelling as one device can be used for everything Cons - Very Very Expensive, like even more expensive than the Razer - A lot less Powerful, from what I gather a Dual Core processor and nVidia Chip is similar to a 940m in power - As far as I know there is no fan in the dock, don't know if the nVidia chip thermal throttles or not, but could be an issue - The battery in the tablet part doesn't last very long if not docked in the keyboard, it's really a laptop first, tablet second - Money is being spent realistically on design of a thin in light, instead of performance. Could hurt in games Any thoughts guys? Feel free to correct me on anything I missed or got wrong, basically all my impressions from checking the web. If you have any suggestions for other machines in the same sort of category please let me know, I'm sure there is more out there I haven't heard of yet. I'll be flying to the U.S at some point in June so if there is any system that is particularly cheaper in the U.S than it is in Canada let me know if I should be buying it there instead. Thanks for the help guys -Mark
  10. Here ya go https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81503/Intel-HD-Graphics-for-Intel-Core-Processors the 460m is a 1st Gen Arrandale based i5, this link should do
  11. If you can find one cheap the GTX 750Ti is a mighty card, I have one of them for my tv rig and it can do about 55fps in the likes of GTA 5 with most settings on high
  12. Time for another adventure!

  13. Even with the locked multiplier? I was considering this mobo with it https://www.dabs.ie/products/asrock-h61m-vg4-intel-h61-1155-micro-atx-2-ddr3-sata2-pcie3-B5WS.html?refs=469740000&src=3 its an asrock with a H61 chipset
  14. Yeah I'm trying to keep the budget low, it's only gonna be a secondary system for playing games in the living room, I already have an FX-9590 with an R9 290 in my main rig for my main work and games, so I'm trying not to spend a lot as it's gonna be used every so often for some gaming and probably movies and catching up on Vessel videos. I have a Kingston Hyper X 128GB HDD and a Seagate 7200rpm Barracuda, so IO shoud be fine I think. My housemate has an i3-3220 and the same GPU and he is running 60fps very smooth on high settings, so that sort of performance would have me happy
  15. That's something I was considering actually. Stick with the stock heatsink initially and when some extra money comes around, get a Hyper 212 or somthing and overclock the 860k. People seem to be getting some good overclocks on air with the 860k
