1. Thanks, just found ASUS WS X299 SAGE - and looks like that could workout with the CPU selection for that card, im not sure about AMD and virtualization, so i will stick with intel and what i know.
2. Hello. Im trying to build a box for AI workload (Inference/image recognition) that it is going to run a unraid setup like this: 4x VMs for analysing images. (GPU) 2x VMs for downloading/preparing images for the 4 other VMs (CPU, low load) im just not sure what motherboard and cpu to go for, as im not super much in to hardware anymore, but i do know i would like to add 4x RTX 2060 SUPER (TU106-410-A1) 2x NVMe SSD Correct me if im wrong, but i assume that the 4x GPUs can just run with 8x and then the 2 SSDs with 4x (so 40 lanes), so im looking for any suggestion for a MB/CPU that supports that ? I looked at ASUS WS Z390 PRO, then i realised that i could not fit that with a CPU with enough lanes, as the i9-9900K only have 16lanes, so now im a bit lost. Price is not super important, but if i could keep the cost somewhat down that would be great Thanks in advance.
3. More bad news in the CPU department, as a hardware-feature on AMDs Epyc CPUs that are responsible for encrypting the data in VMs have been defeated by a german team. I dont know the extent of this, as im not sure how many actually use Epyc in production VS how many uses Xeon. Source https://thehackernews.com/2018/05/amd-sev-encryption.html Im a bit tired of all the bad CPU news.

Power usage of fans?

Ill make it fit im not too worried about the airflow, its in my nas and the disks are only 5400rpm plus its mostly for backup / clod storage, so ill think it will be fine, i was just worried about the fan's dying, or the buzzer going off as it might think the fan are broken.

Power usage of fans?

Thanks guys, just added/borrowed a picture from google, as you can see its a normal 3pin
6. Hello clever people at the LTT forum, Im more a software kinda guy, so this might be a stupid question. I want to replace the HDD Fan mounted in my Chieftec SNT-2131 the current fan are a Young Lin DFC802012H Server - Square Fan (DC 12V 2.8W) and i was thinking to replace it with a Noctua NF-R8 REDUX 1200 (DC 12V 0,42W) to reduce noise im not sure if that will work, due to the low W on the new fan, do i need to but some resistors between the fan and the board, or no need to worry ? or can you maybe recommend another low noise fan thats a better for the job ?
7. i know , maybe i wrote it in a misleading way the other side of the board powers 2 sata drives
8. hello, I need to power 5 boards with 1 molex each, and each board powers two SATA drives. So i was thinking of just buying a splitter with 6 times molex and cut the last one of as i only need 5, but im not sure if it is a great idea to run 10 drives of a single cable.. (heat) how many drives do you think i can run on a single cable?, i would like to get as few cables as possible ofc The disks are mixed in brands and sizes (9 HDD and 1 SSD) My PSU have 4 x 6pin to molex, so i can run up to 4 cables and the 12V rail has 36A/432W bonus question where to get good and long 6 pin to molex cables from? Thanks
9. i will leave one fan on, maybe i will try a couple of different fans & i will try and see how the temps/noise are with custom fan curve compared to the low noise adapter
10. Thanks for the fast answers, LNA it is
11. Hello. I was wondering if would be okay to leave the fans off the CPU cooler if i install a Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 on a stock i7-5820K within a SilverStone Fortress FT05 like shown in this video thanks in advance
12. This should do the trick (it can also take the youtu.be links) $content = "www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zgp_G5o6Oc";$content = preg_replace_callback('/(?:www\.)?youtu(?:be\.com\/watch\?v=|\.be\/)([\w\-]+)(&(amp;)?[\w\?=]*)?/', function($matches){ return "{$matches[0]}"; }, $content);
13. No you cant, that injection is not going to work. but you are right, no point in using deprecated libraries

Anti-cheat?

Yup you make a checksum of the data + something secret, and check the data later on if that + the secret matches the checksum and yea they can still modify it if they really want to, but not through a simple process like just editing a value, they need to know how the code works in order to calculate the checksum for the new value.
