  1. Where do you get those stats, the ones I see from the site show us at 3rd monthly. You're numbers looks much more informative though.
  2. Getting WU is the biggest bottleneck for me as well. Hopefully if Linus gets that node set up we can boost our numbers. As a side not we are at the #3 monthly position now, only beat by default and curecoin. We are within range of default, might be able to overtake it soon which would be massive.
  3. Is there any reason why I've never seen anyone use an oil filter on a mineral oil PC? I'll admit I haven't seen too many mineral oil PCs, but it seems like a simple fix to one of the biggest mineral oil PC problems, dirt.
  4. Alright I think I have a problem with the Math from the Ryzen bit. I do not believe that : Lets look at some fake numbers, easy ones to make the math easier. Let's say we start off with 100 IPC and 100 Hz clock. If you increase the IPC by 15% you have 115 IPC, then increasing the clock by 15% gives you 115 IPC x (100Hz x 1.15) = 13,225 IPS, this is a 32.25% increase in IPS. I know this is a little improvement but I just wanted it to be clear that you can't just add together these numbers. If it was 60% IPS and 60% clock you would have an improvement of 1.60 * 1.60 = 2.56 -> 156% not 60% + 60% = 120%. Hope this clears it up, the Ryzen gains are actually better then you might have expected (but not by much)
  5. Honestly I wish there was somewhere I could bring it that could actually diagnose it. I'm curious what could cause issues like this.
  6. I want to add that everything should still be under warranty so besides effort it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also another funny detail the repair guy told me that "You would need a team of engineers to fix your computer". And I want to mention that before the second time I brought my computer in I checked one last time to make sure I wasn't crazy and the computer worked, it didn't. I Uber to the computer store, and drop of my computer and I get a call the next day. "Hello, ya I just tried tuning on your computer and it went right into windows, what did you say was wrong again?". I told the guy the problem, he said he would run a few more tests and 2 days later I got a call from him confirming I wasn't crazy and that there was an issue.
  7. I've got a story to tell, so be prepared because it might be long. A few months ago I started to put together a new build. I had built my previous computer with barely any knowledge and although I love it, it could have been better. Since then it has been over half a decade, I have learnt a huge amount about computer parts and have helped at least 2 dozen people build computer over the years, never had a problem. So now that it was time to build myself a new computer I wanted to go the whole 9 yards, rgb, tempered glass, you name it. I ordered all the parts and put the computer together and it was magnificent. I installed Windows on my new M.2 and was running some benchmarks. Then the crashes started. They were random and I couldn't see any obvious problems. I updated the bios, and there was no difference, then I tried getting into the bios and it would just skip the bios screen and go directly into windows, then it happened. Error code 0d. The computer no longer booted and only showed an active black screen. I tried everything, an nothing would work, eventually I decided the motherboard was broken and got it RMAed. They repaired it, sent it back and would you guess it it still didn't work. I RMAed it again, and this time they sent me a new one but it still didn't work. I RMAed a third time and this time brought the new mobo to a computer store and had them diagnose it in case I was unknowingly bricking boards. They found an extra standoff on the case, said it was shorting the board and said that was it. I rebuilt the computer, and it worked, it wasn't stable but it worked. And then it got less and less stable and then like all the mobos before me, error code 0d. So I bring the computer back into the store, here is where it gets fun. The repair guy works on the computer for a week and half non stop. He tried switching all the components out and nothing would get rid of the error, the computer seems to be limiting itself out to 100W on the CPU. Again no matter what component of combination of components the guy changes the code still happens. So the repair guy builds a completely new computer using the same parts I have. It works. He then tries to switch one of the components from the new working build with one of mine, and it gets the error. So he puts back the new part and tries switching a different part, same problem. No matter what component he takes from my build to add to the new build it gets the same error. So the build is haunted. It's like a virus has infected the whole thing, any part instantly corrupts a build. I've been instructed to RMA every part and try again. Just my luck. Tell me your nightmare build stories, and we can laugh at our misery. Sorry for the long post.
  8. I do have XMP but I was seeing the freezes before it was applied. No other overclock, I prefer to have a stable system before overclocking.
  9. Ya I was thinking of running Memtest. Guess I should do it. I'm worried about power too but I feel like it should power off instead of restart if it was. Plus running under load doesn't induce a freeze.

  11. Built my computer recently but I've been having some weird freezes. The entire computer will freeze and only a hard restart will get it working again. I also feel like I'm not getting the performance I should from my machine but that could just be me. I'm wondering how I should go about trying to find the source of the problem. I can't seem to find a single thing that consistently freezes it. At best it seems like it freezes when I give it too many things to do at the same time. What should I test and how, are there things that I can use to log stuff, programs to run stress tests on various components. In case you were wondering here are a few of the thing it has crashed doing: opening 30 seconds into a Youtube video, this happened a couple times, I disables hardware acceleration and it stopped opening games, seems like it is generally the first time I open something. Updating windows Just in idle I've run a number of stress tests Cinebench: Runs fine Furmark: Seems jittery even at low reolutions Crystaldisk: Runs fine Prime95 : Runs fine on the FFTs that only use cach but fails on the ones that use memory Please let me know if you have any ideas!
  12. I've got the CMOS battery out now, I will put it back in soon and see if that fixes it. I had the RAM at stock (RAM model) but that is 3200MHz, I will lower it if I get into BIOS. If that doesn't work Memtest sound like a good next step, thanks!
  13. I finally got all my parts together and powered on my build for the first time. Here is a list of my parts: Asus crosshair hero x370 Ryzen r7 1700x intel 256GB NVME M.2 SSD 2x8GB TridentZ RGB 3200MHz RAM Corsair RM750X PSU GTX 1070 strix 2x 2TB HDD H100i v2 cooler I had a bit of trouble booting the first time but i figured it was because I needed to update the BIOS and be because my RAM speeds weren't supported yet. So i did that and this still were weird. It would take a very long time to boot into BIOS every time (default setting) and then always tell me that the overclocking failed (I didn't overclock) but I was able to get into windows. When in windows sometimes the computer would freeze and sometime the screen would go black for a bit before just acting like nothing happened. I finally got all my drivers downloaded and ran a few benchmarks ignoring these issues. I then enabled XMP for my ram and put it at the appropriate frequency, when booting after it would seem like ti would start booting the fail and then try again, did this a few times then I got into windows, I open CPUz and it says I have my old speeds still on my RAM. So I try to boot into BIOS but not I was getting error A9 and it would never boot. I tried clearing the CMOS and resetting but it didn't help. The error is now 0d and my computer won't even boot into BIOS. What should I do?
  14. Sorry Nick just saw it go up on float plane, thanks
