  1. Hey guys, I really appreciated the feedback from my previous build log almost 4 years ago. I wanted to share my most recent build with you guys and see what you think. I have been using it now for close to 2 years now, but now am getting around to posting it here. - A quick note - As I mentioned before in my previous build log, I was a stainless steel fabricator. I mostly welded stainless still or mild steels. This was my first time welding aluminum. The welds are ugly! You've been warned ! ****Here is a step by step of the build process***** https://imgur.com/a/q90Xm Here is a slight improvement by added a beer holder Here is a link to my other fabricated desk in pc build
  2. Ok. Here is the back story. I decided to re install a fresh copy of windows 8 on my desktop. I'm not worried about saving any files on the ssd, so I have re formatted the ssd with the previous os on it (500g), but I also have a smaller ssd that I bought later ( 250 ). What I wanted to do was reformat both the ssd's and re install a fresh copy of windows onto the 250 ssd, while saving the 500g for storage and daily use. When I began the install and clicked the customize, it sent me to the screen with all the currently detected storage devices. I previously disconnect all except the 2 SSDs. Unfortunately, I keep getting a message , " Unable to install windows on this disk" I have googled this issue extensively and have partitioned the disk using the command prompt , diskpart>list disk>select disk _>clean. No luck. There are a few other things that I've done in the command prompt that have to do with the MBR and GPT, with no luck either. In the error message, it also said to make sure that the controller for the desired disk was enabled in the BIOS. I have checked to make sure that all of them are. The interesting thing is, even after I have cleaned the disks, and partitioned them, windows will only re install on the original 500g SSD. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Its not the end of the world if I have to use the 500g, but its bothering the hell outta me that I can't figure this out.
  3. I finally uploaded a quick over view of the computer. I will eventually post some step by step fabrication. I have all the videos, just need the time :lol:computer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6rKv5-C_tg.
  4. I took a look at L3p D3sk. The builder has done a great job with the design. I actually borrowed the design from a builder on the EVGA forums. He was kind enough to give the rough dimensions of the build. It was still quite a bit of learn as I go, but it was very kind of him to assist with whatever questions that anyone had about the building process.
  5. I like that. I was originally thinking of using the name from the movie Zoolander, "Blue Steel" lol. There are some impressive builds in the 2nd round of the build off competition.
  6. Crazy gamming room. Maybe one day I will have my very own gamming room! You give me hope good sir!
  7. Here is the link of the overview of the finished desk. I am planning on uploading a few more videos of the step by step process for those interested in the fabrication side of the desk. http://youtu.be/37L8ojCHYuc
  8. The reason I didn't originally post the specs is fear of criticism lol. I have less than half the knowledge of computers compared to most people on this site. It seems there usually is someone quick to tell others how "dumb" a certain component is for choosing a specific component. So, ***DISCLAIMER*** I am new to building computers lol. Power Supply - Corsair RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K ( overclocked to 4.5Ghz ) Memory - G Skill Ripjaws X Series ( 16GB ) Mobo - Asus Maximus VII Hero HDD's - 1 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM , 1 TB Western Digital SSD - Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB Video - EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4 GB Windows 8
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys. I have had a lot of my gamming friends and others suggest building and selling these. The desk itself took about a week on my free time to build. The only problem with selling them is that it isn't the lightest thing out there. This desk is, however, 100% able to be disassembled. It almost seems like it wouldn't be worth trying to make money off of one unless it was sold close to me. I had about $200 in material to assemble the desk. The 3/8 tempered glass was a little over $200 itself. The cost is in the time it takes to fabricate and run everything.
  10. I wanted to share with the forums of Linustechtips, as I used his tutorials a lot to help me with this build. I appreciate forums like this that have communities that are so willing to freely assist others with tech help. I have not named the build, but I am planning on submitting it in the build competition thread. I wanted to say first that this build was not an original idea. I borrowed the idea from a different forum. The builder actually borrowed the idea from a Red Harbinger desk. That being said, this is pretty much my first build I've done myself. Its also the first time water cooling for me as well. This is where Linus Tech Tips really helped. It also helped a lot in my selection of components. I have about 20 photos to show the process of my build, and am in the process of uploading videos of the step by step process of fabricating and installing my components on youtube. I will link the channel if there is interest. Last note, I am a stainless steel custom fabricator by trade. For those who know anything about the trade, I am aware that I am tigging mild steel rather than migging. It is a lot easier for me to do so considering the project does not need to be structurally stout. The welds will hold up just fine ! ! ! lol
