  2. I don't know how to fix this, but changing the sata slots of the hard drives, shouldn't be an issue, i did that when i put my apart to upgrade it, too, and i never had problems because of it
  3. yeah, but 1 970 gets to about 90-100fps, so 100 for 970 sli is bad
  4. I myself do have a 970 sli setup, and it runs like hell. I only have problems with bf4, it really doesn't use sli very well, there many other people reporting about this problem as well. But other games run really good with this, bf hardline performed much better in the beta than bf4 does right now. I play on a 1080p/144Hz monitor, and in bf hardline i got to around 160fps, while bf4 won't go over 100, which is basically the single 970 performance. S if problems with bf4 won't annoy you, sli 970s is the way to go, from both a performance and a bang for the buck perspective if you compare it to 980 sli
  5. First, ddr stand for double data rate, which means that data can be transferred at double frequenzy, so getting a 1333MHz speed at 667MHz bandwith is totally normal. the important thing with dual channel mode is to watch for the sizes of the ram dimms. You can do a dual channel setup with the 4gig dimm in slot 1 and the 1 gig dimm in slot 2, but the cpu can only access the first gig on each dimm together in dual channel mode. So actually, you have set up you ram the best way already. But i would recommend to simply buy new 8GB dual channel ram, as you then have your whole 8GB in dual channel mode, plus 1333MHz ram is quite outdated.
  6. thank you guys, you saved me a lot of trouble
  7. just one question, is your card a pci or a pcie card?
  8. i do need one as the onboard sound does not work anymore, even though i got no idea why i tried different speakers, reinstalled all drivers, reinstalled windows, nothing worked i guess i have to send my mobo back and get a replacement
  9. Hey guys, I'm building a pc with a sli setup. My cpu is an intel i7 4770 on a msi z97s plus sli mobo. My problem now is that i need to have the gpus in 8x/8x, otherwise they won't work. Am i able to connect a soundcard over a pci lane? the only spec concerning pci/pcie i can find on the i7 4770 is the number of pcie lanes, i don't know if the pci slots would run over those pcie lanes or if there are seperate lanes for, then i wouldn't be able to use the second gpu AND an additional soundcard.
  10. First of all, thanks for all your fast replies i hadn't heard of the vram issue on 970s, so thanks for bringing that up, too. But as I already own one 970, I have no other than buying another one, but the vram is no problem for me anyway, because I go for high refresh rate instead of high resolution now the only thing left to do ist to decide which 970 i want to buy, but I think I'll go with the strix, as it it seems to be really quiet Thanks again for helping me with this issue guys
  11. Hey guys (this is not austin ), I'm planning on doing a sli setup with two 970s. Now i plan to use different cards and i don't know if the pcb has to be the same for sli to work. I know it does have to be the same card with the same amount of vram. I also want to explain why i want to use different cards: Beofre i built my first pc, i had a prebuild pc in a very smal case. When i upgraded from a 760 o a 970 in that small case, a blower style card wouldn't have made any sense as i could not exhaust the hot air, so i got myself a gainward gtx 970 reference design. When i moved to a new case, i've put a liquid cooler with a kraken g10 on it to make it more silent. As i want to upgrade to sli now, i have no space for the radiator to liquid cool the second card, so i would like to use another 970 with a fan cooling solution, i thought about a 970 g1 gaming or a asus strix 970. wOuld one of these work with the gainward 970 in sli?
  12. Hi guys, I'm about to build a pc and i have some problems findeing the right psu. First of all, the specs of the pc i plan to build: MSI Z97 Plus SLI Intel i7 4770k with a Liqtech 240 2x Gainward GTX 970 with Corsair H55 Coolers and NZXT Kraken Adapters 16 GB Corsqair Vengeance RAM 1 system SSD 2 storage HDDs in Raid 0 I chose a Corsair AX760 Platinum psu, but i can't find anythign about the power usage of those water cooling loops and therefore am not sure if my psu is able to deliver enough power. Please don't start with saying how stupid it is to watercool gpus without doing a custom loop, people already told me this, but i want to build this machine exactly the way i listed it above.
  13. Man, I would love to win this nuc, they are really handy ;D
