among things i never expected to say:

 

a raspberry pi 3B+ compiles retropie and optional packages faster than a base intel NUC.

 

now.. if one of the pi ripoff companies made an ARM box with good driver support, that is powered off something better than USB, so it can reach the 10-20 watt range on it's ARM core, paired with a decent graphical solution, and a nice amount of RAM and I/O.. put that box on sale yesterday.

    So...a smartphone?  I mean, it wouldn't have a screen or a battery, and would be running PythonOS or maybe Linux, but that's basically the kind of hardware that you're asking for otherwise!  ?

    a smartphone is power constrained as well, and I/O constrained for that matter..

     

    give me an intel nuc with an ARM core under the hood.
