i just noticed something...

i have this cheapo pair of logitech speakers:

they're powered off of usb, plug into 3.5mm, they peak at about 0.6 watts drawn from USB, are pretty much the cheapest speakers you can get outside of chinese garbage, feel like quite a slice of the budget went into build quality...

and they sound better than just about any device i have with built in speakers..

HOW CAN INTEGRATED SPEAKERS BE THIS HARD?

got them up to 0.9 watts with bassotronics.. which is basicly a stress test for audio systems..

    They look kinda cute IMO.

Size. Laptops = smaller. Those have actual cones.

but TVs, displays with integrated speakers, etc..

in fact, my phone may have the best integrated speaker of all devices..

Nah. I worked in a TV shop. I've seen brands where the "speaker" was a bit of fake plastic, and a cheepo one was behind it. :D

Unless you've got one of those really really nice TVs with built in 5.1 and massive speakers in it? (IIRC the only one ever nice to listen to was a top of the range multiple $K/£K Sony I saw)

here's the thing: if these things can be shipped to my door for a grand total of 25 bucks, how much can it cost to integrate that same experience into a display or television.

    Space.

TVs are panels only now. So no space.

Cost. You paid $25 for a nicely made product, they skim pence off it? They made pence. TV companies can get greedy etc (see Apple XD). As said, I've seen "painted on" speaker grills. ?
