Uh, The "missing .5GB" isn't missing, it's there and it just runs at a slower chip because part of the GPU is missing a L2 cache chunk. not the ram itself. Replacing ram would do nothing. that is of course if you can even replace the ram on GPUs the packages are soldered directly onto the PCB and the traces and interconnects are much too small for human precision. That and i'm 99.9% sure you can't just BUY a .5GB Dram that will work with a 970 off of Ebay, lol.

My newest would be a 250GB 850evo for my boot drive. Once I upgrade my platform to intel (possibly 2011) I'll get a second and have a 500GB Raid0

Not to be that guy, but working computer retail, the gigabyte is the most common 970 I see coming back. I'd go for the evga personally.

nvm marvel controller is for the esata ports on the back panel... not for the 6 internal ports... I wouldn't be able to install the OS onto the raided drives from the marvel controller then after install move them to the sb950 would I? that seems like it wouldn't work but I'd be so happy. /s

Ok, what the hell. I have the drives plugged into 4&5 [marvel] and I have that controller set to RAID not ide or ahci but upon reboot I don't get the prompt to press ctr+m to enter marvels raid setup as per the manual

Would formating the drives through my old windows ssd help? so far they havn't been touched.

also, I'll try running the raid off of the marvel controller instead.

so if it's incomplete what can I do?

Is it possible there's a firmware issue with the drives? i heard something about the 840evos having this issue.
