Xerohumoris's Achievements

  1. Install windows, leave a spare partition/drive. Then install Linux. 99,9% of the distros will not remove windows and install a bootloader. That is all you need.
  2. Hardware support is hard to do in a VM. Mostly you only have a VGA+3D driver in your guest OS. If you want the full hardware support for the GPU (CPU is not a issue) you need to have a dedicated GPU for the guest OS and you need a GPU for the host. One can be the iGPU. On CPU basis the CPU hit is minimal as you can assign CPU-cores and dedicated memory that are directly accessible by the guest OS.
  3. I mist the most stable blending edge Q&A tested distro. openSUSE tumbleweed has new software within 24 hours and is quality controled before it ships out. I have used it for a couple of years now, never had any issues. And as a bonus you can have nVidia drivers upgraded in the same way all software is upgraded. No need to download by hand and compile/install manually.
  4. Ask Alec Steele to forge you one. It can even look good from Damascus. This would be some great content. http://alecsteeleblacksmith.com/about/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWizIdwZdmr43zfxlCktmNw
  5. My current SSD is over 5 years old. So a new one would help me keep my system a bit more up to date. And I do have a feeling mine will fail in the next year or 2.
  6. I like the headphones the most. I like the use of the wood on the ear cups. However I don't like the keyboard. How in his right mind uses a 104-key layout. 105-key is superior in all ways thinkable.
  7. For a Dutch person Taran his names where the BEST!! A small translation for all. 18+? No literal translation. Just what the mean. Taran VanHamburger: Taran of Hamburger Taran Van Droogkloot: Taran the bloody drag Taran van Eikel: Taran the Asshole Taran van Hemert: Doesn't have a real meaning. Van Hemert is just a normal surname here. And better then Naaktgeboren (no offense).
  8. Depends on the reason to restructure. I do really think this is the best for Sailfish OS. For the simple reason that the OS will be easier to license to other vendors/countries. Russia has show interest in making Sailfish the countries official mobile OS. Hardware is hard to make, can it be in the name? By spliiting this off the hardware part of Jolla can be very interested for other companies how are thinking of releasing new hardware, aka Nokia. They are splitting up on paper. But I think they will still be really good friends. Maybe even both part of the same cooperation. In that case it will just be a splitting of funds. A lot off companies do that to lover the taxes they have to pay. I know that in some countries tax-rates vary depending on if your making a product (phones) or providing a service (software). Who knows what the real reason is. I just hope they both will keep making a great product.
  9. It;s a mobile OS based on Mer (Meego like). But Jolla only sells in Europe and Asia for now (band issues). But they are launching a tablet this month that will be soled in the US and Canada. There tablet was funded by the biggest Indigogo campaign till this date.
  10. Jolla Ltd., the Finnish mobile company and developer of open mobile operating system Sailfish OS, today announced a change in its company structure and management as further action toward company’s strategy to focus on Sailfish OS licensing and development. The official press release. (PDF) Speculation. Are they doing this to give Nokia the chance to help with the production of new devices? They can start production again in januari of 2016. Both company's are Finish and Jolla is a startup that came from Nokia employees.
  11. For me it very mutch depands on the application your going to use the keyboard for. For my desktop it has to be a 105-key US-Int (iso with us layout) keyboard. For my tablet and media center a 60% is the way to go. To have them function at 100% in this application they have to be wireless. And the best is bluetooth. This way you can use them for both without any problems.
  12. That's why I use openSUSE. Within about two days a new driver is released nVidia NOT openSUSE makes a RPM for openSUSE. Installing the new driver is painless. Only thing you have to do is reinstall the driver every time the kernel is updated. But this has to be done with the normal driver too. But a RPM installation is just a couple off clicks...
  13. You can have multiple OS's on one system. I have Linux on all my machines. But I always have a small part of the harddrive where windows is installed just in case. On my PC windows has about 3GB to work with. On my laptop I installed the drive of my old windows laptop. SO there it has the full 250GB to use. Only on pointer I can give to you. Windows doesn't like other OS's... So first install Windows then the other OS. The other OS will in most cases detect Windows and adjust the bootloader accordingly. Windows will just remove the other bootloader. This can make it very hard to start the other OS.
  14. True, but mobile CPU's can't be overclocked that easily. This will even allow you to underclock the CPU to have it save power and lower heat output. But a desktop CPU is a option not a must. You can keep a mobile i7 CPU.
