  1. With all the material shortages it is now. I'd take a $100-$200 mark up from an actual store than buying from some sketchy site/scalper for $500-1000 mark up.
  2. Yeah I heard about that before. My usual go-tos are EVGA and Asus but the only none gigabyte cards they had were the 3080 tis, hopefully I won't need to deal with it here.
  3. After months of trying to get a GPU I finally caved and went to Microcenter to get a gaming laptop as my PC upgrade. I went over to their BYOPC section just to check how their queues work and they actually had a couple 3060Tis a single 3080 and a few 3080 Tis left at MSRP!! They were other people waiting to get a pick up slip so I just went for the lone 3080 before I missed it and had to wait another 8 months When I got to the front to pick it up it was the gigabyte rtx 3080 turbo v2 ($1050). I can't find ANY reviews or videos on this card so now I'm curious if I should have just went with one of the 3060 tis ($599)? I wasn't going to spend $1500+ for a 3080 ti So my question is does anyone have this card or have feedback? All the reviews I can find are just negatives complaining about markups/scalpers and not the actual performance/noise/heat Some extra info for those wondering; 1. It was the Microcenter in Houston. Unfortunately I gave my friends the heads-up to grab some but they were already sold out a hour later when the first got there 2. I still have my old 970 build so I'm planning a big upgrade/jump 3. Planning for 1440p gaming, video editing, and maybe 4k gaming (if there's some good BF sales) 4. I know I lucked out with the price because the cheapest online was $1500 for this model and I know the 3060 ti would have been a big jump for me but i wanted a big BIG jump 5. If there is some crazy heating or some other issue with this card I got 15 days to return, but blocked from buying a new card for 30 days at MC. 6. Still shopping for parts (waiting for BF) so haven't broke the seal yet. If I do keep it I'm sticking it in my current build until I get new parts
  4. back in 2014 it was an originalish idea and seemed cool. But, even if they didn't run away with everyone's money, not many people would buy it now because of better FREE alternatives like the ones you mentioned. ----- The idea itself (compared to usable alternatives out now) is stupid and I'm not surprised it failed. Coin managed to make it to market but it was a disaster - it either never worked or took longer to go through than normal cards the 1/10 times it worked. Then it shut down and pretty much told its backers "thanks for the money, your coin will die in under 2 years. But don't worry, we will shut down most services before then". With Coin at least people got someone in return for their money. Here, the f*ed up part is backers are probably never going to get anything back They can try to sue for refunds or something but probably won't get anything and will lose more in legal fees.
  5. I never said that? What are you, MSNBC, Fox, CNN!?!!? Stop spreading your fact news! /s I said...
  6. I forgot there was an Edmonton in Canada . How can I forget the land Bioware lives. You might not have to go to the bank tho. I use my fingerprints now to get into my bank and credit card accounts, maybe all we need is a phone with an "approved" sensor to do the job. I haven't stepped foot inside a bank in more than 5 years I'm not breaking that streak for a finger print! I mentioned this in another reply - I understand the security part but we need to improve the card readers and other parts of the system to streamline it. There are still stores that use old readers that are just slow, others where -because people are rough with them- the readers are not working, or some other issue that makes me wish I can just swipe again. Then of course the people that, despite having chipped cards for years, still stare at the machine for a couple minutes before asking for help lol
  7. I don't think so. Unless it becomes fail proof governments would still require a pilots license (or some other hard to get card). Cars have basic autopilot but we still need to know how to drive and planes have fancier autopilot but there still always has to be someone behind the stick in case. The only way I see it happening is if there is major infrastructure changes to go with it. I wouldn't be comfortable knowing random people are flying over my house. Also I see people daily tossing stuff out there cars, imagine from 30,000 ft in the air? You know what we need to prevent most ground accidents... WE NEED BIG NETS!
  8. OLD MAN??!?! I can't tell if your comment was sarcastic or not (since your from the UK) but that exactly how it works in the US lol. Debit and credit cards were always mailed to me and usually have no other info included but the contract stuff (interest rates, fees, etc.). I never had to sign anything either when I lived overseas but I always have to sign (CC) or put my pin in (DC) here. When chips were first introduced it was a hot mess - still is sometimes.
  9. well we got 10 chances before we're s.o.l
  10. I honestly never want to see the general public get their hands on flying cars. In the rare alternate future where flying cards are a thing I hope the license for it is as strict, if not stricter, than the requirements for being able to fly an actual plane. But owning one would probably be like boats are now - some people have them but most don't because of initial costs and high maintenance fees. I would be okay with hover cars that only go a few feet off the ground (like 3 ft max) - just to have that smooth ride. Besides the hover, they are just regular cars with the same road rules.
  11. hey, they aren't bad. They just have asstasstically shit prices. I high much better internet than most places (based on avgs) but I also have to pay more than most places for it. And comcast just keeps upping the price >_> And who your parents know. but back on topic What kind of competitive market has one competitor? I always thought such a thing was a monopoly. But what do I know, the FCC has the american peoples best interest in mind...
  12. let me keep my rose-colored glasses on please. like those places they still haven't replaced there old beat up readers. You put your card in and wait about 5-10 seconds between each prompt. When I go to this local store the line is always super long because people are using cards and it takes about a minute per person to pay. I only carry cash still for THAT store lol I understand the reasoning - I like my money not stolen to. But, they should at least improve the system. Chipped cards have been widespread in the US long enough that I shouldn't spend so much time paying. The walmarts by me all upgraded their registers and cc readers but it still takes wayyy to long. When I lived abroad I literally tapped the machine and *boom* receipt.
  13. No..no...NO! Didn't we learn from switching to chips? Most people are stupid! I don't want to wait at check out again while someone is fumbling with their fingerprint secure card at the register. NOT AGAIN! Plus this time the cashier can't take the card and show them how to do it because they need their fingerprint. And, besides the fact I don't think this card will be as thin as current cards, I bet people would still need to sign or something. I remember when chips were introduced and they talked about not needing to sign or put your pin in anymore...the chip takes 2x longer than the old fashion swiping. Security be damned! Then if the sensor gets dirty...more wasted time.
  14. Yeah. He did a q&a stream and the first ~10 minutes are giving sarcastic/rude answers to questions. So I randomly jump to different spots and he is either still being rude or complaining about stuff...an hour long stream
  15. I had to find you and this comment again after watching his recent live stream. Okay, you might be on to something Either I didn't notice it before or stress of moving offices and getting more businessy is getting to him lol
  16. While I agree with the people saying Nvidia getting sued was b.s and overkill I, as a broke college student at the time of purchase, submitted a claim for that $30 I got the confirmation receipt when I submitted the claim but nothing since. When the check comes I'm going to celebrate with some Taco Bell! YAY Diarrhea!
  17. Click bait that's not gonna happen? Probably. But if it's true how stupid is Nvidia to think "know what will fix sales? introducing new cards AGAIN this year!". Maybe because I'm just more aware of things now but I feel there is a new GPU iteration every other month now. X, XP, TI, TIT, XP Plus...
  18. Yeah, I like to be the first to try something out but it just keeps f*cken me over lol My brother (also on Fi with a 6p) doesn't update just out of laziness and he is having much fewer problems.
  19. I've been having minor annoyances for the past couple months but chalked it up to "it's getting old". Maybe I was wrong lol. I am having the battery issue where it powers down sometimes (one time it didn't even go into ps mode and just powered down at above 16%). Battery life in general has gone to shit - I remember going a day and a half easy but now I can't even go a full day. Its also randomly freezes and lags out of no where. I have insurance on it but don't see it as a big enough problem to send it in yet. I'm on Fi to and got the update to 7.1.2 on the 5th.
  20. tbf, Squarespace abandoned that slogan a couple years ago. So Corsair just jumped on a good currently unused saying. Damn good to, it was my favorite company slogan then they got rid of it for random one liners about making nice websites
  21. Ahh HD texture packs look okay but, on a game this old, it wouldn't help much. I checked my game and I do have a HD mod. It makes it look better but, since it already exists, Bioware would just be wasting their time and annoying fans if they try to charge for it *cough* Skyrim remaster *cough*. Your comment made me look up the community patch and, after going down that rabbit hole, at what happens to the characters in KOTOR. I forgot that TOR is part of the KOTOR universe and actually ties up some of the major questions of one and two. So now idk what they could do for KOTOR 3 if it was a thing. Unless it's a retelling.
  22. I know you already closed the topic but I wanted to add on :3. As probably both you did, I played KOTOR 1 and 2 probably 5 times each. The graphics (IMO) actually hold up well. All my previous play throughs were on the Xbox but I recently played it on PC (think I got it during the last steam sale). I was surprised how nice it looked. I honestly was afraid it would be a case of going back to a beloved game and having it ruin your fond memories. Then again...I might have downloaded a HD mod...shit there goes my argument lol I wouldn't want a remaster of this. It's good as it is. If anything I would want a complete remake from the ground up - not just a HD reskin. Maybe some added content and features.
  23. ME:A was made my the C-team bioware office. The main office (A-team) and Austin (B team) are both seasoned developers. I think this was that office's first major game - the rest of their work was support for the other offices. And, if the rumors are to be believed, EA was actually the one saying "hey guys, if you need more time to polish we are okay with it". I dipped my toes into TOR around the time of the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion and actually liked it a lot (and I normally hate MMOs). So I trust Austin if they make an RPG of it. sidenote: I mentioned earlier or in another thread Austin made the OG Kotor, I was mistaken. They worked on the MMO
  24. From the site: The stuff they showed off looks promising for a passion project. Hopefully they can get it completed and available for download before Disney pulls a Nintendo.
  25. I did say he has his "wow really man" moments lol
