  1. Am I watching too much south park? I just saw this sentence and immediatly thought of member berries... Anyway, on topic, for MS titles, the problem seems to be DRM and the fact that the games are not optimized for PC. Seriously, FH3 resource use is all over the place and makes no sense whatsoever. Other games are ports from dx11 to dx12 so the devs might be using ways of doing things that are not as effective in dx12 as they were in dx11. But your mileage may vary. Give it time and I just hope FH3 is released on Steam using DX11. Also, removing CPU overhead is something that I want to see first since that will be a boost to all systems and then they can play around with async and other graphical features. Also, I think dx12 was sold to us as being this silver bullet but the reality is that it will take time to live up to its potential. Heck, I remember when dx11 cane out and it hogged more resources than dx9... Now its the most stable api we have on PC (well, Vulkan on Doom works pretty well for #4K60).
  2. Well, I suppose it is kind of spam... But in real life had a bit of an argument over something stupid and I was wrong. So I thought it would be funny make a post stating that I lost an opportunity to stay silent. Which is yet another opportunity to not say a thing wasted. Just thought it was a funny idea that is all.
  3. Seriously, I have a 980 ti and a 1440p 144 hz monitor. I don't know what games you play but 6 GB of VRAM is not "getting by" and if anything, it is less of a problem in sli since memory bandwidth doubles. You'll be fine in sli. Thinking about the same. Getting another 980 ti and get the perf boost for cheap. And you will get more performance than a single 1080 especially in productivity.
  4. I have the same card. Those temps as normal with stock fan curve. Customize it and you can lower temps somewhat.
  5. Not to mention the council of ministers which can also propose laws and may vote on the enactment of any law. Or we could also bring in European treaties where big laws get decided and are negotiated between all governments from the EU and a single veto from one nation state can stop the whole process. This myth that the poor UK is underrepresented is bullshit. Its part of a slander propaganda conducted for years by the UK government. Something wrong happens? Those damn EU bureaucrats! The weather is rubbish? Blame the EU. You stub your toe on the bathtub? EU!!! This has been the narrative sold to the UK inhabitants for years on end and now, dodgy Dave makes a stupid promise to get reelected, and here we are. I am stuck in the UK for another year but afterwards, time for a change of airs I believe.
  6. Get the one you like the most. Better yet, pick an evga superclocked or the standard PCB Asus and save yourself some money. They will be virtually the same and the odd 50 bucks you save can go to the next card you buy.
  7. Well, it depends... If they are pirating a AAA title like battlefield 1, I don't care. If they are pirating something from a small studio or independent, I would tell them to man up and buy the game. Especially on a steam sale. I used to pirate games to try them out and even play them or, when I couldn't be bothered to look for the install disk. But, if it was a game I played a lot, I would eventually buy it. The game I had pirated for the longest time was Empire Total War where I still had the pirate version over a year after having bought the original it was just a fuss to change everything.. Heavily moded and so forth. Basically installed the non pirated version once I moved computers...
  8. Just to let everyone know, I lost an opportunity to be quiet. If anyone found it, please keep it as I am sure I have more to lose. Thank you.
  9. Sounds like you should go to nvidia and help them design their GPUs then. I agree that Pascal is horrendously overpriced but it is not a refresh from a refresh from a refresh. Which leads me to my next unpopular opinion. GPUs are released in too fast a cycle. I honestly believe we would be better served by a slower release cycle instead of pressuring nvidia and d to release year after year. And, the gtx 970 was probably one of the best GPUs ever made. Its price to performance ratio still is incredible and it made high end gaming affordable.
  10. Yeah m.2 ssd is the way forward. Either sata or pcie. Regarding performance difference, I used to use an Intel 1.2 TB PCIe SSD for work to deal with data handling and it was great. But it is not a big difference in day to day applications (like booting, doing normal stuff, etc) compared to a data SSD. And the cost is way higher. Hence for my home PC, I have an m.2 and a 2.5 inch SSD (used to have only the 2.5 inch but the m.2 was cheap and now I have a 250 GB SSD for games :D) and they are more than enough. The jump from a HDD to an SSD is huge. The jump from an SSD to a PCIe SSD is nowhere near as large.
  11. Exactly. I use an ssd for my system boot and then have a 3TB hdd for my stuff. Even at 2x the cost I would still go for a HDD to store stuff. There is no noticeable difference between both for what I need it to do. Price parity, it would be a different topic but for the foreseeable future, HDDs make sense for bulk storage.
  12. And Chopin can"t hold a candle to my homeboy OOOG Johann Sebastian Bach! 6 voices in an organ motherfucker! Bach music is so good that all music since his is a derivative.
  13. Not really worth it upgrading your CPU. After the GPU, some fast ram could reduce CPU bottlenecks which I doubt you will have. For GPU, go for the single most powerful card you can afford. The Titan xp will serve you well but next gen will bring similar performance or better at a lower price point. 1080 is plenty. You won't run Andromeda at 165 fps but I am positive that you will run it above 60 fps...
  14. Its not a trick. Its the formula... You are not converting coordinates you are calculating the divergent in spherical coordinates.
  15. They didn't add terms. It has to do with spherical coordinates divergence. The formula is 1/r2 d/Dr (r2dfr) + 1/r sin(teta) d/dteta (sin(teta) fteta) + 1/r sin(teta) dfphi/dphi When you integrate the divergent you have to integrate over the three coordinates and what you "added" to the equation was r2sin(teta) (the terms inside the brackets on r and teta coordinates. That is just it. Now I don't remember the deduction but that is the divergence formulae you need to know.
  16. Yeah, the solution is not clear on that. They are using something called variable replacement where they call da the area integral that you have to calculate on each of the surfaces. Its just that. It makes the integral easier to solve. It is not very useful here but as a matter of principle you should get used to using it. Also, teta is not constant. Edit: well, this is not really variable replacement. Its called da because it is an area element. I left previous paragraph in because message is the same. Use variable replacement as a principle. The solution otherwise is pretty self explanatory.
  17. Yeah. Writing on my phone sucks... So basically, with lower end gear, like a 390 or a 970, you cannot get locked 60fps on ultra with msaa off. However, you can get locked 30 fps with msaa x8. To get 60 fps you need to go to enthusiast gear and with a titan xp you can get 4k 60 fps ultra. It seems to me that there is a problem with the game engine itself because 30 fps with msaa x8 should take more resources than 60 fps with msaa off. That problem seems to be circumvented if you throw ludicrous amounts of cuda cores and vram at it. This seems to indicate that the game does not scale well to high frequencies. Where it requires a lot more hardware than it should. Based on the info posted by other users it could be that the port is not optimized for PC very well making poor use of CPU and GPU. For reference, Xbone basically runs this game on high with 4x msaa at 30fps so my post was to say that you can run it.on Xbox settings with a 960 upwards. Maybe even a 950... The problem is that once you try higher framerates, you don't want to go back to 30 fps. And let's be honest, the game shouldn't be this demanding. The textures and reflections are very good but the models themselves are not great (based on Forza Apex which I play) and the game feels cartoonish. Project Cars and Assetto Corsa look and feel better to me.
  18. Just a small correction, it is quite easy to run the game at 1080p 30fps with anything from a 960 upwards. Going from 30 to 60 fps however is nigh impossible. DF ran the game at 1080p ultra with 8x msaa at 30fps on a 970 and couldn't get 60 fps with msaa off. This seems to be an engine limitation and not a bottleneck since if you throw an i7 and a Titan XP you can play 4k 60 at ultra settings. So, bad port a la arkham knight. I have not bought this game because I feared these issues. Edit: Also I am sure ms encryption and way of doing things doesnt help.
  19. Hahem... 1) I think "gamer" marketing sucks. I own a K70 rgb and although it is an amazing piece of kit, I have backlight on gaming keys only. Also, why does it have to be black? 2) unless you are into heavy over clocking (and I mean competition level), custom pcb's are a rip off. Save your money and upgrade more often. There's a golden piece of advice. 3) I hate how high end GPU coolers feel like plastic toys. And why do motherboards need to be coloured like a circus? Seriously, I have an MSI gaming 7 because it was an amazing deal that came with an aio water cooler. I regret it. Should've bought an Asus white and black mono and be done with it. 4) I really dislike this new thing where people talk like a 960 or even 970 are not good 1080p cards. 5) I like windows 10. 6) gaming on a laptop is fine. It always has been and always will be. Just because you can't run a game at a million fps with super ultra high end mega settings it doesn't mean its not fine (check battleblock trailer). 7) Ultra graphics are over rated big time. 8) Witcher 3 has a nice story but its not a very good game. 9) People brought no man's sky disappointment on themselves. Don't preorder games. 10) ram speed matters... All speed matters
  20. There are teo things imho. First, the fact that nvidia calls it a 1060 as mentioned before. That was bad marjeting imho because they are not the same card. Its like calling the titan x and the 980ti the same card. Second, the price. If the 3gb version is only 50 bucks cheaper, I would go for the 6 GB one. If it is like 80 or 100 I would go for the 3GB version. And it is fine for 1080p. Heck, a 970 is fine for 1080p. Regarding the titles you mentioned, Forza has engine optimization problems. You can get locked 30 fps ultra with 8x msaa easily. You try to go 60 fps and even without msaa it is high impossible on a 970 or 1060. The game just hits a bottleneck where the engine doesn't scale properly. Mirror's edge might be a problem because its a memory hog other than that, the 3GB version will serve you just fine. I don't get this wave of "oh a 970 is not good for 1080p" nonsense going around. Seriously...
  21. Well, it depends really. If all you want is eye candy, a faster gpu is what you need. If you want a better gaming experience I thing a dedicated monitor with desk and chair is the way to go (you probably have an empty table around the house that can be used). Honesty I prefer gaming on a monitor. I bought my mom a 1080p tv for her house and when I go there I connect my laptop to it. Its fine in games like witcher 3 but shooters like MWO or Squad, the small laptop screen gives me a smoother experience. The game just feels more crisp. Of course this is my opinion and your mileage may vary. I would buy an entry level 1080p monitor and try it. Even second hand. See a brand you like and try it out. They will be cheap enough not to affect your budget and if you like the difference you can go for a more serious gaming monitor. Otherwise, spurge in a 1080 and sell your monitor for the same price.
  22. Well, I must say that on lower end hardware, 30 fps with some decent motion blurr makes the game playable if its not a game where controller input is a major factor. Games like Witcher III are good enough at 30 fps on a low end rig (like an i3+750ti combo). In racing sims, shooters and some fighting games, 30 fps is not good enough because it affects gameplay. Of course, I aim for 80, 90 fps personally because it provides the best experience for me though sometimes, I prefer to increase resolution to 4K and get 60 fps due to the image looking a bit sharper. In MWO for example, rendering at 4K and then downscaling to 1440p is the best AA the game has. FXAA and postAA look like a terrible blurry mess and MSAA just eats all your machine's resources because reasons... And you can still see jagged edges. Since I can get 72 fps average, I just play it at 4k. So it depends on what you are looking for really...
  23. For me, freedom of speech is or isn't. For example, in the states, black people don't like to be called niggers (which in Europe is completely irrelevant BTW) yet they call themselves that all the time. That is hypocrisy pure and simple. They also talk about BLM and yet use gold chains and jewellery with conflict diamonds which affects mostly black Africans by fueling some of the most grueling conflicts around. And then they say they worry. Hypocrites. Other examples can be found on the other side too. All those alt righters that go for the data on black people shot by cops and can show that there is no indication of mass police bigotry yet deny data when it suits them like in climate change or Swedish rapes? Hypocrites! However, I will say that this PC culture created this problem because you cannot ban words or prevent groups from expressing themselves no matter how much they offend you. These fascists (Anita Sarkesean and her ilk) are having way too much representation and air time. I honestly want them to fuck off and crawl back under the rock they came from. Because if they keep going we risk having the other fascists (alt righters and old school fascists) come into power again with a speech about freedom and justice where in reality is back to invading Poland again (figuratively speaking). I see actual danger here and it starts when free speech is thrown under a bus the moment someone is offended. Lines need to be drawn but calling someone a faggot or a bitch is not it. If I accused Linus of being a "self serving corrupt manager who is lining his pockets at the expense of his workers", the google bot would let this slide with a 1 out of 100 yet this is much more serious than telling someone to fuck off or calling them a bitch. However, in the middle of all this noise, the seriousness of these sentences have been reversed. One is a personal attack against his integrity and his profession putting his livelihood into question, the other is just random assholery. And I am tired, and I mean really, REALLY tired of seeing SJWs use the first to attack people they disagree with in order to complain about someone being an asshole. Look at Thunderf00t, they sent letters to his boss calling him a Nazi... Saying he is an Holocaust apologist and that he commands an army of hatred... WTF? " oh but he offended me!" So what? Just because you are offended doesn't mean you are right! I think 4chan's answer to this google bot problem is ingineous and that there is a difference between being racist and saying racist things. However, this will enable many actual racists to do their thing free of consequences and can empower them which can lead to them actually getting into a position of power. Then what? But at tge same time, wtf is the choice? Bend over and take it? Let them get away with it? They corner people into a corner, label them racists, biggots and nazis for asking questions and expressing ideas that " trigger" certain groups of people, which results in this being the only way they will get heard and get the point across that words are not a problem actions are. If you get offended by someone contesting your ideas then become leader of North Korea and gtfo! And it starts in the states but it is reaching the UK and Europe. Then what? We be f'd in the a that's what. For me its simple: Freedom of speech is.
  24. 380/x, 960, 950, rx 460/70/80 or even a 1060... So many options. If you get a more powerfull card and get bottlenecked, reduce cpu intensive options and add graphical goodies. Or try to oc the shit out of the CPU... Go balls to the wall crazy. You cannot go wrong. Worst thing it can happen? You under utilize you GPU which means it will run cooler and quieter... Oh dear... How can you live with that?
  25. According to the footage we've seen, the games look good. It is not native 4k though. It is 1080p with a 4k buffer. That's what I want to see on the PC too.
