  1. i 'converted' the weird form factor dell optiplex motherboards into a normal mATX case. i had to angle grid the rear slots to fit the upside down graphics card and I.O ports. along with this i had to angle grind some of the hard drive cage away and make new stand off out of metal. when i bolted the board down i placed a thin piece of card inbetween to stop it shorting out onto the sheet metal i replaced the motherboard tray with. i took the power connectors and stuff like that off the dell optiplex case as it doesnt have the normal front panel headers. i soldered a switch in place of the power button. also i had to cable tie the heatsink and heatsink fan down to the board. as it used mobo standoffs to secure. once i booted it up i kept getting a message about a rear fan being missing. (i couldent change it in the bios setting) so by this point i just couldent be assed and ended up soldering the contacts together to short the fan header out. its served me well for about 4-5months. lets just say it was the most powerful dell optiplex ive been on before. then i couldent boot it up. no bios menu. and it turned out the solder id put on the fan header had melted damaging the mobo and frying the bios chip. i knew this would happen anyway but by this time i had just finished building my new pc. so guess it was perfect timing. i still have reminence of the ddr2 ram and core 2 duo cpu that powered the BEAST but unfortunatly no photos :'(
  2. cases that have windows or are meant to look awesome but people let them get really really dirty. and cable managements. it really isnt that hard!
  3. just get a cheap card of amazon and try it. if not then get a new system. most games utilize 4 cores and 8gb ram now. so athlons are dieing a death! sounds like a nice little system thought man
  4. it might make a very slight difference. but nothing noticeable. you could uninstall the card and then put in that space pci slot below it. it should work exactly the same in there? im not to sure how to do it really. but im pretty sure you have to uninstall it then move it to the other slot and reinstall it. you could try just moving it down it might recognise it and realocate itself. (backup your files first)
  5. i found that getting a case where the air flow is directed 1 way. front to back. front to top. ect and the the norm low rpm fans and vibration proof stuff. consider water cooling. cuz gpu, and cpu fans are SOOOOOO LOUD
  6. although it is a complete waste of money. its just nice to experience it and learn about it. like with my watercooling i have no use for it. i dont overclock. im not a hardcore gamer. i dont do rendering. i was just interested. and although my water cooler cost alot less. still the same principle
  7. i dont think its your processor. although getting a slightly better heatsink might be better. not to overclock. just for better running temps. might help cool the ambient case temp down and in turn your graphics card. your ram and storage are probably bottle necking your system. so think about getting a ssd or 16gb of ram. or you could just try a newer graphics card like a r9 280 which will have better software. thats what i found with my system andway (its very similar to yours)
  8. thanks man. windowed kinda works. but create errors for some games in terms of actually gameplay
  9. intel core 2 duo. like some old mobo out a dell optiplex, 60gb hard drive. amd 1500x series graphics card 4gb ddr2 ram. a blue led case i had to like angle grind to get the inverted mobo to fit. and a 500w cheap powersupply. it was baller
  10. thanks guys. its a bummer. but i guess i can live with it
  11. i just upgraded to 2 screens. and they both run fine. overlay fine but when i try to play league of legends, i also run spotify... forums ect. on the other screen. but i cant move my mouse over to the other screen once im in game. when im in the load screen i can move my mouse over to the other display. but whenever i interact with something the game minimises. i would like to be able to interact with the other screen when im playing the game to search stuff. change songs ect ect..... any ideas guys?
  12. zalaman z3 plus, its pretty cool aswell. thats what i have
  13. i found you guys way back with NCIX. where i learned all i currently know about computers. only a year ago did i find your linustechtips group. i wouldent have had it any other way. thanks from me for all the great vids, help, and advice
