  1. They only throttle upload speeds, its bad for streaming though.
  2. This is over 90% of the UK before the end of the year, and it should be finished over the whole country by July.
  3. Wow. That's a bit better, and considering the much larger area that Time Warner covers Virgin should have been able to do this before.
  4. Just threaten you'll leave, they tend to be a bit more co-operative when you do and sometimes you can get free stuff.
  5. Virgin officially announced a few days ago that everyone on it's network would be getting their speed boosted for free, and their new top package is 200mbps down and 12 up (which is the same as before on the upload side, and complimentary throttling included ). They're calling their top 'ultrafast' packages 'Vivid' and their lower packages 'SuperFibre'. This now means that their new lowest package is 70mbps down and 6mbps up. These changes have not been made official on their site, however many customers have received emails and letters about it. We were on the 100mb/s plan until we had a little 'chat' over the phone and they agreed to upgrade us to the 200mb plan for free as part of this new offering, however normal 100mb/s customers will be upgraded to 152mb/s. I like this move, I doubt it would be something that Comcast would want to do. Source: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2015/09/29/virgin-media-vivid-200mbps/1
  6. Facebook is adding a new way to interact with posts, on top of the already existing like button they're adding several emoticons that you can use instead of it. I kind of like this, makes it a bit more interesting what do you think? 7. I would look at the 5820k and the 5930k if you want a few more PCI lanes and a slightly faster core clock, and for Xeons to match the same price the only benefit really is ECC support and low power usage.

  9. You can get 144hz Freesync on 1440p http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS
  10. Are you looking for something with freesync so there isn't any screen tearing and will you be doing any kind of colour work or video editing etc or do you just want the best performance for gaming i.e. a TN panel 144mhz monitor? EDIT: If so this monitor looks good http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS
  11. HyperX Cloud II or are you looking for something more expensive?
  12. A Samsung RC710 laptop with some like 16 CUDA core GPU, 6gb DDR3 RAM and a dual core i5. I had it for 5 years until I upgraded to my current machine which is currently a completely random PC, consisting of a HP workstation mixed with a 780TI.
  13. 500gb SSD would be miles better, and have you looked at any 1TB SSD's like this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00P738MUU? It's £259.99 at this time.
  14. I completely agree with this, if you wanna bitch about why you think Linus does paid reviews (which he doesn't) then go away. Instead of trying to attack someone that has a company and a family, go do something else. Also why isn't 'nunya bus' banned yet @LinusTech?
  15. They're slowly releasing keys, I would assume so their download servers are less congested.

  17. It needs to be around £700, and the H97 board is more expensive and he wants to stick with NVIDIA for Shadowplay.
  18. The only other H motherboards that I can find compatible are around £5 more so there isn't much point of changing it.
  19. He will be using one monitor at >1080p. I plan on putting Windows 10 on this system. How do you think it is? (Note: He already has peripherals)
  20. I'm thinking of deploying two dedicated servers for Boinc on the LTT team, however I need some advice on what specs I should be looking at i.e. how much ram and CPU cores as I am fairly new to his. Thanks
  21. So about a week ago I received the DXSeat P series (Model number P33/XB) in the post, delivered by DPD without any shipping damage. It was actually suprisingly easy to assemble, there were no missing parts and the instructions were fairly straightforward. It took around 15 minutes. So I assembled it, and with the custom DXSeatiD cushion which l got my Arctic logo embroided on which looks *awesome*. Here are some pictures:
