Winther got a reaction from Magnusenl in Project Akhilleus - Rebuilding A Corsair 600t - Custom Hard-pipe Loop
    Hey guys!

This is my first buildlog, so tips and pointers are welcome! For example, would you like the original pic size? :)

Ok.. I built this PC late last summer and had big plans for it, but after about a month of building and waiting on parts that showed up broken I just wanted to have a desktop again, and then I just let it be for a while, but now Im really going to take my revenge!
I'm not going to have anyone do anything for me on this, I dont want to have something CNC milled, I want to do avything myself with the tools that I can find, I think thats the most fun, eventhough I really dont know much about tools.. :)
I will just go over a few of the things I hope will set this build apart from all the other watercooled 600T's out there:
    It will have:
Asus Rampage IV Extreme and an 3930k.
A total of 540mm rad space (a 360 in the top and a 240 Monsta in the front, with puch/pull)
Hard piping - chrome plated copper.
    Bitspower Multi Link Adapter, fittings.
The pump(s) and cylinder res is not decided yet. But will have atleast one D5.
    Home-made acrylic side window.
PSU cover and a cover for the top around the fans.
A mat black glass front. (not completly settled on the material, but et mat black fore sure)
A baycover with a surprise that I REALLY REALLY hope will work out..!

    Complete Specs:
    Asus Rampage IV Extreme
    Intel Core i7, 3930K
eVGA GTX670 FTW 4GB (hopefully two in SLI)
    Corsair Dominator Platinum, 4x4GB, 2133mhz
    Corsair Force 3, 128gb (OS)
    Samsung 840, 240gb (Games)
    Corsair AX750
    Corsair 600T

Now for the disassembly of the old system. I was surprised about the amount of work and time it takes to take apart a watercooled system and flushing the components..!

Here it is before I started..

    Getting ready

Drain hole, gotta love Alphacool's NexXxos rads.. :P

    Starting the drain.

    Starting to take it apart.

Then I went inside and cleaned it all out and its drying..

And then onwards to the side panel:

Preparing to draw the cutting line.

    Cutting.

And the result, I will probably make a few changes and sand it down a little more to fit perfectly, hence the protective plastic is still on.

And a few bonus pics. I have to live with only using an ultrabook for a few days, untill my next project arrives. My home server, which is going, temporarily into my old Define R2. At some point it will be going in an old, soon to be modded, American ammobox from 1942 :D

    HDD's

    UPDATE: (04/27-13)

Some new photos of todays work. Making a panel for the top, it still needs a hole for the fans ofcourse and Im probably going to put some matt black film on it. :)

    UPDATE: (04/28-13)

Got some more work done today. This is pretty interresting in my opinion, I really have no idea if this is going to work or not. But its a planet, made out of three layers of acrylic, which, if it works, will have liquid flowing inside it. It might not work out, but the plan is to use the same idea on the bay cover. :)
This little one will be mounted to the back of the case, where the back fan would be..
The one in the pictures turned out to be too small, just not enough room for screws and o-ring, so I ended up scrapping that and making another one, a little bigger this time..

I dont really have a lot of good photos for this, but I just though it might give someone else some ideas.

Keep in mind that this probably good render your fans unusable.

I bought some noctua fans last summer becuase I wanted the best performance without the sound, I didnt really mind the colors, but later I didnt like that they where so easy to see through the top of the 600T. So i decided i wanted to dye them. I just didnt want to take them apart because they are sealed so dust cant efter the motor. So I decided to try and just dye them without takaing them apart, and here are the results.
I ofcourse let them dry before using them. Packed them in a towel and put them on the radiator for 48 hours.

I used black Rit powder dye, one bag of it in total. :)

I will help you, but part of what makes watercooling so fun for me, is doing ALL the research required for something like a watercooled PC..! :)

Anyways I will try and answer some of your questions with what I have gathered around the net when researching this topic.

Im guessing your budget is pretty much unlimited compared to what most other guys are used to.. :P

I dont think there are any block for that card, since its really niche and not a refference card (I think) but you could ask EK if this one fits:
    http://www.ekwb.com/shop/blocks/vga-blocks/ati-radeon-full-cover-blocks/radeon-hd-7xx0-series/ek-fc7990-acetal-nickel-incl-backplate.html

waterblock for the CPU, Swiftech Apogee HD, XSPC Raystorm, EK Supremacy.. There are soo many, and most from the bigger companies are good :) But Apogee is probably one of the best performing I think :)

Monsoon has just released (or soon releases) some of the best looking bay res' I have seen! Here is an overview of it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfBg5FKrsDU

    Mayhems for liquid..

Fittings really depends on what look you want, but Bitspower are good quality and they are widely used! Monsoon also has some fittings, I have the black ones and they look good and they are relativly easy to work with (bare in mind I personally dont have anything to compare with) just remember to get fittings and tubing that match in size!

If you really want to use that much money on a system, then I would say what hiyaahi posted is good. however I would probably say 3 Titans is overkill, you will get better performance, but I think it will be too little to warrent the extra price, and you can always throw in another one if you want.

    So what I suggest:
    asus rampage IV extreme
Intel Core i7 3930K  (right now the 3770k outperforms the 3930 sometimes, but I think that will change during the next couple of years)
2 x GTX Titan (or wait for the Titan Ultra..)
    Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x4GB 1866mhz
Crucial M500 (get the size you want.. they go all the way up to 960gb..)
1000w + powersupply.. I suggest something either gold or platinum rated..
And then the cooler the want.. or a custom loop if you want, though that will add quite a bit to the cost.. :)

I would probably agree that the 660Ti is best value for money atm..
but the 7950 offers quite some better performance for the same money from what I can tell.. :) I would deff go with that.. OR wait for the next gen GPUs. honestly I would argue that its kinda pointless to upgrade now that there is only a few month until the next gen..
