Sorry doublepost

This is a great portable console replacement/htpc so yeah I'd much rather put this next to my TV than a desktop.

Overclocker Takes Intel Core i7-6700K to 5.2GHz
Trafford Devil replied to Codymm03's topic in Tech News
This source really isn't credible. I think 2 months ago HKEPC posted screenshots of the i7 5775c hitting 5GHz on air. All the latest reviews of the 5775c suggest the limit of overclocking is at 4.2 - 4.3 GHz. -
I wonder what the whole point of even splitting up the brand was. What was wrong with just Corsair? We all bought Corsair products mainly as gaming products anyways. Are they trying to take the ordinary Corsair brand in a different direction? Also where are the Corsair Gaming cases then? I used to have the same Corsair branded case, keyboard, mouse and mousepad but now I can't match the rest with the case which really triggers my OCD in a bad way.

Do you think Vessel marks the (start of) the downfall of LTT
Trafford Devil replied to asim1999's topic in Off Topic
Linus has got to pay for his employees and feed his family so he was perfectly right to seek alternative revenue streams. But I just don't see myself paying for Vessel. There are no channels outside of LTT that interest me on there and I find there are lots of technical glitches with the videos when I watch on slow connections. If there was an option however to only pay for LTT then I would. -
Broadwell i7 5775C Gaming Performance on par with Haswell
Trafford Devil replied to MageTank's topic in Tech News
I can't wait until Linus & Luke review this, hopefully by then the OEMs will have released proper BIOSes so that these issues that Maximum PC encountered don't happen. I'd really like to see how good it will overclock, with the iGPU disabled and that 128 MB of eDRAM dedicated entirely to the CPU as a L4 cache. From what I've read from other reviews the average ceiling seems to be 4.2 GHz. -
It's actually far better looking than their previous owl eyes Strix cards, now those were hideous.

Intel: ‘Skylake’ to consume 60% less energy than ‘Broadwell’

I wonder if the unlocked desktop Broadwell chips are going to be sold at retailers. -
Samsung Keeps Logo Off Galaxy S6 Sold in Japan
Trafford Devil replied to snowComet's topic in Tech News
Why is preferring to buy products from manufacturers from your own country racist? If there are 2 equal products one foreign one domestic then I would definitely prefer to spend my money on the domestic product. Also it goes both ways I've been to South Korea and I didn't see people carrying around Japanese phones or Chinese phones, although like everywhere there were plenty of iPhone users.- 11 replies

http://www.techpowerup.com/mobile/211822/asus-announces-that-all-its-z97-and-x99-motherboards-support-nvme.html NVMe support for all Asus Z97 and X99 motherboards is official. http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Storage/PCIe-SSD-Roundup-Samsung-SM951-NVMe-vs-AHCI-XP941-SSD-750-and-More PCPer has got their hands on one and have done benchmark comparisons. For a little M.2 drive it gives the 750s a run for their money, although the heat issues are a concern. I guess Tek Syndicate's Logan was right about adding a heatsink onto these.
-
The SM951 was originally supposed to be an NVMe drive though. I don't remember why but it was changed to AHCI right before it came out.
-
Are you guys checking from the motherboard support pages? Also I wonder if I should wait a bit longer before pulling the trigger on these. According to Anandtech the maximum speed for PCIe 3.0 x4 is 3.2GB/s, this is 2150MB/s. So there's still room for improvement and I'm kind of hoping Samsung will release a consumer 850 Pro version of this (with an all black PCB!). While RamCity does offer a warranty it'll be a real PITAS to ship back to Australia if anything is wrong.
-
Finally Samsung's releasing what they originally announced an NVMe SM951 M.2 SSD. As this is an OEM part this will probably only be available through RamCity in Australia though. Motherboard support could also be an issue, I've got a Maximus VII Impact with a PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot but I'm not sure if it supports NVMe. Will have to wait to see if ASUS releases a BIOS update. I really want to get this though, been waiting for NVMe SSD's to come out ever since I read the Anandtech article about it, that low latency paired with my Maximus VII Impact's excellent low DPC latency would make for an excellent Boot/OS drive. http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20150414006947/en/Samsung-Electronics-Producing-Industry%E2%80%99s-M.2-NVMe-PCIe#.VS4hyl2UdI0 http://betanews.com/2015/04/14/samsung-starts-production-on-sm951-worlds-first-m-2-nvme-pcie-ssd/
