  1. Okay, thanks It did seem weird to me because comparing it to my Ultra II (by sandisk) it didn't seem that much of a difference, but with the new EVO it seemed really odd... Forgot about caching, and it indeed sorts this out, many thanks!
  2. Hi, I recently bought a new Samsung 850 Evo 1TB drive and added my computer. I initialized the samsung magician and optimized and verified it is indeed genuine. Then for the kicks I started a benchmark (both crystal disk and the samsung's one) and found out a "small" (well actually HUGE) difference between the drives (The left is the Pro one and the right is the EVO one) Is this normal? or am I missing something with my setup? (both connected to SATA 3 connectors ) Many thanks in advance!
  3. To whom it may concern... In my specific case the sound card (asus xonar dx) is apparently not stable in the electricity department, and when both my speaker, headphones and microphone are connected it short circuits the MB and causes it to reboot instead of shutdown... I now use a USB mic and everything works fine!
  4. I agree with you regarding both the XPS and the Samsung, I really like my old laptop, only reason I want to replace it is that it is 4 years old, the battery is much worst than the start and of course it is much slower (even after re-formatting and stuff)
  5. I know, it seems amazing, only problem I have no usb-c peripherals ATM, I guess I will have soon, but for the moment I would like at least a single USB type A port
  6. Hi, I live outside the states in a country that laptops are extremely pricey for what you get. I start university in a short while and was wondering what ultrabook do you recommend? Now i've researched a bit, I really like the blade stealth (only because it is so damn sexy) however I seen the problems with the charger and battery life, so probably not... I also had my eye on the XPS13, only because the what seems to be stellar battery life while maintaining a slim design (and that amazing "infinity" display). Most of my use will be windows based (and no, I won't install office for mac or office on linux, and I use office since I love their equations system, which for me anyway is far more superior than the latex or lyx systems) so I need a windows based. Furthermore! I hate mac computers... The only one I would consider is a mac pro, but for the wrong reasons (it is simply an amazing built computer) but, it is a bit pricey if I want it with reasonable specs. oh and I won't buy a mac air, only since it is slower (and thicker) than my old new series 9 samsung which is 4 years old ATM.. (BTW the hate is also from using the mac computers, either mac airs or pros where I work, I don't really like the OS, and yes I know I can install windows, it is an option, but I don't like the air, putting even aside that it hasn't been refreshed in ages) Also, I have a x240 (from work, won't use it at school, and it has Gentu, so can't even install office there) and I don't really like the industrial design... I don't need to play games on it whatsoever (I think my 1080 will suffice on my desktop for that need), so the things I do need and want is basically Price range: 1500~$ Screen: around the 13" Size: as small as possible considering the screen size and as light as possible (ultrabook) Battery: the more the merrier, I don't know yet if there are charging ports at classes (or power outlets) Keyboard: Preferably a comfortable one, I get used quickly to new keyboards, but at the time when I bought my old Samsung, the final reason to take that over the equivalent *insert computer brand here* laptop was the keyboard felt better availability: US next month (Have a quick trip and plan to bring the laptop with me on the way back) So far the one that "made the cut" for me anyway is the XPS13 with 256GB SSD and an 1080p screen (unless a qhd is possible without hurting too much of the battery life and not jacking the price up too much), any other suggestions? p.s. Sorry for the long intro to this thread
  7. My current rig has a Mionix Naos 7000 with a Daskeyboard 4 Ultimate, some mousepad by steel series and a Sennheiser HD598, however won't be bad to upgrade my old rig, which has a generic white microsoft mouse, a logitech wave keyboad (that is roughly 10 years old) and a skullcandy mesh 2 headphones I got somewhere
  8. Well my second rigs runs of a GTX210 (temporarily, it's old HD5850 died recently) and it would be a real nice upgrade to have a card that runs more than just solitare on medium settings on my second rig (well my first rig runs a GTX1080, maybe I will run them in multi gpu once DX12 enters )
  9. Actually in my case, I have a headphone amp and speakers (self amped) connected to my sound card, I noticed that if I don't switch between them (the one I turned on is the only one the entire time the PC is on) it sometimes does not occur.. And moving my RAM might be a bit tricky, they are hidden underneath my CPU cooler
  10. Since I do want to use DX12 when it is more available... It would be a problem for me to downgrade to win 7... Hope someone might have a better solution for my case
  11. Hi, For quite some time now, on certain occasion when I hit the power off on Windows (10) it says it is powering off, however after turning off, several seconds later, my PC then starts again, I did replace my graphics cards recently, however it happened before that (It actually started happening after assembling the computer even before adding the sound card and other stuff added later on). I checked my BIOS it seems that all the relevant switches (concerning power supply reboot) are powered off, and I tested to see what device is able to reboot or power on my computer and canceled their permission for that in the device manager. Many thanks!
  12. Seems like an awesome projector, I mean that image quality was not that bad at all considering the size of the screen they reached to in the video! wouldn't mind to upgrade my Lan Party rig to use one of those instead of my actual monitor
  13. Rig Name: The IronBeagle cpu: i7-4790k @ 4ghz (stock :P) gpu: GTX970 (stock) RAM: 2X8GB DDR3 @ 1600MHZ score: VR Ready
  14. Tried, hope it helps odd thing is that my keyboard I have a hard time to believe is sending any commands after power off (and it started before I got this particular keyboard) perhaps the mouse somehow hijacks just before power off? (it is rather sensitive ) Or maybe some sort of packet reaches my NIC just before it turns off anyway, thanks! will let know if it doesn't help otherwise many thanks!
