I have tried what @Imakuni suggested, and it works! Now running 4.2GHz, thanks a lot! -

Windows doesn't use overclock
nickjedl replied to nickjedl's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Well it simply never hits the overclock. Nothing above 3.9GHz. Never That could be the issue, but I have heard of people overclocking the i7-2600. It's even been suggested to me personally. Nono not turbo boost, using the multiplier and base clock. Like how everyone does. Also doesn't change anything I think, I will give it another try in a few minutes. -

Hellow hellow. I have been overclocking my CPU, which is working according to my BIOS, however, Windows will simply not use it. My specs: - i7-2600 (non k) - ASROCK z77 Extreme4 Bus Speed: 100MHz Multiplier: 42 So, the BIOS does see the overclock, it says the CPU speed is 4200MHz. But in Windows, this doesn't show up at all. It runs the Turbo Speed max, which is 3.9GHz. In the screenshot I am running Prime95, using the max stresstest on the CPU. You can see that the frequency isn't at it's maximum. I also use OpenHardwareMonitor for monitoring on a regular basis and that says this: Please don't say that my CPU is way too hot, I am aware but my room is like 28°C at the moment. It's lower when the A/C is on. I am 100% sure this is a Windows issue. As turning off Speedstep also doesn't increase it.

I would like an SSD for my budget system. Currently it only has a Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD. Everyone needs an SSD because we wanna go FAASTT.

My mom uses her phone a lot, but she still has this old phone (Acer Liquid something) with a 480p screen and barely a day of battery life. She also likes to take photos however whenever I tell her to use the compact camera (Sony something, 1080p) she says her phone's camera is fine. However the photo quality is super bad. The phone costed 100 EUR (148.34 CAD) and has struggle running 2 apps at a time. She has it like for 4 years now and she keeps asking me to fix it, she really wants a new one. I'd like to buy her a new one, but whenever I want to order one or go to the store and I want to buy it, she always says no. So when I say Linus bought it for her, she can't not take it. I was looking to buy her either of these 2, preferably the Huawei Huawei P8 Lite (White): http://www.amazon.com/Huawei-P8-lite-Version-Smartphone/dp/B00W3WTLHQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449745581&sr=8-1&keywords=Huawei+P8+Lite+White&tag=linustechtips-20 Motorola Moto G (3nd Generation) (White): http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-3rd-Generation-Unlocked/dp/B00ZQVSKS2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449745594&sr=8-1&keywords=Motorola+Moto+G+4G+%28Gen+3%29+16&tag=linustechtips-20

I need a new mouse because my current one is nearly broken. If I like, left click to close skype, and chrome is behind that, it also closes Chrome. It does bother me a lot. I like the FinalMouse a lot.

I've been wanting a new computer for a very long time. Ofcourse, with a 'free' CPU, the cost would go down dramatically. I'm currently stuck with an i7 2600...

I like the cooler the most. I mean, did you look at the cooler? It looks sweet and is double radiator, pretty sure it cools like a fridge. Just the bad thing is, you can't replace the fan, so you can't put SP120's on it. ;( I now have an okay H55 from Corsair, but I'm really getting annoyed with it. It only has 1 radiator fan and the reservoir is way to large, so I have to put it upside down in my Antec Ninehundred Two V3 case. I would love a double radiator cooler, as well as a new case, because this one is poor. (No double radiator mounts)
