AMD/NVIDIA Budget Build 2013
Finally had the cash to build a budget, and easily upgradeable computer, so I got started on it in April, and am still adding to it over time.
Note the original build did not contain:
- monitors
- speakers
- keyboard
- SSD
- Liquid cooler
This build was fun to make. First 100% solo build that I paid for myself.

Artifacting in netflix on new kabylake build
hey guys, just built a brand new kabylake build with a 7700K and asus strix 1080 and im getting pretty worried seeing this artifacting in the netflix menu
i have always heard artifacting is almost always hardware failure
does anyone have any experience with this?
does anyone know why this is only happening is the netflix menu and not while streaming from netflix or while playing games.
any info would be greatly

Ashes to Ashes - Reused parts from a fire!
A couple of years ago, my stepdad's house caught fire (before he was living with my mother). However, he skillfully managed to pull his custom prebuilt PC from the fire.
Until now, it has sat in a garage, never having even been tested. It all started when my stepdad asked me to pull some files off of the hard drive. Such a task proved near hell.
I tried every other method to pull the files to no avail. Finally, I decided 'screw it' and booted the computer (albeit with a different PSU). In a moment of pure magic, the desktop appeared on-screen.
After transferring the files, I decided to build a new PC out of it.
Specs:
CPU - AMD Phenom X4 9500
Motherboard - Asus M3N78 Pro
Cooler - Stock AMD
The cooler that was already in the PC kinda had a melted fan. Bought a new one for $10 on Amazon
RAM - 2 x 4GB HyperX DDR2-1066
Storage - WD Caviar 500GB 5900RPM HDD
Case - Antec Three Hundred Two
The original case was an X-Blade, but the front I/O had died and it smelled like a burnt trash can. I bought this case off of a friend for $20.
Graphics - Nvidia GeForce 8300
The M3N78 has onboard Nvidia Graphics, but I want to upgrade to a 750 ti sometime in the future.
PSU - Antec Earthwatts 450W 80+ Bronze
I am very wary of PSU's since they can take out your whole system on a whim. Considering that the old one was in a fire, and an unbranded generic unit to boot..... just no.....
Issues:
A build with used parts isn't without it's issues
1. The front panel USB on the 302 is USB 3. The M3N78 is too old to have USB 3 headers. Solution: USB 3 to USB 2 converter
2. Soot.... The stuff was absolutely everywhere. I cleaned all the reused components to the best of my ability, but there's still a considerable amount leftover.
3. Missing PCI cover and 5 1/4 cover. I was intending to install a CD drive anyway, and the 750 ti should cover the missing PCI covers

ASUS/Intel/Corsair black and red build
These are some pictures of my new (for me) ultimate gaming build. It's not done yet, since I'm missing a graphics card because I'm waiting for the new AMD series, even though I kinda' prefer Nvidia ;)
The pictures really aren't that good, but well, they are just to show the progress.
The temporary graphicscard I have in it is just an old Zotac GTS 250 AMP :)
