Help! First Computer Build

Hello.. I'm wanting to build a really good computer that can handle running a TON of programs. I'll be wanting to run video/audio publishers (like Pinnacle), I'll be wanting to run games at a good FPS and also use it for everday/work use. I'm wanting to custom build my computer, as stated before, so I was wondering what hardware would be best to run, if possible, a 4K system. If not, no less than 1080. There is one monitor that I'll be wanting to run with my rig too. It's the ASUS PQ321Q 31.5-Inch 4K Monitor. Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks.

If your looking for a well balanced gaming to video and audio editing pc then dpeneding on how much your willing to spend the optimal components for your usage would maybe be a GTX 780 as your GPU maybe a i74770K for your CPU and 16 GB of ram from a manufacturer of your choice? and with PSU etc that would probably add up to around 1300$

i agree. i7 processor is a must. if your on a tight budget 8gb of ram will be fine but ideally 16

First question. How much are you willing to spend on this build?

I'll be willing to spend $3,000; but I am willing to upgrade later.

How many cores would be ideal?? I'm thinking between a quad- core or 6 core processor..
