Tings buys existing fiber company, Blue Ridge InternetWorks, in Charlottesville and will start offering gigabit internet early 2015 for under $100 a month. Before the buy, Blue Ridge was offering 100 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up at about $500. It is unclear if this is monthly or annually. The homepage doesn't mention which it is and support was unavailable for comment at the time of posting. Based on the pricing of the other, lower tiers (25/5 for ~$60), I would guess this was a monthly price.
No word on data caps or not yet. Hopefully there isn't. So maybe big ISPs, instead of being a bunch of <expletive deleted> will start to charge affordable prices and actually deliver a satisfactory service. Yeah, I'm looking at you Comcast...
