better gaming experience

powerport01

Now i finally have the money to buy either a 23"(1080p) AH-IPS monitor or the r9 270X(HD7870) but i would like first to ask the opinion of the community first

My GPU: HD7770~ i don't need a game to run 60FPS constant but 30FPS w/ VSYNC to prevent massive frame drops will do fine

this gpu is capable of playing games that I have played at or near max setting at my res with the exception of crysis 2 metro last light and far cry 3

My monitor: 18.5"(1366X768) BENQ GL950 TN 60Hz

I don't game as much as I do before simply because i played most of the games i wanted to play but I'm looking forward to play the following AAA titles BF4, AC4, GTA V(i hope it releases on PC), thief, watch dogs, crysis3, and probably will get Rome II and saints row 4.

reason that I might upgrade my GPU

a)i want a stronger GPU(to turn settings up for eye-candy)

b)"future-proof"(gosh i hate that term) my gpu for future games

c)my gpu is being somewhat of a bottleneck...CPU: i5-2320(i know its old but you have to admit its very capable, even on current gen games)

reasons that i might buy a new monitor

a)I want a larger and better(color) display(would make gaming?? / watching videos have a better experience)

b)having a larger resolution will make games look sharper(though insufficient gpu horsepower might overwhelm that~ only expect that to happen on "demanding" games though

c)I could use my current monitor as a secondary display to surf the web as i play or replace a very old monitor that really sucks

I know a friend of mine working somewhere that sells video games so he would hook me up with a very good bundled deal from time to time (Don't know how he does it but he does it ~lucky me)

By 'better' I take it that you'd meant larger or higher res monitor like a 1080P one? If that's so, OP needs a stronger card to go hand in hand with a larger monitor. Don't get me wonrg, OP would still be able to play games with that HD7770, but at reduced ingame settings for sure.

True, thats why I'm kinda stuck on buying a faster card or a better monitor. both would have similar experience....I think         (OK monitor w/ fast card)vs(Good monitor w/ OK card)
