Would this work?

Xtreme Gamer

I'm curious about a certain scenario and hopefully someone can tell me if its possible. Let's say that a root had gone bad in android and I need to fix it by flashing. Could i flash only the system.img or would I need to flash everything?

I had to reflash my phone with the default image to update it (it was rooted) it reset everything to default but was a fairly easy process that can be done with any computer

The point of the question was to see if I could flash without loosing my files. Is that possible given the question?

I don't think there's a way. You can probably get some app for android backups, or just manually backup the files you want to keep
