Crossfire with different cards

is it possible to cross fire an asus r9 290 and a his digital 7770 hd pro. this has probably already been asked but i would appreciated it!

No, you can only crossfire cards of the same model

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

No. If the cards are virtually identical (like 7950 and R9 280) then that works, but cards that far apart don't work.

You can. Nvidia cards they have to be the same. However the better card will run at the lower cards specs.

Only cards which use the same base GPU core can be run in CrossFire. Note that any stronger cards will run with some cores disabled to match the lower-spec'd card.
