Check out the Buffalo Airstation extreme AC 1750. It's $120 for the version without ddwrt installed. From what I understand you can easily install it, although that will void the warranty. I got this because for the price I have been able to slightly futureproof my network (currently I only have 2 ac devices) but I will have that available as ac becomes more common.

Secondly I was upgrading from a lynksys e1200, the range of the WiFi is amazing. I have to get about 30-40 ft away from it before I start loosing signal strength, and the internet is much snappier on all WiFi devices.

Third pro which is becomming standard is the usb port. The nas solution buffalo has is quite good. It's not pretty but I was able to set it up easily and haven't had any problems yet.

There are other routers that have better ui, and some with better range. But I feel like this unit is a good compromise of price and features.

Edit:autocorrect making me look foolish.

My Timewaster: i5 3570k @ 4.4GHz 1.19v, Asus P8Z77-V, Noctua NH-D14, Sapphire Radeon HD 7850, 16 GB Corsair Vengance, 128GB Samsung 830 SSD, HAF 912, Logitech G710+, G700
