Phone slow after connecting to wifi?

Trail Mixorz

I just connected to a random wifi at school on my S4 and my phone started to freeze and lock up. The settings app froze and eventually closed and my phone got so slow I couldn't even do anything. I eventually restarted my phone and put on airplane mode. Then I turned it off but still have wifi turned off, kinda scared to put it back on lol. Why did this happen? It's still kinda laggy

Have you ever used this phone with wifi before? Or was the schools wifi the first it has ever used it.

my school doesn't have wifi and they've been against it for years. I have never connected to this wifi before. It also says my texts are failing to send and it changed my auto time

I mean has you phone ever used wifi before in the past, or was this the first time. It may sound odd but it might be a problem with your phones software or hardware. Very unlikly but I don't know of any normal wifi setup that can edit/change the phone in that kind of way.

Then it must be related to the wifi at the school, have to attempted to speak to the network Administrator? It may either be a bad wifi extender/router or it must be somthing on there network. Without knowing there network settings etc, I don't know what it can be. Do you know if anyone else if having this problem at school?

Oh, I misread your first message, I thought that you said it was your schools wifi. In that case, did you know that wifi hotspot? Or did your phone just automaticly connect.

Often not the best idea, I don't know about you. But even I can open a hotspot with the kaililinux (It's basicly a hacking os) and then do things to the connected devices. I am only 16 so imagine what an experainced guy could do, and were better to do it than a school full of kinds that need a wifi connection.

What do you mean by this?

Mcdonalds, Mcalisters,etc.

If u tell the customers that you have free wifi, be prepared for the wave of users. At least get good internet. My school has better wifi then those places. And we have everyone's school computers on it and then the teachers two computers and then some students phones. When no one knows there is wifi, there is less people using it. The less using it the faster it is.

By the sounds of things, it's not related to the wifi speed. It's somthing a little more complex.
